Last Wednesday, I believe, we discussed why the Punchy Lands is a land, and not a world.
This Wednesday, we’ll take up why the Punchy Lands is, in fact, the Punchy Lands. In other words, why Punchy?
Before we move on, I must thank FictionFan for the idea in the first place. Had it not been for FictionFan’s idea, I would not have written this post. You see, in this professorish mind, Punchy made complete sense while Land didn’t. Of course, it was the opposite for everyone else.
The best way to explain why Punchy, is to quote something that I wrote a little bit ago. You know how it goes. A once eloquent explanation is doomed never to be repeated.
In the intolerable heat of an exceedingly hot desert in North Africa, within a cave, there lives a race that is far older than the mountains, yet far younger than the stars, a race that is an anomaly—a race that is known as the Punchies.
Some of the inhabitants of the land believe that the Punchies are the ones responsible for the craziness of the land, which is probably the case—however, we must keep in mind that rumors can’t be verified.
One could say that a Punchy is similar to a normal person, but in all honesty they are quite different. They may look normal enough at first glance, but if someone was to look closely it would become obvious within seconds that they aren’t normal at all. Each Punchy possesses a different kind of hue (however slight it may be) and seems to be made of a stretchy material like rubber. They can shrink or grow to enormous sizes, though they’re usually about the size of a man. How the Punchies have come about is still one of the greatest mysteries of the Punchy Lands.
Hence, the Punchy Lands.
Well, if that doesn’t clear everything up, I don’t know what will. Remember: Everything can probably be explained away to insanity!
