Section A. Punchy Proverbs:

A short note from V. Shnodgrate:

“I apologize for my absence last week. I apologize for what you read last week. I apologize for Fats Henry’s proverb last week.”

~ V. Shnodgrate

(1) The world spins, but we are not aware of it.

(2) To be wicked is to embrace your nature.

(3) The outcome is always known.

Any favorites, PF?

““““““““““““

Section B. Something you should know about the professor:

I have decided that I do not want to be known as Smiles Riot. In fact, I should stick with my real name: VJ Duke. You may be wondering why the professor thinks of Smiles Riot as his hero. I should tell the story of our acquaintance.

““““““““““““

Section C. What the PL’ers have to say:

A short conversation:

SMILES RIOT: If I was on a park bench waiting for a bus, where would you be?

BUD PARKER: Bud, the question floors me, to be honest with you.

RIOT: But I didn’t ask for your honesty. I asked where you’d be.

PARKER: Boy, oh boy, bud. You’re a trip!

RIOT: If you’re waiting for the bus, I suppose you’re about to go on a trip. But since you couldn’t answer my question, I must assume you’re negative.

PARKER: Negative?

RIOT: Negative on brain power.

““““““““““““

Section D. Breaking News:

Bud Parker reported to the authorities that he met and spoke with Mr. Smiles Riot. It is believed, however, that Mr. Riot escaped to England with the stolen music box.

King Arthur has refused to give Smiles Riot up.

Mark Malone may be sent in to bring Mr. Riot to justice.

But The Veezler has ordered that Mr. Riot be left alone.

““““““““““““

Section E. Featured Story: King Arthur
by J. Freedwoppen

“Basically, we won’t give him up, because he’s not a villain, not a blackheart, and did nothing wrong in my kingdom!”

When asked about the threat that secret agent, Mark Malone, and Boris the Green pose, Arthur laughed.

“The only reason those two are still alive is because I’ve never caught them! They’ll never be able to apprehend Smiles Riot! Never!”

But some are not so sure.

““““““““““““

Section F. Ask a PL’er a question:

Any questions for a specific PL’er? Ask here! [If the professor forgot to ask your question, let me know of my blunder immediately!]

““““““““““““

Section G. Hearing from the PL Family:

PL family, if you have any questions about the Punchy Lands, characters, or anything Punchy, feel free to comment below.

The Punchy Times principal reporter, J. Freedwoppen, would be more than glad to cover or investigate your query. [Make sure to clearly indicate your question for Mr. Freedwoppen. If the professor forgot to ask your question, let me know of my blunder immediately!]

***

One question for J. Freedwoppen this week, from elprice2013 (Bethy):

Q: Why is Monday the 13th not more superstitious than Friday the 13th?

This is a very interesting question, Bethy. It turns out that Daddy Salami considers Monday the 13th to be more superstitious than Friday the 13th!
His reasoning is that his son, Ruber Salami, was born on Monday the 13th—hence, it’s far more superstitious.

Merlin considers both days to be highly superstitious.

So, it really depends on which PL’er you ask.
~ J. Freedwoppen.

Welcome back, Shnodgrate! I particularly love the second proverb this week.

I think VJ Duke may suit you best, Professor.

Sorry for my absence this week. I really need to figure out how to balance everything on top of work. I’ve been recently caught up with writing letters.

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 22:35

      That is a goody.

You’re right. I should have realized this sooner.

      No problem! Writing letters?

      • 3 MissTiffany January 27, 2014 at 19:43

Yes, writing letters. It’s part of my New Year’s Resolution, and I’ve been having a marvelous time writing them. Plus I just got an ink and quill set for my birthday, and it’s been a fun challenge learning how to write with it!

      • 4 Professor VJ Duke January 27, 2014 at 20:21

Oh, that would be so fun to write with a quill! You must post about it!!!

      • 5 MissTiffany January 27, 2014 at 20:36

        Haha, perhaps I will! :)

      • 6 Professor VJ Duke January 28, 2014 at 14:05

        Great!

