The Fish Fear

The Professor must share a quick moment of triumph with you, dear PF. I took this following shot while hunting dangerous octopuses.

These fish all look scared, don’t they? Sure they do, dadblameit! And that’s because they see the Professor. (You may have to zoom in to see their frightened expressions. Also, notice how they just paused and stared in fear.)

Do you live in your fish tank?

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 12:31

      I do not! Why?

      • 3 A Mermaid Named (E.D.) April 1, 2014 at 01:11

Well, I figured you did since the picture you took looked so clear, like you were actually in the water with the fish.

      • 4 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 02:39

Wouldn’t it be fun to do that?

  2. 5 Tonia March 28, 2014 at 00:50

Wow, u do have a fabulous camera. Were u snorkeling or scuba diving?

or were u inside a water craft?

I do love calamari. hope u captured it so we can have it fried in corn meal? yum! :)

    • 6 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 18:26

      What’s the difference?

But doesn’t it tend to be chewy?

  3. 7 Bethy March 27, 2014 at 13:07

What in the world do you hunt octopuses for?

    • 8 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:24

I’m not sure. But there must be a reason.

      • 9 Bethy March 30, 2014 at 18:36

Do you eat them? Are they scarier then the fish?

      • 10 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 12:31

I’ve never tried to eat them, and yes they are! Much scarier for a warrior to catch, you know.

      • 11 Bethy March 31, 2014 at 13:32

        Ah-ha! That’s why…you are a warrior seeking a challenge.

      • 12 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 20:21

        That’s it!

  4. 13 icedmocha34 March 26, 2014 at 20:37

    I looove fish!
Well, except sharks. One time we went to the aquarium and this shark looked like he really wanted to eat my mom….it was quite creepy.

    • 14 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:10

Goodness! I hope you harpooned it.

      • 15 icedmocha34 March 27, 2014 at 18:22

It was in a giant tank.

      • 16 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 23:39

No excuse! Ned Land wouldn’t have let that stop him!

  5. 17 Nancy Loderick March 26, 2014 at 20:12

    Hey Professor,

I must admit that I am mortally afraid of any fish, no matter how tiny. This fear is so much that I hesitate to even put my toe into the ocean.

    Nancy

    • 18 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:09

Nancy, the professor understands such a fear, for sure. Sharks are scary beasts!

  6. 19 Jackie March 26, 2014 at 11:45

One of the fish looks angry!

    • 20 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:26

Do you think they were mad at me, Jackie?

      • 21 Jackie March 26, 2014 at 18:29

They might have been if you disturbed them.

      • 22 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:41

        I think I might have…oh dear.

      • 23 Jackie March 26, 2014 at 19:08

I’d be careful if I were you – you never know who those little fish are friends with! 0_o

      • 24 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 13:53

*shock* What a thought! They might bring reef sharks or something!

  7. 25 bardictale March 26, 2014 at 10:36

    Did you find the octopuses?

    • 26 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:19

I did not! What should we make of that, Bard?

      • 27 bardictale March 27, 2014 at 05:55

That next time you shouldn’t scare the fish…

      • 28 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:22

        I really didn’t mean, too…

      • 29 bardictale March 27, 2014 at 14:33

You should go apologize then, professor.

      • 30 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 23:21

Oh, do I have to, Bard?

      • 31 bardictale March 28, 2014 at 07:17

That’s the polite thing to do

      • 32 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 18:39

Can you do if for me, Bard?

      • 33 bardictale March 29, 2014 at 16:49

No, you need to do it, unless you fear for your life.

      • 34 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 12:31

A warrior never fears for his life! (But maybe you could?)

      • 35 bardictale March 31, 2014 at 19:19

I firmly believe that you should, my friend. If they won’t listen, I shall do so in your stead.

      • 36 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 20:58

        Well, okay, Bard–could you please?

      • 37 bardictale April 1, 2014 at 19:58

Only after you try first. Won’t budge on this one, professor.

      • 38 Professor VJ Duke April 2, 2014 at 12:25

Okay, Bard. I shall do it.

  8. 39 Susan P March 25, 2014 at 22:15

Poor dears. How dare you disturb their tranquility?

    • 40 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:23

Dears? Look at those stupid expressions!

