Ahahahaha, this is the best one yet! They just keep getting more awesome:) I love Mr. Beeswax. And poor Ratson! And the recurrence of pudding!

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke October 2, 2013 at 17:29

Thank you!!! I felt bad for Ratson too. I know! What’s with Olmes and pudding? Maybe we can draw some conclusions from that.

  2. 3 Angeline M September 28, 2013 at 05:51

Bravo! Can’t wait for the next chapter. I do love Daddy Olmes.

    • 4 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 16:21

      Many thanks! :D

  3. 5 Jackie September 27, 2013 at 23:57

I enjoyed this very much! I agree with whoever said it’s Punchalicious! 8-)

    • 6 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 00:04

      Many thanks! Definitely!

  4. 7 The Dancing Rider September 27, 2013 at 21:30

Oh, God, that laugh again. So puts me on edge! Great music and sound effects. (Btw, these are just the right length, too.)

Now, too bad the dynamic duo can’t seem to find out what the heck is going on…..and instead horrid Olmes appears to have thrown Ratson down …. something! Love the cliffhanger.

Professor Morality. Now *there’s* someone I want to meet. Morality and Olmes. In any sense of the word?! All fun!

    • 8 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 23:31

The laugh! It’s almost as if DS knows something that you do not… Thank you!

I know. They do seem troubled a bit, for sure. Should there be a sequel do you think? I don’t think the studio was planning on it, but Lesley wants one…

Ha! It should be an interesting, for sure, to see Olmes and Morality interacting… I’m not sure yet.

      • 9 The Dancing Rider September 28, 2013 at 20:56

I thought the sequel thing through. Probably in the errant direction. ;-) The natural tendency of the reader, to me, is to want to know “what happened”. In that respect, yes. But one could also mention this … occurrence … somehow in the next regular installment of Olmes and Ratson. Of course we know Ratson will not be dead, right?! I leave this to the professor…..

I love the idea of “morality” with respect to Olmes. Right. Try again!!!!! :)

      • 10 Professor VJ Duke September 30, 2013 at 17:30

I like your thoughts. A lot of sense there. The professor will think, but in the end Mic makes the decisions, you know… ;)

        Awesome!

  5. 11 Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister September 27, 2013 at 19:55

Punchalicious! Obviously, a huge fan of the League. Daddy Salami has some explaining to do. I worry for Ratty. Professor Morality… I like the sound of that.

    • 12 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:35

Great use of Punchy argot! Yes, he does. He’s such a wicked fellow at times. But Ratty was being naughty too.

      Yes, should be interesting…

Are you a Sherlock Holmes fan? How about Les Miz?

      • 13 Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister September 27, 2013 at 22:26

Yes, and I can’t imagine Daddy wanting Ratty bumped off so quickly. My guess is that he has bigger plans for Ratty.

Yes, I’m a fan. I think I see some similarities between Holmes and the professor.

Les Miz, how does one not become a fan of a man who would steal bread for his sister…the romance of it all.

      • 14 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 23:34

        The professor must agree.

        Oh dear! What similarities, pray?

There will be a Punchy version soon…

      • 15 Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister September 28, 2013 at 20:05

So you don’t agree there is a similarity? Hmm. Really?

      • 16 Professor VJ Duke September 30, 2013 at 17:30

Of course not! The professor is too sweet, isn’t he?

  6. 17 Lesley September 27, 2013 at 17:10

    Intriguing! Sequel. Sequel. Sequel.

    • 18 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:34

Thank you! Really? You don’t want a sequel, do you?

      • 19 Lesley September 27, 2013 at 20:36

I want a sequel! I’ll ask Mr. Magi to have a word with you on that.

      • 20 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:37

Oh don’t do that! He’ll probably force me, you know. Okay, if the professor must. There’ll be a sequel, dadblameit!

      • 21 Lesley September 27, 2013 at 23:15

Yay for the sequel! Wow, I have unimaginable powers with Mr. Magi on my side

      • 22 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 23:35

Hmmm… You certainly do! And it makes the professor cranky a bit! ;)

      • 23 Lesley September 27, 2013 at 23:43

I guess I won’t use the power too often then :)

      • 24 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 23:47

I think you’d really like Mr. Magi–if you met him.

      • 25 Lesley September 27, 2013 at 23:49

Oh yeah? Can I actually meet him?

