Character Analysis, Mr. Magi

Today, we shall speak about a Punchy Lander who goes by the name of Mr. Magi. He can be considered the only scrupulous character in the Punchy Lands, but his scattered mind usually causes problems for everyone—including himself.

NAME: Johannes Tyndale Magician, or Mr. Magi.

HOME: Far below the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean in a nicely sized cave.

DESCRIPTION: Small, with a thin dark moustache, round glasses, and jet black hair. Usually dressed in a black suit and top hat.

QUOTE: Young man! Behave yourself!

ABOUT: Mr. Magi is usually quite anxious and harried as if he is waiting for something horribly dreadful to happen—which he probably is. You see, Mr. Magi considers himself the protector of the Punchy Lands, the one responsible for keeping the crazy characters and the mad ideas (which frequently float about) under control. He is ready—at a moment’s notice—to ride out, defend the innocent, save those in need, and restore order to an otherwise disordered land. It is a busy job, and a hard one. Thus, every so often, Mr. Magi retires to his cave and hibernates to catch up on much needed rest. Then, he rises, goes forth, and addresses all of the problems that have arisen while he had been hibernating—problems that probably could have been avoided had he not hibernated at all. It is a strange problem; one that could only belong to Mr. Magi. But it doesn’t bother him much at all.

So, now you see why the Punchy Lands is in such a disordered state. Its protector is scattered to such an extent that he ends up causing more problems!

Excellent! No I have my Punchy Land counterpart, glasses and all. Now to find a suitable cave…

The cave would be the hard part…especially under the ocean.

Hmm – Mr Magi sounds as if he might be a bit professorish…

Really cool tags, by the way!

 You still read the tags!

I suppose Mr. Magi is professorish…or quite like me. But don’t tell anyone!

Does this mean….you have a moustache???

      • 6 Professor VJ Duke July 3, 2013 at 15:26

No, physically I think I’m quite different from Mr. Magi. I really don’t think he could do pull-ups…

You know, I’ve been thinking that Austen probably envisioned Darcy with a moustache. In fact, I bet Liz had one too!

 How dare you! I bet Darcy could do more pull-ups than you…

Really? I’m pretty sure Mark Twain would have a hard time. The moustache would get in his eyes. And if Twain would have a hard time…Darcy’s case is hopeless! ;)

      • 9 FictionFan July 3, 2013 at 15:59

Oh yes, Twain would definitely have a hard time. His hat would probably fall off too. But Darcy would not only be brilliant at it, he’d manage to look gorgeous at the same time…

Are you picturing Colin Firth? For all we know, the REAL Darcy could have been hideous. Austen did say he had a mane….

      • 11 FictionFan July 3, 2013 at 16:04

I am ALWAYS picturing Colin Firth….sigh!

(Well, except when I’m picturing Rafa, of course. Who, now I think about it, would be the king of pull-ups – huge sigh!)

Naw! The Rock would beat him!
