Welcome to “Southern Comfort” Week!
During this themed week we shall follow Schwarz Tauptinker as he goes on vacation.
[Big thanks to Susan Price for helping out!]

Segment A
Punchy Proverbs

PP's
All proverbs are written by V. Shnodgrate unless noted otherwise.

1. It is said, “Two wrongs don’t make a right,” and I tell you that’s true. Nobody was trying to make a right in the first place.

2. Bees that have honey in their mouths have stings in their tails. —English Proverb

3. Every time I say this at a party, it causes a controversy. But it’s true. The war was fought over states’ rights, not slavery. —Mr. Ratherquite

Favorites, PF? The professor favors the second one. See how harsh a bee can be when all you want is honey?

Segment B
Severe Weather Report
weather

“There has been nothing but like 80 tornadoes at my house!” Schwarz Tauptinker reported. “Time for vacation!”

Segment C
Featured Story: Uncommon Storms
by J. Freedwoppen

I had the chance to sit down with Schwarz Tauptinker right before he left for vacation, and talk about all the odd storms he’s been having. ~ J. Freedwoppen

J.FREEDWOPPEN: So, Schwarz, tell me about all those tornadoes!

SCHWARZ TAUPTINKER: Well, it’s obvious that where I live must be the place for twisters. Chickit.

JF: And that’s a new development?

ST: I guess. I mean, I don’t remember too many before.

JF: So, you’re going on vacation in the hopes that when you come back everything will be normal again?

ST: Yeppy. I’m going down south. To Florida actually.

JF: Have a nice vacation.

ST: You too.

Segment D
MicP Studios—Behind the Scenes
by Nicholas Warren

Mic had a new machine. A new computer program… A new video program that ‘would make things easy and make the videos better,’ is the way he put it. He talked me into coming to watch it work.

The professor was smarter. He said he had things to do…which I don’t think he did. I guess he knew.

But I believed Mic.

It was a lie. A dreadful lie.

But like all good lies, it had a kernel of truth to it. That’s why it was so believable. It was a new program. It could do more.

And that was just the problem. It could do too much. Mic went crazy with all the possibilities, and I had to stay and help him. I didn’t want to be rude.

By the time the video was done, it was evening. Sure, we had a great video. But nothing I had wanted to do was done.

