Punchy Proverbs–The Truth!

Ahh, here they are. Let the battle being. Which is the best?

(1) Endurance is a test of willpower, not strength.

(2) One learns a lot about a person’s character when one’s usefulness has expired.

(3) The truth may be vexing and disappointing, but it doesn’t evolve. You see, it made up its mind long ago, and has stuck with it ever since.

    #3 is the truth.

    • 6 Professor VJ Duke June 11, 2013 at 16:28

      :) I think so too.

Number 1 when you wish to learn about yourself. Number 2 when you wish to learn about your friends.

    • 8 Professor VJ Duke June 11, 2013 at 16:28

Ah, Brian, you are absolutely right!!!

  5. 9 FictionFan June 10, 2013 at 22:01

Number 1 – mainly because it made me think of Rafa… ;)

    • 10 Brian June 11, 2013 at 01:13

      …me, too :)

    • 11 Professor VJ Duke June 11, 2013 at 16:27

      …and his shorts…or hair?

      • 12 FictionFan June 11, 2013 at 18:09

His biceps, on this particular occasion…

Do you have any proverbs about shallow women?

      • 13 Professor VJ Duke June 12, 2013 at 00:20

Does he have sizable biceps? I’m not sure if V. Shnodgrate penned any about shallow women. I could look. Why do you ask?

Number 1 is a favorite. Also number 3.

    • 15 Professor VJ Duke June 11, 2013 at 16:27

      Now what’s wrong with number 2? ;)

      • 16 Kaela Moore June 11, 2013 at 17:12

I have some philosophical resistance to the idea of useless people, although I agree with number 2 completely. There are many people who may not necessarily be of use to me, but in being useless become the sandpaper that refines some of my rougher edges–thereby inadvertently making themselves somewhat useful and negating their uselessness.

I love using big words like “inadvertently.”
        :)

That was a good speech! I loved it–especially the big word!

Number three is the winner. The first two can be wrapped up in number three.

    • 19 Professor VJ Duke June 11, 2013 at 16:27

      Good observation, lady.

I like number one…it is so very true. I don’t think anyone’s usefulness truly expires. All have something to offer. The third is awesome also. I would rather someone be totally honest with me. It gives me the opportunity to decide hold I wish for my own heart to proceed. Even if it bites.