      • 41 Susan P March 26, 2014 at 11:08

        More like stupefied by fear.

      • 42 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:26

        Fear of the professor?

      • 43 Susan P March 26, 2014 at 19:29

Of course – look how big you are compared with them? How big are you?

      • 44 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:07

        How do you mean?

      • 45 Susan P March 27, 2014 at 20:01

I give up. How do I mean?

      • 46 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 23:54

Well–I’ll tell you if you guess right!

      • 47 Susan P March 28, 2014 at 12:01

Oh–just go play football with Charley Brown and Lucy.

      • 48 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 18:50

Now you want me to break my neck. Good noodles!

      • 49 Susan P March 28, 2014 at 19:52

Dadblameit, there’s no pleasing the man.

      • 50 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 22:33

You may give me a cherry sucker.

      • 51 Susan P March 29, 2014 at 13:09

*hands the Professor a cherrrrry sucker*

      • 52 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 12:25

*stases it in his breast pocket for later use*

      • 53 Susan P March 31, 2014 at 13:57

        ;)

  9. 54 deepbluesandseafoamgreens March 25, 2014 at 21:06

After zooming in on their darling faces, it appears to me that perhaps, just maybe….the little water friends would like to accompany you to the punchy lands, yet fear potential disappointment. They look as if they wouldn’t know what to say, and wonder “would SUCH a charismatic, and jazzy professor let us in?”

    And side note: gorgeous image.

    • 55 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:14

Ohhhh….really, VQ? You could be right. And they’re such nice thought, too, aren’t they? It could make me  you know. How about you bring them along?

      Many thanks!

  10. 56 The Dancing Rider March 25, 2014 at 21:05

They do look like their eyes are buggy – and they look frozen/starleted. Must have been your diving with Ex during your hunt…..

    • 57 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:13

Yes, that’s it! And they thought I looked strange in that tight suit thingy. Highly uncomfortable.

  11. 58 ladycheetah7 March 25, 2014 at 18:59

This picture is beautiful and the fish look picture perfect. Perhaps they were in a rush to get past the camera.

    • 59 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:50

Perhaps you’re right. Did you ever snorkel, Lady?

      • 60 ladycheetah7 March 25, 2014 at 20:15

No. This lady can’t swim and is afraid to.

      • 61 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:07

        Me too.

    • 62 Susan P March 25, 2014 at 22:10

      Word!

      • 63 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:23

        Why word, Susan?

      • 64 Susan P March 26, 2014 at 11:07

I should have thought it evident.

      • 65 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:25

        But why?

      • 66 Susan P March 26, 2014 at 19:27

Well. On a scale of 1 to 20, he’s got it nailed.

      • 67 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:06

        The professor doesn’t.

      • 68 Susan P March 27, 2014 at 20:00

        *hands professor hammer and nails*

      • 69 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 23:54

        *makes a box*

      • 70 Susan P March 28, 2014 at 11:58

Are you making a box in hopes of catching a fish?

      • 71 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 18:50

        Can you catch a fish in a box? I don’t think so…

      • 72 Susan P March 28, 2014 at 19:52

        Oh, but you can.

      • 73 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 22:33

        Can not!

      • 74 Susan P March 29, 2014 at 13:07

        Prove it.

      • 75 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 12:23

The professor can’t prove anything–save that he is dull.

      • 76 Susan P March 31, 2014 at 13:55

*gets out the knife sharpener* I’ll help you out with that.

      • 77 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 20:33

        Haha! But it might hurt!

      • 78 Susan P March 31, 2014 at 21:19

What can I say? Life is dangerous.

      • 79 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 02:11

        Unless you have a katana…

      • 80 Susan P April 1, 2014 at 12:19

That makes it even more dangerous.

      • 81 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 18:13

        How so?

      • 82 Susan P April 1, 2014 at 18:17

You might be tempted to use it.

      • 83 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 18:45

        Not me!

    • 84 deanthefish March 26, 2014 at 00:34

      Me three.

      • 85 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:08

Never admit such things, Mr. Fish. It might confuse. And we don’t allow confusion here.

  12. 86 laugraeva March 25, 2014 at 18:41

Is “PF” an acronym for “Punchy Family”?