And I was way too tired to do anything else.

~~~
Segment E
A Conversation
THE VEEZLER: Have a nice vacation. Hope your head hurts when you come back.
SCHWARZ TAUPTINKER: That was cruel.
THE VEEZLER: Oh, I can get worse. Would you like to see?
SCHWARZ TAUPTINKER: No, but I think you should go on vacation.
THE VEEZLER: I don’t want to!
SCHWARZ TAUPTINKER: Then go to my house and enjoy the storms.
    #3 is correct. It is a shame that we humans can even confront our own selfishness or horrors without misdirecting.
    • 2 Professor VJ Duke May 21, 2014 at 12:36
      Very, very good point, Bard. I like that lots, for sure.
      • 3 bardictale May 21, 2014 at 19:51
        Thank you, sir^^
  2. 4 Me, Myself and DIY May 14, 2014 at 10:36
    I’m late to this one but I must say – I like #2 with the Southern theme. Bees, honey and stingers – all true, all true!
    • 5 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:18
      Yes! I love bees, I think.
      • 6 Me, Myself and DIY May 15, 2014 at 12:39
        You think?
      • 7 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 14:49
        Well, they do sting, I guess.
  3. 8 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 18:28
    Reblogged this on The Curious Introvert and commented:
    The Professor who blogs in The Punchy Lands included me in some of the dadblamerie that goes on around there throughout this week. I feel honored to be a small part of the fun. Come along and get in touch with your inner Punchy.
    • 9 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:10
      Aw, thanks so much, Susan! I’m truly honored. (And thanks for helping out!)
      • 10 Susan P May 14, 2014 at 13:20
        The pleasure was all mine. Poor Schwarz. He hadn’t a chance.
      • 11 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:23
        He’s no warrior!
      • 12 Susan P May 14, 2014 at 13:35
        He isn’t? At least he tried something new. He may never do so again, but hey…he tried.
      • 13 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:29
        The tornadoes made him do it.
      • 14 Susan P May 15, 2014 at 12:48
        Yes, well…I’m sure it’s twisted enough where he comes from.
      • 15 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 14:51
        Haha. I agree.
      • 16 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:14
        Grin
  4. 17 Bethy May 13, 2014 at 14:23
    I do like the first proverb and the last. They were interesting. *smile*
    I think that Schwarz might be getting more then he bargained for vacationing in Florida.
    • 18 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:07
      Unless, he goes to Disney World. I should visit Universal Studios.
      • 19 Bethy May 14, 2014 at 15:34
        OOOO! I LOVE Universal Studios. I went one time. In December and it was perfect weather and I had the grandest time with my hubby.
      • 20 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:34
        Did you get on the Mummy Ride?
      • 21 Bethy May 19, 2014 at 14:15
        I did! Something like 3 times! *big grin*
      • 22 Professor VJ Duke May 19, 2014 at 14:57
        Wow! I’d love that one, I think.
  5. 23 erinkenobi2893 May 13, 2014 at 14:10
    I like number one :-)
    • 24 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:06
      It gives the professor shivers! I’ve always wanted to see one like that.
      • 25 erinkenobi2893 May 15, 2014 at 14:55
        Making up this sort of thing is fun. ;-P
      • 26 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:11
        What sort of thing?
      • 27 erinkenobi2893 May 16, 2014 at 17:08
        Maxims… I think.
      • 28 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 23:07
        I love maxims.
      • 29 erinkenobi2893 May 19, 2014 at 12:28
        Yeah! Aren’t they great?! :-D
      • 30 Professor VJ Duke May 19, 2014 at 14:53
        They are!
      • 31 erinkenobi2893 May 19, 2014 at 16:16
        They’re also great fun to make up. :-D
  6. 32 walt walker May 13, 2014 at 13:27
    How many do you already have? After a certain number, gloves won’t fit.
    • 33 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 12:57
      I have one, I think.
      • 34 walt walker May 16, 2014 at 22:10
        How did this comment get all the way up here? What have you done, P.VJ? No more chicken fingers for you! You’ve had too many. Are you sneaking them?
      • 35 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 23:15
        I admit, I have been! But only a dozen!
  7. 36 John W. Howell May 12, 2014 at 22:27
    Favorite proverb. “Do unto others before they do you under.” Schwarz by rights should come back to nothing after vacation unless the tornado’s followed him to Florida. I still think Amelia has a thing for the professor.
    • 37 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:14
      Now what an interest. Couldn’t this proverb, John, lead you into some vexing situations?
      *laughing* True about Schwarz! I think you might like him a bit, bits, and little bits.
      Whatever why, John?
  8. 38 The Dancing Rider May 12, 2014 at 22:03
    Would have to go with Proverb 2. The third one is just too vexing, which figures, given it’s Mr. Ratherquite. And the first is a tried and true but I don’t care. #2 is funny though. AND true.
    I love the interview with Schwarz and why he needs a vacation. I would, too! But even better? Schwarz’s response to the Veezler! YAY, loved it!
    Nichloas, you should have known! ;-) Argh. More is not always better, and plus this experience made you tired. :( I think the professor saw what was coming!
    • 39 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member May 12, 2014 at 22:32
      I absolutely should have known. But…I played fool this time. I was sucked in by the possibilities.
      • 40 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:15
        Don’t you usually?
      • 41 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member May 12, 2014 at 23:39
        Uh…you are talking to me, right, VJ?
      • 42 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:40
        Yes, I am, beautiful.
      • 43 The Dancing Rider May 13, 2014 at 13:10
        Must admit, I would have been, too. And I should also know better! ;-)
      • 44 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 12:55
        The professor is feeling rather smart–and it’s a novel feeling, I think.
      • 45 The Dancing Rider May 14, 2014 at 19:48
        Smirking. Of course you are, and with good reason!
      • 46 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:40
        *bows*
    • 47 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:13
      *laughing* I think you secretly like Mr. R!
      Haha! He was rather spicy with the Veezler, but he deserved it! Schwarz can be spicy at times, you know.
      I did! Nick isn’t the brightest, you know.
      • 48 The Dancing Rider May 13, 2014 at 13:11
        Well, professor, you certainly knew what was coming!
        I feel sympathy for Mr. R! Yet I also want to slap him a good one!
      • 49 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 12:56
