Ahahahaha! I love this, and please tell Symphonist Sepperl that he is really outdoing himself with the music lately. I am most impressed. But I am sorry about your vexing keyboard! Hope that is resolved soon. As for the book, ah, a most perplexing conundrum. I hope an ice pack helps!

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 16:25

:D I will! The keyboard situation is improving, the professor is proud to announce.

Definitely is! I think it will!

  2. 3 L. Marie September 20, 2013 at 14:22

Manothunder!!! The professor speaks! Woo hoo! And a western is coming! Woo hoo! Or should I say again, “Manothunder!

    • 4 Professor VJ Duke September 20, 2013 at 14:40

Or Wowawee! And Les Miz is really, really soon…

  3. 5 Jennifer September 20, 2013 at 04:31

Never mind ripping or burning. get your devils to eat it.

    • 6 Professor VJ Duke September 20, 2013 at 12:37

That is a grand idea, but you didn’t send any to the professor…

      • 7 Jennifer September 20, 2013 at 20:58

Well you know that I can’t. You should bring the books here, or send them to me….

      • 8 Professor VJ Duke September 20, 2013 at 22:11

Do you have pet devils? :D :D

      • 9 Jennifer September 20, 2013 at 22:32

Lol, no. But they’re closer to me than you though.

      • 10 Professor VJ Duke September 20, 2013 at 22:33

Dadblameit! I bet you have them–secretly… I would, you know.

      • 11 Jennifer September 20, 2013 at 22:39

Of course you would. But I’m good, and don’t squirrel them away.

      • 12 Professor VJ Duke September 20, 2013 at 22:42

Well…if the professor visits, we must steal one–so I can take it back.

      • 13 Jennifer September 20, 2013 at 22:48

No stealing, I will not allow it. And if you get caught, I don’t know you.

      • 14 Professor VJ Duke September 20, 2013 at 23:56

You wouldn’t do that to the professor! What’s the sentence?

      • 15 Jennifer September 21, 2013 at 00:00

Considering we were a penal colony for convicts I don’t think you want to know…

      • 16 Professor VJ Duke September 21, 2013 at 00:03

Well, the professor would bring his agents with him. And they’d steal the devil. But I am curious…

      • 17 Jennifer September 21, 2013 at 00:04

About?? Devils, or convicts? Your agents are no match to mine!

      • 18 Professor VJ Duke September 21, 2013 at 00:06

The sentence…I must needs know. Maybe I’d rather a convict than a devil? Do you have agents too?

      • 19 Jennifer September 21, 2013 at 00:29

Remember the Agent in the Matrix. He’s mine.

      • 20 Professor VJ Duke September 21, 2013 at 00:55

I get the guy from Person of Interest, then. :D

  4. 21 Jackie September 18, 2013 at 23:58

I enjoyed hearing your voice, Professor! It was really a treat. I also understand about keyboards and whatnot so you made sense to me. I was going to suggest another rock but that simple solution was already suggested – that’s what I get for being behind on my blog reading!

As far as book ripping/burning – I’ll leave that up to you. Although, I feel the need to mention that book burning has a bad a very, very, very bad reputation and rightly so! I would be careful to think things through carefully before implementing Albuquerque’s idea if that was an idea you were considering.

    • 22 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:01

:) Great! That’s a relief. I definitely think I should get another rock–or something! It’s driving the professor crazy!

Albuquerque’s a bit harsh, isn’t he? The professor wouldn’t dream of burning it. Far too destructive. Not even ripping it–physically. Now, with words is a different story!

      • 23 Jackie September 19, 2013 at 00:03

Indeed! Rip away with words! 8-)

      • 24 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:05

        I love that smiley!

      • 25 Jackie September 19, 2013 at 00:15

        So do I! 8-)

      • 26 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:16

There’s something about it. Very professorish, I think.

      • 27 Jackie September 19, 2013 at 00:22

Indeed it is! It’s been very nice chatting with you Professor but I must go. There’s a harvest moon out just waiting for me to capture it. Have a good one! 8-)

      • 28 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:23

You too! (Hope the professor gets to see it!)

  5. 29 sonya solomonovich September 18, 2013 at 18:20

The professor speaks! This was very exciting!
And I’m very excited about the western! Manly Man as John Wayne perhaps?

    • 30 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:46

:D It was different, I think!

Well, I think Schwarz was starring… MM starred in Les Miz–which will be coming out shortly.

      • 31 sonya solomonovich September 19, 2013 at 01:31

Ooh excellent. Schwarz is also a fitting star for a western. I can’t wait!

      • 32 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 01:43

        :D Great!! It’s in pre-production!

  6. 33 storiesbywilliams September 18, 2013 at 17:45

Lovely! If this is not a regular thing, it should be. Did you ever divulge what the book was?