    • 87 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:49

Yes, it is! How did you figure it out? I’m still working on the intro page, so I’m curious.

      • 88 laugraeva March 25, 2014 at 19:51

        I’m a clever bean!

      • 89 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:05

You sure are! Please tell the professor your secrets…

      • 90 laugraeva March 26, 2014 at 07:57

It’s that third person again! Imagine how much of a clever bean I would be if I worked out the mystery of the Professor.

      • 91 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:19

        But will you do it?

      • 92 laugraeva March 26, 2014 at 22:12

        Maybe one day!

      • 93 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:11

        One day soon!

  13. 94 weggieboy March 25, 2014 at 18:30

Good to know you actually got out in the sun and got a little color on your academic whiteness!

    • 95 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:49

Yes, isn’t it? Would you dive?

  14. 96 desertdweller29 March 25, 2014 at 15:41

The Professor can breathe underwater? I notice the capital! Yahoo!

    • 97 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:48

The Professor is making use of it. Thank you for the suggestion! I can circular breathe…does that count?

  15. 98 cravesadventure March 25, 2014 at 15:34

Beautiful Capture:) I do not care for the spiny and stingy types in the ocean! Happy Tuesday.

    • 99 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:47

Me neither! Scary, huh? Happy Tuesday to you too. How’s your day going?

  16. 100 L. Marie March 25, 2014 at 14:56

    FictionFan’s comment cracked me up!
Lovely shot!!! So colorful. I’ve never gone snorkeling.

    • 101 deanthefish March 25, 2014 at 18:20

How naughty, getting a laugh at my expense!

I’ve went snorkeling but in a region of the Atlantic which was so turbulent, nothing could be seen, so I’m not sure that counts.

      • 102 FictionFan March 25, 2014 at 19:17

        A fish snorkelling. Surrealism lives!

    • 103 deanthefish March 25, 2014 at 19:34

      :P

    • 104 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:46

Me neither. Isn’t FEF rather wicked?

  17. 105 FictionFan March 25, 2014 at 14:06

Which one is Dean? Is he hiding behind a rock?

    • 106 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:40

Mr. Fish isn’t really a fish, you know. Just like you’re not a cat. But the professor is a group of white letters.

      • 107 deanthefish March 25, 2014 at 20:08

        Thank you Professor!

      • 108 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:07

        Right on, Mr. Fish!

      • 109 Susan P March 25, 2014 at 22:12

Why is it that everything you say is clear as mud?

      • 110 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:23

        Me…well…that’s cruel. Isn’t mud clear?

      • 111 Susan P March 26, 2014 at 11:07

        Yes, and no.

      • 112 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:26

        The professor tries to be…

      • 113 Susan P March 26, 2014 at 19:28

        Is the Professor trying? *snicker*

      • 114 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:07

        Of course! Always! Dadblameit…

      • 115 Susan P March 27, 2014 at 20:01

There, there now. Everything will be all right. Eventually.

      • 116 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 23:54

        Eventually?!

      • 117 Susan P March 28, 2014 at 12:00

Right. According to Stephen King’s short story collection, Everything’s Eventual.

      • 118 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 18:50

        SK is a snook!

      • 119 Susan P March 28, 2014 at 19:52

        Is not.

      • 120 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 22:33

        Is so!

      • 121 Susan P March 29, 2014 at 13:09

He’ll be writing a book about you if you’re not careful.

      • 122 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 12:23

        What would he call it?

      • 123 Susan P March 31, 2014 at 13:57

        Nightmare on the beach?

      • 124 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 20:33

But the professor isn’t on the beach! (Good title, though.)

      • 125 Susan P March 31, 2014 at 21:20

I live an hour from the beach. When the Professor visits us, Harry and I will take you to the beach. Not at spring break, though. It might be too much for an elderly professor.

      • 126 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 02:12

Only an hour? Wowawee! That’s awesome. Is it busy during spring break?

      • 127 Susan P April 1, 2014 at 12:20

One of the busiest times of year, dear Professor. Bike week being one of the other busy times.

      • 128 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 18:13

Do they ride bikes a lot?

      • 129 Susan P April 1, 2014 at 18:17

Does who ride bikes a lot? The bikers? Certainly.

      • 130 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 18:45

        Floridans?