  2. 7 Hazy January 24, 2014 at 08:36

I like (2)… To know yourself is to know both the light and darkness within you.

Why the sudden change of heart? Did the professor have some sort of epiphany? Smiles Riot seems like an interesting guy. I quite liked his conversation with Parker. :D

I’m also quite curious how Malone would go about his new mission. Being a secret agent, he intrigues me.

    • 8 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 15:00

      Very good point, Hazy.

Parker could have been a wee bit smarter, though. I don’t think he handled the situation well. (I think I might have. It’s the professorish brain!)

Between me and you, though, Weatherly is way better trained, and has a better head on his shoulders.

      • 9 Hazy February 13, 2014 at 05:17

Haha, yes. I reckon he could’ve handled it better.

I wonder what kind of covert operations Malone participated in… Weatherly is always better trained than anybody. A day doesn’t pass by when he doesn’t train.

      • 10 Professor VJ Duke February 13, 2014 at 14:42

I should take some lessons from him.

  3. 11 dysfunctional unit January 21, 2014 at 19:50

Well truly I made up only one..Origami-ish which would be “like or having the quality of the Japanese paper folding art, Origami”.. :)

    • 12 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 13:58

The professor likes that lots! Tell me, do you do Origami?

  4. 13 dysfunctional unit January 21, 2014 at 02:24

Professor I find myself drawn to yer magically odd little land by yer visit. I laughed out loud many times reading this posts though often wasn’t quite sure why :)
No seriously, odd, original, odoriferous, origamiish, and damn hilarious I look forward to reading more.

    • 14 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:17

      Aw, that’s awesome!

Ooo, there’s some fancy words in there…are they nice overall?

  5. 15 Painting Pundit January 21, 2014 at 02:24

    Proverb 2 is the best!!

Smiles sounds like one of those brilliantly insane people who make everybody else feel like the insane ones. He could be serious trouble! You are wise to change your plan. Why do you like insane heros?

Monday, the 13th is a Good Luck day!

    • 16 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:16

Well, Smiles and I have a history, you see…

      Is it really? :)

      • 17 Painting Pundit January 21, 2014 at 18:23

Waiting for that story! You will elaborate ??

      • 18 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:58

        I shall! Next week–if that’s acceptable.

      • 19 Painting Pundit January 21, 2014 at 19:18

        Oh yes! Should be good!

      • 20 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 13:57

        Awesome!

  6. 21 Jackie January 21, 2014 at 00:12

I like #1 but only mildly. The others? Meh – not so much.

Professor, please tell us the story of you and Smiles Riot. I’d love to know why you consider him a hero.

    • 22 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:11

How do they compare to Henry’s, would you say?

Okay! The professor shall tells it–but it’s scary!

      • 23 Jackie January 21, 2014 at 02:06

You know I could have sworn I clicked like on the PL Times, E17! I was feeling under the weather that day so I didn’t feel up to commenting but I remember clicking like. Dadblameit! It appears WordPress stole my like. I hate when they do that! I’ve fixed it by adding it again. Take that WordPress!

Anyway – the proverbs today are much better then Henry’s. But really it’s like the lessor of two evils cause I’m meh on both.

Scary is ok! I like scary stories.

      • 24 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:15

 WordPress sometimes likes to be dadblamery!

I see. Overall, they weren’t the professor’s favorites either.

        Shudder! I think I do!

  7. 25 The Dancing Rider January 20, 2014 at 22:29

Ha ha, Shnod apologizing. It is hard to choose only one, thus I choose all three as favorites this week! Wonder what Fats thinks about these!

Yes, please DO tell the story of your acquaintance with SR. I am happy you are sticking with your real name, professor.

That “conversation” is vexing. And, of course, the question posed by SR is dadblamery.

Of course King arthur will not give SR up. SR has the mysterious music box. Should SR be fed fish…….MM will have no one to collect.

    • 26 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:10

Well, I’m sure Shnod will be thrilled! Fats probably didn’t even read them, nor could he probably make sense of them if he did. :)

I shall tell it then, but it might get painful! Me too. :D

That’s what I thought. He seemed to be spewing dadblamery, didn’t he?