      • 26 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 23:50

As of now, only in stories and skits, sadly. But one day!

      • 27 Lesley September 27, 2013 at 23:53

I look forward to the day…and he might reveal the identity of the professor too…

      • 28 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 23:54

The professor is VJ Duke, you know.

      • 29 Lesley September 28, 2013 at 00:24

Yes, but the VJ is still a mystery to me. An inviting mystery :)

      • 30 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 16:20

 The professor is said to be an enigma.

      • 31 Lesley September 28, 2013 at 16:29

        Interesting…

      • 32 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 16:39

        And

      • 33 Lesley September 28, 2013 at 17:03

        haha yes!

      • 34 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:03

        :D

  7. 35 Simply Skeptical September 27, 2013 at 16:11

BRAVO!! ENCORE pleeeese! These are too intriguing. They really paint a picture of the surroundings even the feeling of being down in the basement. BUT please, oh please hurry with the next one so the answer to what Olmes did to Ratson is revealed – I hope!

    • 36 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 16:24

Many thanks! I’ll tell Mic you enjoyed it. Well, I’m not sure if Mic was planning a sequel…

      • 37 Simply Skeptical September 27, 2013 at 17:36

You simply must have a sequel. Was Ruber I mean Ratson killed? If so, doesn’t that make Olmes a murderer? It can’t be true; well of course, only in the Punchy Lands….. :-O

      • 38 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:33

 Well, DS is exactly a scrupulous person as Merlin would say. It’s very Punchy in the PL, you know.

  8. 39 Hazy September 27, 2013 at 15:36

The Red-headed League! Nicely done professor.

“Solving mystery after mystery – with no end in sight!” — because they can’t solve the mysteries… Hehaha

Professor Morality! That’d be interesting!

Oh, noes! What did Olmes do?!

    • 40 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 16:22

      Thank you!

 Exactly right! But don’t tell Olmes that!

Or scary, you know. Isn’t he scary?

      To Ratson, you mean?

      • 41 Hazy September 27, 2013 at 16:34

        My lips are sealed

I’m an undercover agent with a hazy mind! Of course I ain’t scared of Morality! (I think…)

Yessir. What a cliffhanger! Is there a next episode? Sounds like he was pushed down the stairs, or a pit… though I can’t really tell.

      • 42 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:32

You are? Super neat! You must get the professor into your club.

Should there be one? Originally, it was only supposed to be one episode. It does sound like that now that you say it.

      • 43 Hazy September 29, 2013 at 01:18

That’d be awesome! I’ll pull some strings. And Weatherly will vouch for you.

I think so! One more episode, or an epilogue maybe?

      • 44 Professor VJ Duke September 30, 2013 at 17:32

:D The professor is so proud now!

Well, it might be resolved in the next episode too…

  9. 45 technophile9 September 27, 2013 at 15:32

Daddy Olmes is ginger? And I loved the ending and Mr Beeswax! I was a bit confused before I realised it was a cliffhanger. ;)

    • 46 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 16:20

It is! But I’m not sure Mic is planning a sequel. Here’s a bit more info on D. Salami, if you’re interested: https://thepunchylands.wordpress.com/daddy-salami/.

  10. 47 ladycheetah7 September 27, 2013 at 14:52

Omg… what happened? There has to be an episode 4. You cannot leave us hanging. Besides, this reminds me of the movie called the Bank when they digged a whole to rob a bank.
Um, just wondering, what does V stand for? Vincent? Vernon? Victor?

    • 48 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 15:01

It’s a mystery, isn’t it? What do you suppose happened? The professor’s never seen that movie, but it sounds of interest, definitely.

      You mean in my name?

      • 49 ladycheetah7 September 27, 2013 at 15:28

Could be Mr. Beeswax set them up. Dunno and yes the initial in your name. Or us thar a mystery along with your age and what you do for a living. ..lol
        :-)

      • 50 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 16:18

Personally, that’s what the professor thinks. No mysteries: My name is VJ Duke, I’m timeless (or ageless, if you prefer) and the PL has sort of become my living. :)

Why do you want to know about the name? I bet you’re planning to use it derisively!