      • 131 FictionFan March 25, 2014 at 22:45

I see. Thanks for clarifying that for me, Alphabet.

      • 132 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:24

Haha. The professor isn’t an alphabet!

      • 133 FictionFan March 26, 2014 at 14:38

        Do Americans get Alphabetti Spaghetti?

      • 134 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:33

I’ve had it before. I like it, you know!

      • 135 FictionFan March 26, 2014 at 22:56

Me too – though I prefer Spaghetti Hoops. I tend to find I can’t help playing with Alphabetti Spaghetti rather than eating it.

      • 136 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:13

I always try to spell something out! And I’d do that at a fancy dinner party, too!

      • 137 FictionFan March 27, 2014 at 18:31

I’ve never been offered Alphabetti Spaghetti at a fancy dinner party…but then I’ve never eaten at Ruber’s…

      • 138 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 23:40

Me neither. But I’d like to be offered such a fare, then.

      • 139 FictionFan March 28, 2014 at 02:30

        Me too!

      • 140 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 18:33

We’ll have to throw a party like that one day…it would be too much fun!

      • 141 FictionFan March 28, 2014 at 23:29

Hehe! Yes! With chocolate pudding for afters…

      • 142 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 11:53

And we’ll have chocolate milk for you.

      • 143 FictionFan March 31, 2014 at 15:43

        Yummy!

      • 144 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 20:46

        *Smiles*

  18. 145 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 25, 2014 at 13:54

Dangerous octopuses? You can’t swim, Duke. What are you doing in there?? Those fish are merely waiting for you to drown so they can have lunch.

Or I’m completely off and I’m just ready for lunch and it’s only 9:00. That may be it… :)

    • 146 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:36

*laughs lots* You’re not supposed to remember that! You think they’d eat me? *shocked to his boots*

You know, Audith, lunch is my favorite meal of the day, and I’m always expecting it.

      • 147 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 25, 2014 at 20:31

LOL..whoops. Sorry. :) Yes and probably in one bite! *your black boots?*

Haha…Duketh, I think that is one great admission. Lunch is the best!

      • 148 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:09

One bite! Now I am a bit scared! (Hmm…brownish…)

        Especially when there’s carrot sticks!

      • 149 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 26, 2014 at 00:11

        You survived. ..pipe down! (Nice)

Is that all we’re getting? Great. Remind me to never take you to lunch.

      • 150 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:31

        But barely! Now I’ll be scared. ( :) )

lol They’re good! I was going to let you decide the rest…

      • 151 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 26, 2014 at 00:33

Well, whose idea was it in the furst place? Probably some giggling girl…you will never learn, Duke.

LOL…oh, okay. Let us have some celery then just incase you decide on something spicey. :)

      • 152 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:08

Shouldn’t girls be trusted, Audith? I thought as much!

Haha, okay! Chicken wings, too, then.

      • 153 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 26, 2014 at 23:27

Any girl by your side should be one you can trust, Duketh. You thought nothing, Sir!

LOL *grinning ear to ear* Oh my gosh…oh my gosh! Okay, wings it is!! My favorite…mango habanero…holy hotness! ! The trick is to just eat them. Never stopping or our mouths will melt off..

      • 154 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:18

The professor never thinks, this is true!

Audith likes wings! Coolio. Never had that flavor, but I’d try it!

      • 155 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 27, 2014 at 17:30

        *laughs but doesn’t believe you*

        I do!! Probably a Texas thing…

      • 156 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 23:30

That’s quite nice of you, Audith.

Maybe. But I love them too!

      • 157 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 28, 2014 at 02:34

What was nice? Are you tricking me into something, Duke?

Let’s have them while watching sports replay for the day. *feels content and starts searching the tv channel for your blue bouncy ball tree incident* (“Isn’t this nice, Duketh” she teases.)

      • 158 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 18:36

Well, it was nice that you didn’t believe I don’t know anything. Wasn’t that nice of you, Audith!

But this is mean of you! lol You won’t find the incident. I killed the camera guys that taped it.