 That’s true. Knock him off, and then–Art could take the music box…

    • 27 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 19:50

It depends on the kind of fish, I think.

      • 28 The Dancing Rider January 21, 2014 at 21:56

Oh, but of course. But you know the ones I mean.

      • 29 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 22:29

        *shudder* Yes.

      • 30 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:12

        Cavootti fish, I suppose.

      • 31 Susan P January 22, 2014 at 15:10

        Ick

      • 32 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 21:04

That was a name of a professor fish.

      • 33 Susan P January 23, 2014 at 02:07

        Haha! good one.

      • 34 Professor VJ Duke January 23, 2014 at 17:07

        :D

  8. 35 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 20, 2014 at 19:45

    1. Yes..kinda like being stuck with a one track mind.
    2. Yes, but wicked can be blamed on Eve.
    3. Maybe? I am not so sure too much can change a situation.
    Winner for me is #1

I’m so glad, professor. Get that music box back here!!!!!!!!!!

I’m trying to figure out Arthur. Why does Bud have speaks with Smiles?

    Oh, and HI!

    • 36 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:07

      1. Like the professor and Audith.
      2. And Professor the Dragon.
      3. But maybe the outcome is known by someone else?

      I shall try!!!

 I like how you said that. Isn’t Bud something? He should have hurried and turned Smiles in right there and then!

      Hi!

      • 37 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 21, 2014 at 01:15

        Yes!!
        Yes!!
        Hmmm…
(See how you know me so well!) Twas just what I thought while I was reading those proverbs…

Good!! I love where this is headed. I have a fondest to this music box I know nothing about.
Doust thou knowest what it meaneth to Audith?

Thank you! I thought you would. He is truly on my last nerve. Why won’t he answer him? And yes, he should have.

        Hi! :D

      • 38 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:36

(Ooo, what did thou think especially?)

No! What does it mean? (I think you’re playing the Riddler.)

        But poor Mr. Riot…

      • 39 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 21, 2014 at 05:33

        Oh no you don’t…

        ( I suppose I am.)

Doesn’t Smiles know that if he was waiting for the bus I’d be waiting there, too. He needs company, correct? Isn’t that what Bud should have said, professor?

      • 40 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:19

        Oh yes you are!

 You would be waiting there! That is so perfectly Audith. Now the professor wouldn’t have.

      • 41 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 21, 2014 at 18:52

        … … … … ! (You love it!)

:P I can’t help who I am, you know. Yes, the professor would have been long, long gone.

      • 42 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 19:00

I do! And yes, I would have. Too scary.

      • 43 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 21, 2014 at 19:08

I can see how being afraid of a hero could be scary. Its for the best that you didn’t accompany him on the bench.

      • 44 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 13:56

I suppose you’re right. Unless, of course, you sat between us.

      • 45 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 22, 2014 at 14:04

        You know I would, Duketh.

Now what is to come of this music box?

      • 46 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:17

        Well–you’ll see!

      • 47 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 22, 2014 at 15:59

        I know. I know.

      • 48 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 21:10

You only know what I tell you.

      • 49 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 22, 2014 at 23:08

You forgot your horns… I like when you boss feisty around.

      • 50 Professor VJ Duke January 23, 2014 at 16:57

        Haha! I’ll go get them.

      • 51 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 23, 2014 at 20:03

        :)

  9. 52 Bethy January 20, 2014 at 18:42

You know if you put all the proverbs together they would make a rather interesting poem. #2 might be my favorite but it depends on what wicked means…if it means more like not conforming to expectations then of course its my favorite. However if wicked means more like pushing people off cliffs then not so much.
I would love to hear more about Smiles Riot. A good story is always welcome!
If Smiles was waiting for a bus I would probably be doing dishes or laundry. I think that’s what I did all morning!
The Veezler sounds like someone from “There’s A Wocket In My Pocket” Maybe he rooms with the Zall who scoots down the hall?
Thanks for the answer to my question! It always depends on who you ask doesn’t it?