    • 34 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 18:09

Thank you! It’s not usually regular. Sort of like radio, isn’t it?

No, I didn’t. It’s supposed to be…up in the air–as it were. Do you have a book that you’d like it to be?

      • 35 storiesbywilliams September 18, 2013 at 18:26

Yes, Hunters of Dune, out of artistic outrage. Or 50 Shades of Grey, on general principle alone!

      • 36 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:47

Sounds awesome to me! Have you ever read 50 Shades?

      • 37 storiesbywilliams September 19, 2013 at 02:04

No… but I have a friend who selflessly read it and did a chapter by chapter summary she posted online. My bile duct was sufficiently triggered just hearing about it.

      • 38 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 02:05

Yes, that was the professor’s reaction. Just hearing dadblame things!

  7. 39 deanthefish September 18, 2013 at 17:29

This was thoroughly enjoyable. I LOVED the music!!!

    • 40 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 18:07

Thanks, Mr. Fish (SS). The professor is honored.

  8. 41 technophile9 September 18, 2013 at 17:12

Hmmm…. I have a strange feeling I know what the book is, but I hope it’s not what I think it is. Excuse me if I’m completely wrong… no offence meant.
Is it your novel? :? If so, please don’t rip it. If not, get a shredder. :P

    • 42 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 17:19

 It actually wasn’t the professor’s book… But you’re right: That could work too!

No, no. It’s a real novel. (Wouldn’t you enjoy seeing the professor’s book destroyed? ;) )

      • 43 technophile9 September 18, 2013 at 18:11

Most certainly not! I was very worried actually. Although I know you don’t particularly like it, and you may try to convince me that it’s trash, I think it could be amazing. ;)

      • 44 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 18:12

Really? :D You mean–you’d read it?

  9. 45 Anja September 18, 2013 at 16:55

Oh my you and P&P!!!!! Do not burn that book!!!!! You may try and rip it but burning sir…..oh no!!!

    • 46 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 17:17

Now, now! Who said it was P&P? Maybe it’s another dadblamery…

      • 47 Anja September 18, 2013 at 17:20

I assumed but that’s the only one you’ve whined incessantly about….right or wrong?

      • 48 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 18:07

Well, don’t assume anything, young lady! How wicked do you think the professor is?

      • 49 Anja September 18, 2013 at 21:10

Ok not assume but a guess based on evidence you provided. :) When did I ever paint you as wicked dear professor? :)

      • 50 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:49

You’re right: the professor is sweet–and unromantic. ;)

      • 51 Anja September 18, 2013 at 23:54

Sweet and a romantic no matter how much he denies…..

      • 52 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:55

How can he be sweet when he wields a katana?

      • 53 Anja September 18, 2013 at 23:56

        an imaginary katana!

      • 54 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:59

        No, it’s real: https://thepunchylands.wordpress.com/2013/08/20/behind-the-scenes-a-ripping-book-review/.

      • 55 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:02

ha Nice post and very creative but still…not buying it. You’re act I mean, not the book. Poor book :(

      • 56 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:03

What? Can’t you see the professor is wicked in every single way?

      • 57 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:04

        Nope…not at all. :)

      • 58 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:05

        Rats!

      • 59 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:06

        Cats!

      • 60 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:07

        Rats armed with katanas!

      • 61 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:09

which the cats will come take away and throw into the rainbow. Then unicorns will come and carry the rats away to their new homes…happy homes.

      • 62 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:11

        Dear me!

      • 63 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:12

        :D Welcome to my world

      • 64 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:16

        The PL?

      • 65 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:18

The PL? I believe that is your world Professor!!! How did it become mine?

      • 66 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:18

        When you got Punchy Syndrome?

      • 67 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:20

It was you that diagnosed me with that….are you a doctor as well as a professor?

      • 68 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:21

No. I was just professorizing…because you wanted to go to the PL.

      • 69 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:24

Of course I want to go to PL!! But didn’t I have my own world before PL?

      • 70 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 00:25

Of course! I’m just being wicked–like I told you could happen.

      • 71 Anja September 19, 2013 at 00:26

Oh that isn’t wicked! That is a G rated wickedness

      • 72 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 01:06

        Dadblameit!

      • 73 Anja September 19, 2013 at 01:16

I can honestly say I have never used that word before….now I must write it. :D

      • 74 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 01:43

Awesome! It’s a great Twainish, professorish word.

      • 75 Anja September 19, 2013 at 02:22

We will see if if remains awesome after you read what I’m writing. ;)

      • 76 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 11:58

        It will, I’m sure.

      • 77 Anja September 18, 2013 at 17:37

May I also suggest you get a second flat rock. You can then have a rock on each corner and problem fixed.

      • 78 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 18:08

Hey, that’s brilliant! You see, the professor needs you to help order the unordered, professorish mind.