      • 159 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 29, 2014 at 13:09

Well, you know I how I feel about you. Your smartness pushes back on infinity. Yes!!! Twas nice of me, Duketh!!!
        *laughs, is that better*

Well, I’ve never said I wasn’t sorta kinda in some way mean… lol
*throws the remote* You killed the camera guys!? *looking straight into your red eyes*

      • 160 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 12:25

On infinity…I think I’m honored about that…wowawee! *laughs too, knowing full well frowning and gurgling is better, but he won’t tell Audith that for fear of ice*

No tantrums, Audith! *laughs* *in his red eyes, Audith sees the brutal death of the camera guys played out*

      • 161 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 31, 2014 at 15:16

You’re welcome!! So sweet if you, Duketh. *calls you a chicken*

But they are fun to watch. *hides her eyes with her shirt* Duke…

      • 162 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2014 at 20:43

        But I can’t be sweet, can I?

        I’m sorry!

      • 163 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 31, 2014 at 22:14

I don’t know. I’m losing my reserve…you can be anything you’d like, Duke. *tries reverse psychology as a last ditch effort*

        Prove it…

      • 164 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 02:28

        I’d like to be…a hyena.

        I can’t!

      • 165 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 1, 2014 at 04:08

        What ever for, Duke!?

        *laughs*

      • 166 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2014 at 18:07

        I’m not sure.

        Triumphantly, I suppose.

      • 167 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 1, 2014 at 20:12

You just don’t want to tell me…

        No, out of defeat.

      • 168 Professor VJ Duke April 2, 2014 at 12:31

        I’m not sure, dadblameit!

        Defeat?! Never.

      • 169 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 2, 2014 at 20:01

It just sounded good, admit it. *knows the truth*

        Ever…

      • 170 Professor VJ Duke April 3, 2014 at 02:11

*laughing* You know me too well…

        Yes!

      • 171 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 3, 2014 at 02:31

        *laughs a lot*

      • 172 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2014 at 01:07

        *smiles big*

      • 173 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 4, 2014 at 01:59

*wonders why he is always smiling*

      • 174 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2014 at 02:11

Sometimes I can’t help it. I’ll frown for you.

      • 175 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 4, 2014 at 02:35

*wonders if he’s better looking smiling or frowning* Decides that most everyone is better looking when smiling, but more honest when they must allow a frown to show. *she has obviously been reflecting a lot today*

      • 176 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2014 at 13:22

Reflecting is so important, so all’s fine. I look best, when I give “the look”. Most disagree however. The analysts do.

      • 177 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 4, 2014 at 15:46

Me too!!! I call it my stink eye..it makes most men crumble and drool. *pats herself on the back because she admits she’s a feisty mess today*

      • 178 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2014 at 18:58

Well, I like the sound of that. Sounds powerful.

      • 179 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 4, 2014 at 19:55

Thank you. *gives Duke the stink eye* Probably is…

      • 180 Professor VJ Duke April 7, 2014 at 12:57

Haha! *wondering what a stink eye is*

      • 181 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 7, 2014 at 15:38

        *Wishing I could show you*

      • 182 Professor VJ Duke April 8, 2014 at 01:22

        *wishing the same thing*

      • 183 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 8, 2014 at 02:14

Aww, *wonders if the powers would work*

      • 184 Professor VJ Duke April 8, 2014 at 22:46

        Oh, I bet so.

      • 185 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 9, 2014 at 03:01

*winks and wishes she had a red pillow*

      • 186 Professor VJ Duke April 9, 2014 at 18:33

        *give you a ka-bar*

      • 187 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 9, 2014 at 19:47

*turns her nose up and walks away*

      • 188 Professor VJ Duke April 10, 2014 at 01:15

*wonders what he did, since that’s the most prized possession in his armory*

      • 189 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 10, 2014 at 01:32

umm, well is it supposed to have this dent in it? *shows him*

      • 190 Professor VJ Duke April 10, 2014 at 01:34

        It’s a battle scar!

      • 191 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 10, 2014 at 03:12

        Impressive

      • 192 Professor VJ Duke April 10, 2014 at 19:38

        *smiles bigly big*

      • 193 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 10, 2014 at 20:32

*shakes her head and wonders about you*

      • 194 Professor VJ Duke April 11, 2014 at 17:51

        Yeah, I do sometimes too.