    • 53 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:03

How about wicked like the professor?

 I hate doing laundry and dishes. You’re not depressed now, are you?

  But what does Veezler rhyme with?

It definitely does! Especially in the PL.

      • 54 Bethy January 21, 2014 at 20:26

Of course wicked like the professor!

I don’t mind doing laundry and dishes usually. I get lots of day dreaming time that way! Unless the Princess wants to play 20 questions…what gets me is the endlessness of dishes and laundry. It’s dadblamery!
Well Veezler obviously rhymes with Weezler. In fact, Veezler sounds like someone saying weasel with a German accent.

      • 55 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:07

:D I’m so proud right now.

I like 20 questions. I’m no good at it, but I like it. I do hope Princess is fair about it.

Well, you’ll get to hear him this Friday.

      • 56 Bethy January 23, 2014 at 01:00

        haha!

Well she’s occasionally fair. But sometimes she gets stuck on asking the same question over and over and then I get stuck saying things like, “Because I said so!” and “Because I’m the Mommy!”

Oooo! How exciting! I wonder if he’s German like I imagined. :)

      • 57 Professor VJ Duke January 23, 2014 at 17:00

That sounds like it could be dadblame fun!

        Oh, I don’t know…

      • 58 Bethy January 24, 2014 at 19:12

It sounds like a game right up the Professor’s alley for sure!

      • 59 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 22:29

        It sure do!

    • 60 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 19:52

And sometimes the same person may give you different answers at different times.

      • 61 Bethy January 21, 2014 at 20:21

oh boy. Sounds like the Princess. No wonder I feel right at home in Punchy Lands!

      • 62 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 20:26

        LOL

  10. 63 bardictale January 20, 2014 at 16:52

    But I liked Fat Henry’s proverb…
Do you think the king sent Smiles Riot to steal the music box?

    • 64 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:34

You know, the professor didn’t mind it at all, either.

What an idea! I didn’t think about that. You think it’s probable?

      • 65 bardictale January 20, 2014 at 18:31

Why, yes! Why else would he house a convicted felon?

      • 66 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:02

That’s true! Art must be up to no good!

  11. 67 portergirl January 20, 2014 at 15:49

Number 2 is the best, certainly. But then, I would say that, wouldn’t I? I feel strangely pleased that Smiles Riot has made it safely to England. We like mentally unstable people over here. Have you seen the Mayor of London?! But I digress. I look forward to the further adventures of Smiles Riot :)

    • 68 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:34

      You would! I might, too.

 Just looked at the mayor… He might give me nightmares!

      • 69 portergirl January 20, 2014 at 19:12

I did wonder if had actually escaped from the PL, actually. He is a very bizarre chap. Quite like him, truth be told :)

      • 70 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:04

        Is he funny?

      • 71 portergirl January 21, 2014 at 13:15

Yes, but I don’t think he always means to be. He rides around London on a bicycle and once came to the aid of a young lady being robbed in the street!

      • 72 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:20

 The professor is impressed. Would have never guessed it from his pic.

      • 73 portergirl January 21, 2014 at 18:41

He is also strangely attractive to the ladies. I cannot understand this myself, but he has a bit of a reputation!

      • 74 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 19:00

        Really? Him???

      • 75 portergirl January 21, 2014 at 19:02

I know!! British ladies must be very easy to please

      • 76 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 19:02

The professor is shocked about it, really. Even FEF likes him!

      • 77 portergirl January 21, 2014 at 19:12

He is pretty awesome, as a mayor, but I do not see the attraction in a romantic sense. That said, I guess money and power can be very alluring

      • 78 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 13:56

He does look rather like a funny fellow. :)

    • 79 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 19:53

You’re not talking about any of the Royals, are you portergirl?