      • 79 Anja September 18, 2013 at 21:16

Does this mean I’m hired as your official brain organizerer?

      • 80 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:49

 Probably. If it doesn’t make you go crazy.

      • 81 Anja September 18, 2013 at 23:54

Oh do not underestimate me….I LOVE to organize. It is how I live with my ADHD

      • 82 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:55

        Awesome, then!

      • 83 Anja September 18, 2013 at 23:56

        :D

      • 84 Susan P September 18, 2013 at 22:10

        Is that a rhetorical question?

      • 85 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:50

  10. 86 Topaz September 18, 2013 at 15:33

It was a treat to hear your voice!

    • 87 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 17:16

Thank you! Is it what you supposed it to sound like?

      • 88 Topaz September 18, 2013 at 20:31

Yep. I was not disappointed in the least.

      • 89 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:49

        The professor is honored!

  11. 90 ladycheetah7 September 18, 2013 at 15:25

Coolio! Very nice touch. I think I heard Manly and King Authur. I was beginning to think you were a ventriloquist of some sort but now I know there is more than one person working with you. Lol. I’d say get two copies of the book. Take a picture, rip a page if you want to be deep and set the rest aflame. That way if that didn’t satisfy you there is a spare…lol

    • 91 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 17:16

You do? What could you possibly mean? ;)

You might be surprised, though, Lady.

 The suggestion is excellent. I should get a whole collection and every time I get angry…

      • 92 ladycheetah7 September 18, 2013 at 17:36

Now don’t put the burning of books on you tube. You might give someone the impression that Americans love to burn books to make a political statement. :-)

      • 93 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 18:07

 I wouldn’t dream of it!

  12. 94 Hazy September 18, 2013 at 15:19

    I love the sound effects.

I have a similarly vexing keyboard at work. I placed it on top of the lcd monitor’s base thingy to prop it up. I hope your vexing keyboard will soon be unvexing.

Gee, I wonder what book it is. :P I say rip the humdinger thrice!!! Then rip it into smaller pieces! (then paste it all back together ;) )

    • 95 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 17:14

      :) Thank you!

Is the monitor’s base high enough? I found that to be a problem. Getting something that would prop it up high enough. And thank you! The professor ardently hopes so too!

 Yes! Maybe… I’d love to see the book after it’s surgery!

      • 96 Hazy September 19, 2013 at 15:35

Not really. I think it lacks maybe another centimeter or something.

That would be interesting. A sort of Frankenstein’s monster kinda looking book :D

      • 97 Professor VJ Duke September 19, 2013 at 17:52

        What a humdinger.

        Or scary!

  13. 98 Susan P September 18, 2013 at 14:12

It’s going to be difficult to rip a book that is as large as you describe this one. Maybe you should let Schwartz do it?

    • 99 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 17:13

A Schwarz ripping? Now that would cool. Chickit! But would you really want to read a Schwarz ripping?

      • 100 Susan P September 18, 2013 at 18:10

        I don’t know…do you know something about him that I don’t?

      • 101 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 18:13

No, not at all. But I’m assuming it would make chickit sense.

      • 102 Susan P September 18, 2013 at 22:13

Oh, Professor. Well, perhaps you might make it a contest for DS and Ruber to see which one is a better ripper. Unless you have someone named Jack in the PL.

      • 103 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:50

 Very true. Jack would be stellar. I’ll have to find one.

  14. 104 xbox2121 September 18, 2013 at 14:00

This was a pretty cool way of posting professor and by your voice you are younger than I thought :)

    • 105 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 17:12

Thank you! It’s definitely different. Like a radio show, perhaps? :) Ah, how young do you think? Just curious.

      • 106 xbox2121 September 18, 2013 at 17:19

        Guessing late 20’s ?

      • 107 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 18:07

:D What did you think before?

      • 108 Susan P September 18, 2013 at 22:15

My “think” is that the Professor is ageless.

      • 109 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:50

And your think is absolutely right!!!!

  15. 110 The Dancing Rider September 18, 2013 at 13:50

Since the book sticks in the professor’s mind so well, I say burn it, rip what you can from memory (rather than having the book around for reference), and perhaps 1/3 to 1/2 of depression will be lifted.

That is, of course dear Professor, assuming you can type on the VEXING keyboard! ;-)

    • 111 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 17:12

 That’s a very good idea! But I’m not sure about burning it–that was Albuquerque’s idea. And he’s a bit odd, don’t you think?

Yes! The keyboard rocks back and forth violently. It’s really a wonder.

      • 112 The Dancing Rider September 18, 2013 at 21:26

He is. But I still think it is a good idea. Especially if the book is soooooo rippable! :)

      • 113 Professor VJ Duke September 18, 2013 at 23:49

        Tis a great idea!