      • 195 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 11, 2014 at 21:28

        *smiles*

      • 196 Professor VJ Duke April 11, 2014 at 22:48

        *smiles too*

      • 197 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 12, 2014 at 00:54

*waves good-bye to another great conversation with Duke*

      • 198 Professor VJ Duke April 14, 2014 at 12:47

Such a sad way to put it.

      • 199 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 14, 2014 at 18:36

        I know…I can’t bare to see them go…

      • 200 Professor VJ Duke April 14, 2014 at 18:39

But there’ll be more, I think!

      • 201 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 14, 2014 at 19:24

        *kicks the ground* Yea.

      • 202 Professor VJ Duke April 15, 2014 at 17:54

        Hahahaha.

  19. 203 Debbie March 25, 2014 at 13:49

I used to have fish, Professor, and that’s their typical expression. I think they “look” scared because they don’t blink, kind of that deer-in-headlights thing. But something tells me they didn’t particularly like being photographed — did you use a flash??

    • 204 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 13:51

I can’t remember exactly. I struggled to take it. But, seriously! I’m sure they’re just shocked and scared! I mean, aren’t they???

  20. 205 PigLove March 25, 2014 at 13:27

They is beautiful! It looks like a frame from a movie. So life like. XOXO – Bacon

    • 206 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 13:48

It is! Thank you. Do you think they’re scared of the professor?

      • 207 PigLove March 25, 2014 at 13:53

Nah – probably curious. You are in their world my friend. XOXO – Bacon

      • 208 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:35

That’s true…but…it’s not fair, is it?

      • 209 PigLove March 25, 2014 at 20:05

Probably not. I wonder if I was diving and they saw me – a mere little piggy – would they have ‘that’ look? Curious – snorts. XOXO – Bacon

      • 210 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:06

I bet they could. Why do you refer to yourself as Bacon? Doesn’t that mean you’re…dead?

      • 211 PigLove March 26, 2014 at 00:35

I’m um a pig? A miniature pot bellied pig with a blog :) XOXO – Bacon
        PS. I’m very much alive.

      • 212 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:08

Well, Bacon, the professor shall be coming to your blog very soon…

      • 213 PigLove March 26, 2014 at 18:10

Cool. Can’t wait to see you there :) XOXO – Bacon

      • 214 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:40

Yes! Coming like a speedy professor…

  21. 215 Simply Skeptical March 25, 2014 at 13:20

At first the school of fish were hard to see until I zoomed in as suggested. Actually, it wasn’t fear that I noted on their tiny little fish faces, but awe too. They actually appear to be in shock, amazed if you will at the sight of the professor. I was trying to see if their eye’s showed any reflection; but alas not even in the closest of zooms could one be detected. Beautiful waters. Did the professor have any luck locating a dangerous octopus? Nothing that a little TLC couldn’t cure you know. You just pet them right?

    • 216 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 13:48

Now the professor can’t comment on the amazed part. Perhaps they were watching me struggle with the camera at the time…maybe, I’m not sure. The octopuses? Oh no. You have to harpoon them or they’ll eat you! Would you try to pet them?

      • 217 Simply Skeptical March 25, 2014 at 16:25

They’re intelligent creatures. No, I must say I wouldn’t get near them, eeks. How does the professor manage to harpoon octopuses, hold fish in awe, and take pictures all while underwater? The professor is interestingly multi-talented indeed.

      • 218 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:48

Just a gardoobled dull sort of fellow, really.

  22. 219 PorterGirl March 25, 2014 at 13:06

Triumphant indeed! Gosh, they look scared. but they shouldn’t be scared of you, Professor – don’t they know you are nice really? Did you catch any octopuses?

    • 220 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 13:47

Aw, thanks, Lucy! But I’m quite mean and deadly to them! No, I missed out. Would you go?

      • 221 PorterGirl March 25, 2014 at 13:55

Of course. I like anything that sounds like and adventure!

      • 222 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:36

That’s the spirit! But there could be sharks!

      • 223 PorterGirl March 25, 2014 at 21:54

Oh, I am a shark charmer, didn’t you know? I sing them a little song and they do my bidding. We could ride them!

      • 224 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 00:15

I did not! How cool. Lucy! We should catch Jaws then, and show Head Porter!

      • 225 PorterGirl March 26, 2014 at 10:21

Yes! We should do that! HP would love it :)

      • 226 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:19

        He might be scarred too!