      • 80 portergirl January 21, 2014 at 19:56

No – the Mayor Of London, Boris Johnson :)

  12. 81 Debbie January 20, 2014 at 15:43

Sorry, but I need to say I’m not a fan of this week’s proverbs. Here’s why:
    1) Sometimes we are aware of the world’s spinning. Lie on your back and watch the clouds sail past, or watch daylight turn into night.
    2) Being “wicked” isn’t natural for everybody, only the wicked. Some are just good to the core!
    3) The outcome is never known! Oh, sure, you can hedge your bets, but rarely can you know ALL things for certain.

    • 82 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:31

You know, the professor must try lying on his back and doing that. It would be professorish.

And the professor isn’t wicked, you know.

      I bet Zez knows all!

  13. 83 ladycheetah7 January 20, 2014 at 15:32

@ V Schnodgrate ~ Welcome back and thank goodness for some real proverbs. @ PVJ ~ If Smiles Riot is not your evil-er twin or alter ego it remains a mystery as to his identity. You two are so much alike, especially since he just happened to disappear and not get caught.
As for the proverb….this week’s winner is #2.

    • 84 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:30

Lady, V. appreciates that you appreciate his proverbs! Now, if Mr. R did one, I’m sure you’d like it.

You think the professor is wickedly bad, don’t you? (If so, then I’m like Jason Bourne. Everyone is chasing me and nobody is catching me. Makes the professor sparkling cool.)

      • 85 Jazzy Couldren January 20, 2014 at 18:22

Hey, I’s caught you by your piggy toe.

      • 86 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:01

        MM, you clearly did not.

      • 87 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 19:55

Next time, MM, take a picture to prove it. :D

      • 88 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:02

        I bet he won’t agree.

      • 89 Susan P January 23, 2014 at 19:02

I dunno – MM has his hands full now.

      • 90 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 14:49

        He always seems to.

      • 91 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 14:55

Well, he can’t resist meddling in things that are none of his business. Bound to happen that he gets overloaded.

      • 92 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 15:14

I think all the PL’ers could be that way. I mean, hey, so is DS.

      • 93 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 15:21

DS positively revels in meddling in things not his business.

      • 94 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 16:20

 And maybe the professor does too.

      • 95 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 21:00

Was that supposed to come as a surprise?

      • 96 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 22:41

        Yes!

      • 97 Susan P January 25, 2014 at 15:32

        Well done, then!

      • 98 Professor VJ Duke January 25, 2014 at 23:18

      • 99 ladycheetah7 January 21, 2014 at 20:53

You sir are rude and crude.

      • 100 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:08

Me, Lady? I don’t buy it.

  14. 101 Brenda January 20, 2014 at 14:59

I like no. 2 best. Certainly, being self-indulgent is wicked, that’s how I was raised. LOL Monday the 13th has never bothered me, but then I don’t have Merlin’s issues.

    • 102 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:28

      Isn’t wicked fun sometimes?

You know, I don’t think anyone has Merlin’s issues. He’s…strange.

      • 103 Brenda January 20, 2014 at 22:44

“Wicked good” is an expression around here.

      • 104 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:11

I like it! Sounds professorish, doesn’t it?

      • 105 Brenda January 21, 2014 at 01:50

Another is “Wicked Pissah” which is much harder to define. :-)

      • 106 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:14

:D I like that one, too!

      • 107 Brenda January 21, 2014 at 18:37

I’ve looked it up, and it either means awesome, or that sucks. How many words mean the exact opposite? LOL It’s so Boston.

      • 108 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:59

I like it still! The professor might use it, I think.

      • 109 Brenda January 21, 2014 at 19:01

That would be wicked pissah, Professor. I wait with bated breath. :-)

      • 110 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 19:02

        Too wicked?

      • 111 Brenda January 21, 2014 at 19:03

Oh, now, don’t get cold feet.

      • 112 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 13:55

I’ll do it if you do!

      • 113 Brenda January 22, 2014 at 13:57

Hmmm, I already have in comments. :-)

      • 114 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:16

        Well…well…well..!

      • 115 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 19:56

Someone is going to end up with a sticky wicket if this keeps up.

      • 116 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:02

I like ending up there, actually, Susan…

      • 117 Susan P January 23, 2014 at 19:02

        I am not surprised. ;)

      • 118 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 14:49

        Smiling…

      • 119 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 14:55

        Grinning.

