Blatherings—Why the ‘Punchy’ Lands….

Last Wednesday, I believe, we discussed why the Punchy Lands is  a land, and not a world.

This Wednesday, we’ll take up why the Punchy Lands is, in fact, the Punchy Lands. In other words, why Punchy?

Before we move on, I must thank FictionFan for the idea in the first place. Had it not been for FictionFan’s idea, I would not have written this post. You see, in this professorish mind, Punchy made complete sense while Land didn’t. Of course, it was the opposite for everyone else.

The best way to explain why Punchy, is to quote something that I wrote a little bit ago. You know how it goes. A once eloquent explanation is doomed never to be repeated.

In the intolerable heat of an exceedingly hot desert in North Africa, within a cave, there lives a race that is far older than the mountains, yet far younger than the stars, a race that is an anomaly—a race that is known as the Punchies.

Some of the inhabitants of the land believe that the Punchies are the ones responsible for the craziness of the land, which is probably the case—however, we must keep in mind that rumors can’t be verified.

One could say that a Punchy is similar to a normal person, but in all honesty they are quite different. They may look normal enough at first glance, but if someone was to look closely it would become obvious within seconds that they aren’t normal at all. Each Punchy possesses a different kind of hue (however slight it may be) and seems to be made of a stretchy material like rubber. They can shrink or grow to enormous sizes, though they’re usually about the size of a man. How the Punchies have come about is still one of the greatest mysteries of the Punchy Lands.

Hence, the Punchy Lands.

Well, if that doesn’t clear everything up, I don’t know what will. Remember: Everything can probably be explained away to insanity!

How is it you came to be the spokesperson for the Punchies?

Well…maybe I should Blather about this? I’m the one that discovered the land, so it’s my duty to chronicle and show it!

Now it all makes sense, and I feel like I know them better. That explains a lot of their behavior! Sort of….

Don’t worry! As time goes on, you’ll get to know them even better! Scary, isn’t it?

      No problem!

  5. 9 L. Marie June 26, 2013 at 15:22

Good. Because I wondered why “punchy.” Thanks for the explanation!!!

No problem! If you have any questions about the Punchy Lands, I’d be glad to answer them. After all, I am the ‘spokesperson’. You’d be surprised how much history exists about the land. I do believe the Punchy Lands is much, much older than earth.

The Hut post this week will be about the Punchies!

This confirms the presence of evil where I work. I just call them numbnuts.

    • 12 Professor VJ Duke June 26, 2013 at 15:56

Why does this confirm the presence of evil?

      • 13 ladycheetah7 June 26, 2013 at 16:06

If punchies are responsible for the craziness of the world then that explains the drama on my job…it was a joke

      • 14 Professor VJ Duke June 26, 2013 at 16:39

Oh, yes, I understand. If something is crazy, the Punchies are involved.

  7. 15 FictionFan June 26, 2013 at 15:16

That makes it all much clearer – thank you!

Ah, but is it normal to be normal? Or is normality in fact the greatest abnormality of all… ;)

    • 16 Professor VJ Duke June 26, 2013 at 15:56

      I hope it does.

You’re sending my mind into shock-waves! I can’t take it!

The Hut post this week shall be about the Punchies–now how cool is that!

      • 17 FictionFan June 26, 2013 at 16:06

As cool as a polar bear eating an ice lolly!

(Oops, sorry…I mean, popsicle. American is such a very strange language…)

      • 18 Professor VJ Duke June 26, 2013 at 16:38

I was actually trying to picture an iced lollypop until you cleared that up!

I’m surprised the English don’t have a different name for the polar bear!

Say something...anything...O Punchy Family!