      • 227 PorterGirl March 26, 2014 at 18:29

        Haha! Even better :)

      • 228 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:41

        Awesome!

  23. 229 E. March 25, 2014 at 12:45

I wonder what an octopus’ hug feels like.
    Tentacle-y, I’d wager.

    • 230 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 13:47

Hug? It’s the hug of death, don’t you think? They’d try to rip you apart!

      • 231 E. March 25, 2014 at 13:50

Yes but they have so many arms I can’t help but wonder if it would be a comforting hug of death…

Actually, on second thought, being embraced by eight suction-cupped wriggly tentacles sounds like the opposite of comforting. But I still think octopi are the bosses of the sea!

      • 232 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 13:52

*laughing lots* E! The suckers would probably pinch–a lot! And the beak…what about that?

        Over the professor?

      • 233 E. March 25, 2014 at 14:02

Obviously! I’m not stupid, I just like to toy with possibilities! Besides, do *you* know what an octopus’s hug feels like? I’m going to guess “no” since you’re still, y’know, alive… (And if you do, and can prove it, I will hail you as most-knowledgable and stop questioning silly things.)

And yes. You’re simply a land-beast encroaching on the saltwater territory of the mighty octopus! Silly Professor — humans can’t even breathe under water without help! How would you be the boss of the sea over a monstrous, eight-tentacled, camouflaging, intelligent, beak-wielding beastie?

      • 234 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:40

Well…well…dadblameit, then! Isn’t there another way I can get to be most-knowlegable?

A land beast? The professor? How can this be? *laughs lots* Because I’ve got a katana and I can hold my breath for…2 minutes! How’s that?

      • 235 E. March 25, 2014 at 19:47

        Nope!

Haha and you’d be going against an eight-tentacled, underwater-breathing, camouflaging leviathan.

      • 236 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 14:06

        The professor wouldn’t stand a chance, E!

  24. 237 walt walker March 25, 2014 at 12:39

I would love to go on a dangerous octopus hunt. I’d also like to hunt dangerous octopuses. I envy your adventurous spirit.

    • 238 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 13:46

*smiles professorishly* You’re welcome to come along, Walt. But no screaming allowed, you understand. It scares the octopuses. Would you bring a dagger?

      • 239 walt walker March 25, 2014 at 15:45

If I can find one. I’m not as well armed as the professor. I do have a frying pan….

      • 240 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:48

Don’t worry, Walt, I’ll arm ya.

  25. 241 TheCrazyBagLady March 25, 2014 at 12:36

all I can see are their beady eyes just staring…..

    • 242 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 13:46

Yes! Do they look scared, would you say?

      • 243 TheCrazyBagLady March 25, 2014 at 13:52

yes they do and they also look like they are holding their breath!

      • 244 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2014 at 19:33

Yeah! Now that you say it, yeah! It can’t be healthy, can it?

      • 245 TheCrazyBagLady March 26, 2014 at 03:43

well I hope you moved away so that they start breathing again

      • 246 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:16

Yes, I did. And you know, the professor was having a hard time breathing too.

      • 247 TheCrazyBagLady March 26, 2014 at 18:26

that’s no good if everyone passes out!

      • 248 Professor VJ Duke March 26, 2014 at 18:41

Yes, truly! Do you dive at all?

      • 249 TheCrazyBagLady March 26, 2014 at 18:56

Yes I do. Not so much these days as seeing damaged corals upset me.

      • 250 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 13:53

        Corals are beautiful.

      • 251 TheCrazyBagLady March 27, 2014 at 16:32

They are so beautiful and so delicate. There are amazing dive sites in my country but lack of education, tourism and greed has damaged a lot of the reefs.

      • 252 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2014 at 23:26

That’s too bad. (In truth, the professor would probably be scared to dive.)

      • 253 TheCrazyBagLady March 28, 2014 at 02:17

I think the fish would prefer if you didn’t dive from the looks of it ;)

      • 254 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 18:29

Yes, but do you think they think about it?

      • 255 TheCrazyBagLady March 28, 2014 at 19:01

But of course, fish have feelings too

      • 256 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2014 at 22:24

I shouldn’t have bothered them! Oh well.