      • 120 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 15:14

        Me too!

  15. 121 L. Marie January 20, 2014 at 14:49

I have to go with number 3. And if Smiles is on a park bench waiting for a bus, I’m also driving past not in a jaguar but my own vehicle–a Porsche.

I must know the story of your acquaintance with Smiles Riot.

    • 122 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:27

      Haha, what color?

Okay, the professor will tell it.

  16. 123 Susan P January 20, 2014 at 14:46

Those proverbs sound like Shnoddy is getting all zen on us. What’s up with that? Well, except for his apologies. Did no one tell him, “Never apologize for anything?”

Sounds like the Professor is having an identity crisis.

That was an interesting conversation. /Was/ it a conversation?

Question for PL (for whomever can answer it) : What is a vleezer?

I think I asked a question last week, but I don’t remember anymore what it was. So, it’s lost forever.

    • 124 FictionFan January 20, 2014 at 15:41

I suspect The Veezler is a superhero – kind of like Batman, only he wears a weasel outfit and speaks with a German accent…

      • 125 Susan P January 20, 2014 at 15:50

        Sehr gut!

      • 126 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:34

        What’s it mean, please?

      • 127 Susan P January 20, 2014 at 18:08

        “Very good.”

      • 128 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:01

        In Portuguese?

      • 129 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 02:39

        Auf Deutsch.

      • 130 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:17

It means, “I’m German.” Is the professor right? :)

      • 131 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 18:18

        If you wish.

      • 132 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:57

No, go ahead and embarrass me.

      • 133 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 19:48

        It simply means, “in German.”

      • 134 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 13:58

I don’t think the professor would ever be hired as a translator.

      • 135 Susan P January 23, 2014 at 19:02

        Did you aspire to such?

      • 136 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 14:50

At one time, I probably did.

      • 137 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 14:57

        A-ha!

      • 138 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 15:14

        Oh dear.

      • 139 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 15:22

        :D

    • 140 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:27

Well, he’s either rusty–since he’s been away–or he’s trying to confuse us. Or, theses proverbs are works of art. But his apologies came across as accusations, didn’t they? He wasn’t happy that I got other PL’ers to do the proverbs.

I may very well be. It’s horrific.

      What would you say?

      Just marked it down!

Sorry! The professor is so dadblame dull. I knew someone else asked something. I shall mark it down from now on!

      • 141 Susan P January 20, 2014 at 18:07

Don’t go all getting perfect on me now. The apologies sounded a bit self-righteous. I would be quiet about it.

      • 142 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:00

        But…but…rats!

      • 143 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 02:38

        hamsters

      • 144 Susan P January 20, 2014 at 18:08

‘Twas my fault for not flagging it.

      • 145 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:01

        No, entirely the professor’s fault.

      • 146 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 02:38

        No, no, I was remiss.

  17. 147 FictionFan January 20, 2014 at 14:28

2’s so right! But old Shnoddy doesn’t have a wicked nature, just foolish…

You should, VJ Duke. (No, sorry, that just doesn’t work – Prof or C-W-W are your real names…except when you’re being…ahem….Mic, of course)

If Smiles was on a park bench waiting for a bus, I’d be driving past in my sleek and shiny red Jaguar…

Smiles should fit right in in England… ;) The Veezler? Boris the Green? (Did you know the Mayor of London is called Boris…)

    • 148 Susan P January 20, 2014 at 14:31

I’m laughing at your comment and haven’t even read the Times yet! :D

    • 149 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:22

It makes sense FEF would like this. Poor Shnod. And he’s not American.

I told Mic about this the other day, and he laughed! The professor doesn’t find it funny!

      Red? Not pink?

      He is? I hadn’t a clue.

      • 150 FictionFan January 20, 2014 at 20:43

Ah – that explains why he’s not cute!

I bet he did! I bet he nearly laughed your head off! (Poor C-W-W!)

Pink??? Do I seem like a pink person to you???