      • 51 ladycheetah7 September 27, 2013 at 16:25

Hardy..har.har. People with initials use them as a distinguishing mark from the rest of the world, are from royalty, or writing under a pen name hence the world will never know who they really are. No scorn intended, just curious. :-)

      • 52 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 16:27

Or they have a really horrid name that might scare people. :D

      • 53 Susan P September 27, 2013 at 20:35

Tsk tsk, Professor, for denying the lady’s request. :D

      • 54 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:38

 You don’t want the professor to tell, do you?

  11. 55 Susan P September 27, 2013 at 14:07

I too am introverted and have strange abilities. I wonder if we are related?

Am I the only one who noticed that there hasn’t been any ripping for awhile?

    Nice tactic…leaving us hanging. :)

    • 56 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 15:01

      Who, you and Zez?

The professor hasn’t noticed anything of the sort. What can you mean? ;)

Never to be saved, I think.

      • 57 Susan P September 27, 2013 at 17:46

Yes, Zez and me. Interesting concept, isn’t it? I’m surprised that Olmes let that ending slip through.

      • 58 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:31

It’s fascinating! Aren’t you scared of Zez just a bit?

      • 59 Susan P September 27, 2013 at 20:36

I am fearless, don’t you think?

      • 60 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:38

 Yes, I think so…but Zez!

  12. 61 L. Marie September 27, 2013 at 13:22

The Red-headed League is one of my favorite Sherlock Holmes stories, so of course it’s my favorite of Daddy Olmes’s cases, even though it didn’t turn out so well for him. Love the music and sound effects. Zez–classic!!

    • 62 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 15:00

Thank you muches! (Do you think Olmes deserved it?) Awesome. Zez is a bit scary–he scared the professor!

      • 63 L. Marie September 27, 2013 at 15:12

Though he’s slimy, I kinda feel sorry for Olmes. I’m sure he’ll have a good comeback.

      • 64 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 16:16

Oh, I bet he will too. Who could fail with Dr. Ratson?

  13. 65 FictionFan September 27, 2013 at 13:03

    Zez!!!!!!! :D :D

Brilliant, Professor! Poor old Olmes (but he kind of deserves it). Zez stole the show though…more than made up for the sad lack of my Schwarzy.

Can’t wait to meet Professor Morality…

Deeply concerned by the tags though – ‘The End’? Better not be…

PS Have I mentioned recently how much I love the Olmes music too?

    • 66 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 14:59

:D  He makes an appearance in Les Miz too, I think.

Many thanks! So do you like Zez or Schwarz better?

Is he in any of the stories??? I’ve looked…

Well, I couldn’t think up any more tags. So it was the end–it makes professorish sense.

:D Awesome! Sepperl (Mr. Fish) will be thrilled.

      • 67 FictionFan September 27, 2013 at 15:32

        Yay!!

Oooh, that’s an extremely difficult – nay, impossible – question! Zez’s gurgly hiss is very special, but then so is Schwarzy’s ‘Oh, no, no, no!’ But then Zez seems smart and intelligent, while Schwarzy…er…doesn’t. But Zez is wicked, while Schwarzy’s so sweet… And I’d have to factor in that Zez is an orange goblin… No! Impossible to choose…you’ll just have to provide opportunities for me to get to know them both better! :D

I’m afraid not, really. He gets mentioned in one of the long stories (The Valley of Fear, I think) as an evil mastermind behind most of the crime in London, but I think he only actually appears in The Final Problem (the waterfall incident) and we don’t want Olmes to die!!! (Not that he does, of course.) But all the TV and film productions just bung him in all over the place… (he also appears in a couple of episodes of Star Trek TNG)

        Whew! Relief!

      • 68 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 16:21

The professor will! (But you might not want to get to know Zez better…)

So, the professor is free to ‘put him in anywhere’, then? :) (Really? I’ve never watched that much Star Trek, but there must be something interesting about it.)

      • 69 FictionFan September 27, 2013 at 17:52

        Oh yes, I do!

I see no reason why you shouldn’t…on condition that you tell me who’s going to play him…

It might be a bit dated for someone as ageless as the Professor, but TNG was a very fine series in its day, with loads of literary references. And the guy who played Morality was yummy! ;)

      • 70 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:30

I’m not sure who I should recruit. Any ideas? Of course, it could be a totally new PL’er…

Every time you bring up Star Trek I think you mean the one with Bill Shatner–the only one the professor is semi-familiar with.

Yummy?! You know what we said about that, young lady!