He’s awfully funny – I hope he rules the world one day. I think politicians should be selected on the basis of their ability to deliver jokes…

      • 151 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 01:08

How would you know, young lady?

    My funeral is approaching.

I don’t know… Sometimes you do, and sometimes you don’t. I think it depends if you’re pretending to be girly. (What color would it be?)

        So, he’s really funny?

      • 152 FictionFan January 21, 2014 at 15:47

Well, he’s a befuddled old fool – and by definition BOFs are not cute…

        Am I annoying you?

Pretending to be girly? Ooh, you can be so cutting! (Red!)

Yes, he used to appear on panel shows before he took up politics and he was brill. He was a befuddled young fool – I wonder if he’s related to old Shnoddy?

      • 153 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 18:25

No! It’s just that FEF is very witty–too witty!

What did I say? I didn’t mean it! The professor isn’t sure if you like to be girly or not. Oh dear! (Red? That’s just because the professor wants a red Vette!)

Haha! Well, he doesn’t look like Shnoddy. His pic is very comical though.

      • 154 FictionFan January 21, 2014 at 20:39

        Ooh, I’m flattered now…

The Professor is actually quite right – FF sometimes likes to be a Girly-Girl and at other times a Womanly-Woman…but thankfully never a Manly-Man…

I think he’s lovely – cuddly even! And such a wicked twinkle in his eye…

      • 155 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:08

        See? The professor knows all.

He looks playful, and he looks like he needs a beating.

      • 156 FictionFan January 22, 2014 at 16:51

It’s true – the Professor sees right through me…

      • 157 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 21:15

        But I’ve never seen you…

      • 158 FictionFan January 23, 2014 at 01:14

        Ditto!

      • 159 Professor VJ Duke January 23, 2014 at 17:05

        O professor e mau.

      • 160 FictionFan January 23, 2014 at 22:01

The Professor is an emu??? I’m gobsmacked!!!

      • 161 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 14:55

 Yes! That’s me. I like that guy to bits.

      • 162 Susan P January 21, 2014 at 19:58

Now then! A red ‘vette? Sounds like a classic case of midlife crisis.

      • 163 Professor VJ Duke January 22, 2014 at 14:03

Yes, yes. Have I told you that the professor is very old? He’s very old. Older than midlife crisis, in fact. Far older. Way older.

      • 164 Susan P January 23, 2014 at 19:01

        Seeing is believing…

      • 165 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 14:48

        I don’t believe it.

      • 166 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 14:54

I believe you don’t believe it.

      • 167 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 15:12

The professor must think on that! :)

      • 168 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 15:20

It’s kind of like trying to figure out if you walked to school or carried your lunch.

      • 169 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 16:19

        Or worse…

      • 170 Susan P January 24, 2014 at 20:50

        What? What could be worse?

      • 171 Professor VJ Duke January 24, 2014 at 22:39

        Falling off a mountain?

      • 172 Susan P January 25, 2014 at 15:31

How does one fall off of a mountain?

      • 173 Professor VJ Duke January 25, 2014 at 23:15

Didn’t Auntie Mame’s husband manage the trick?

      • 174 Susan P January 26, 2014 at 01:58

        I don’t recall.

      • 175 Professor VJ Duke January 27, 2014 at 13:48

        Rats.

  18. 176 Anja January 20, 2014 at 13:57

I think 1…we all know. Disagree with 2 because not all want to or are designed to be wicked and 3 is accurate. We all come to the same outcome in life. :)

    • 177 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:17

So do you like 3 or 1 better?

      • 178 Anja January 20, 2014 at 17:55

        Ummmmm 3. It’s realistic

      • 179 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2014 at 00:57

        I think so, too.

  19. 180 Brooke Thompson January 20, 2014 at 13:56

I was reading through your “about writing”. I might have some tips for you if you want. I am a published author and I own a publishing company. Let me know if you want to chit chat. –Brooke

    • 181 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:16

      Sure thing!

      • 182 Brooke Thompson January 20, 2014 at 17:18

        Great! brooklinskye@att.net

      • 183 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2014 at 17:35