      • 71 FictionFan September 27, 2013 at 21:34

Given that he ends up dead, I’m sorely tempted to say Mr Rubbishquite…but it has to be someone who can act evil (rather than just obnoxious) so perhaps not. Zez would be wonderful since it would mean more gurgly hissing…but then there’s the new, hunky, mysterious PL’er, MM2… Whoever you pick will bring his own unique interpretation to the role, I’m sure…

I’m far too young to remember the original series!!! TNG and Voyager are the best.

I’m so sorry! (But he was yummy…)

      • 72 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 23:33

Hehe. Mr. R would definitely not work. I’ll have to talk with Mic about it.

I’m too old to remember those!

        Hopeless! ;)

      • 73 FictionFan September 28, 2013 at 00:22

D’you know, I’m not totally convinced that there’s really such a person as ‘Mic’. Part of me thinks he’s just the Professor’s imaginary friend…

      • 74 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 16:19

Next you’ll be telling the professor you don’t believe Shnodgrate is real either.

  14. 75 Anja September 27, 2013 at 12:50

Oh no…..what happened??? And, they are souless gingers?

    • 76 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 14:56

I’m not sure. We probably don’t want to know the details, though. No, do you think so?

      • 77 Anja September 27, 2013 at 15:45

I want details. I’m all about being thorough. I don’t know….that’s why I asked silly

      • 78 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 16:23

But are details Punchyish, do you think? What did you want to know again? This dadblamed professorish mind!

      • 79 Anja September 27, 2013 at 16:33

I’m a detailist and that count some right? Ohhhh what did I want to know? That I think I should stop at third story ;)

      • 80 Professor VJ Duke September 27, 2013 at 20:28

That was mean. Well, I’m not sure if Mic is going to do a sequel. Should he?

      • 81 Anja September 28, 2013 at 02:14

If I have to write more….like a series of novels….yes Mic has to make a sequel. Fair? I am not mean….you know that. :)

      • 82 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 16:20

Very fair! And the professor accepts!

      • 83 Anja September 28, 2013 at 16:40

hahahaha…oh wait, did I agree to something?

      • 84 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 16:58

        I thought you did…didn’t you?

      • 85 Anja September 28, 2013 at 16:59

        uhhh no YOU did.

      • 86 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:02

Goodness. The professorish mind is to blame. I thought that we agreed a sequel in return for more stories…

      • 87 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:04

Ok ok ok FINE……I agree to that. You really make this so difficult :p

      • 88 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:08

You don’t have to if you don’t want to. Maybe only do one more, then?

      • 89 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:09

I will do as many as keep coming into my mind….. :)

      • 90 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:09

Awesome! Make the professor extra mean in the next one.

      • 91 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:11

Extra mean? But I do see him mean in the least bit. Maybe a little grouchy in the next one?

      • 92 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:13

        Is he really grouchy?

      • 93 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:14

He, who? The Professor or The Professor?

      • 94 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:14

        Umm…both.

      • 95 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:17

No, not at all. Both can get a little feisty when discussing Darby or P&P. That is only because The Professor is still in denial over some things. Now, The Professor, on the other hand, is more accepting of it.

      • 96 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:20

Well, at least this professor is sure about what he knows.

      • 97 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:21

And at least I am sure about what I know. :)

      • 98 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:24

And you know that the professor is very unromantic and doesn’t like Darby too much.

      • 99 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:26

I know he isn’t a big fan of Darby and that is understanding. I also know he likes pretend he lacks romance but as always, I point out this can’t be true. :)

      • 100 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:28

Think of it like this: DS is definitely not romantic and he’s rubbed off on the professor.

      • 101 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:31

Wait…..DS? Is my mind slipping now?

      • 102 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:32

        Daddy Salami.

      • 103 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:33

Oh goodness!!! I truly do not believe you have allowed him to rub on you I’m any way.

      • 104 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:34

        It’s horrible, I know.

      • 105 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:34

And you still can’t fool me. I’m hungry :(

      • 106 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:37

I think the professor is too.

      • 107 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:40

I think we should eat :D

      • 108 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:41

        I agree! :D

      • 109 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:43

I would share what I am making…but uploading can get so messy with food. :(

      • 110 Professor VJ Duke September 28, 2013 at 17:44

 The professor understands! Don’t worry about it.

      • 111 Anja September 28, 2013 at 17:45

oh…before I eat….please tell me you bought a new computer!