        And, DR, he’d benefit highly from a slap, I agree.
  9. 50 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister May 12, 2014 at 19:17
    Proverb #1 wins. #2 …whether or not the bee chooses to use the stinger is what one should be focusing on. #3 Yes. Mr. R and I should sit next to one another at these said parties.
    Weather…my hometown was hit by a tornado last night. My brother, the fire chief has quite a mess. :( I feel for ST. I hope he has fun in Florida. My best friend lives in FL.
    I would have spent the day with Nick and Mic. What’s wrong with you, Duke. Sounds like a great day full of learning all about a new toy. I’m looking forward to the video.
    • 51 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:07
      I use my stinger all the time, you know. Sam Houston might like #3 too.
      No! Are you okay? I think I live in a rainforest, you know.
      Oh, I don’t think I’d want to be with Mic when’s he got a new toy. Wouldn’t you rather listen to “I just Wanna Stop?”
      • 52 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister May 13, 2014 at 02:33
        Do you really, Duke. Hmmm. Interesting. Yes, I agree, I think Sam Houston might be quite happy with that proverb. He was a good man mostly, I think.
        I’m fine. It was a tornado in Nebraska. Everyone is okay. A rainforest…tis raining a lot, huh?
        Why does he get cranky? Should I want to listen to “I Just Wanna Stop?” That is a good song…(I already have a song on repeat in my head for the last 48 hours…)
      • 53 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:55
        I think so. It’s hard to run with one, you know. I like Houston lots.
        It is, yes! Make it stop, Audith!
        I’m not sure why. What song?
      • 54 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister May 13, 2014 at 13:39
        *laughs* I can’t imagine and will take your word for it. You should figure out how to fix that so you don’t sting yourself.
        It’s raining here today, too. I’m soaked! I don’t like it one bit.
        You should find out… John Legend’s You and I
      • 55 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 12:58
        A wasp can’t sting hiself!
        It’s a bummer, for sure.
        Never heard of it…
      • 56 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister May 14, 2014 at 19:44
        I thought you were a bee….wasps don’t like honey.
        What will you do now?
        Well, after your suggestions lately, I’m not surprised, Duke.
      • 57 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:37
        Oh…but then again, bees are n’t warriors.
        I can’t say!
        Oh dear. I’ve been being rotten?
      • 58 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister May 15, 2014 at 13:40
        How silly of me to forget.
        I see.
        You’re fine
      • 59 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:00
        Not mentally fine, though. I’m shot, you know. It’s the professorish disease.
      • 60 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister May 16, 2014 at 19:10
        Have you been busy? Is that why you are shot? Are you not feeling well? Look at these questions…! Good grief!
      • 61 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 23:10
        No, I’m just becoming more and more professorish, I fear. Don’t you think so?
      • 62 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister May 16, 2014 at 23:40
        I wish I could help. Yes, I do think so, actually.
      • 63 Professor VJ Duke May 17, 2014 at 19:36
        Isn’t it good?
      • 64 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister May 17, 2014 at 21:22
        When I learn about you, Duke, it is always good professorishes. *smiles*
      • 65 Professor VJ Duke May 17, 2014 at 21:46
        Thanks, Audith. *smile*
  10. 66 Jackie May 12, 2014 at 17:06
    Proverb #2 is my fav this week! Weather is unpredictable so the only thing I’m sure of is it will change. It’s a lot like life, yahknowwhadimean?
    • 67 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 18:01
      I’ve heard it said that women are as changeable as the weather. Do you think that is true? :D
      • 68 Jackie May 12, 2014 at 18:02
        I think it depends on the woman.
      • 69 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 18:14
        Well, a little change is good.
      • 70 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:03
        Wouldn’t you ladies say the professor is ever changing?
    • 71 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 22:59
      I do! Jackie, we should declare war on the weather! *laughs* Getting lots of rain here.
  11. 72 krugthethinker May 12, 2014 at 16:44
    I love the background and special weekly features! Also, I hope Schwarz doesn’t encounter any hurricanes in Florida…that would really be some tomfoolery, wouldn’t it?
    • 73 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:46
      Hi, Krug!
      Thanks much! Yes, that would be horrible. I think Schwarz would get very cranky, then. Tomfoolery is an awesome word, you know.
    • 74 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 18:04
      Well, hurricane season begins on June first. But I hear tell that there was once one in December. The bugs, though, the bugs we have with us always. They are a lot worse than hurricanes. Unless there is an actual hurricane.
      • 75 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:04
        Every time I’ve been to Florida, the professor hasn’t noticed the bugs too much. Except that one time. I think “love bugs” were everywhere.
      • 76 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 00:59
        Ah, yes. They are in season now. May and September. Miserable on the windshield on the car.
      • 77 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:50
        Do you crush them mercilessly–like the professor did?
      • 78 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 18:58
        No. I just brush them out of my face and keep on going. Dadblamerie is what it is.
      • 79 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:14
        I think so. What a horrid thing.
      • 80 Susan P May 14, 2014 at 13:28
        Well, on their good side they don’t sting or bite. You just want to keep your mouth closed when they are about.
      • 81 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:26
        I bet they’re high in protein.
      • 82 Susan P May 15, 2014 at 12:43
        I dunno about that. Rats and a heifer, Professor! Ick. I’ll stick with my snails.
      • 83 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 13:06
        And they’re slimy.
      • 84 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 13:33
        Not after they are cooked, they aren’t.
      • 85 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:22
        Of course! I’ve eaten thousands–in my warrior days in Rome.
      • 86 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:27
        I think your shield has fallen on your head.
      • 87 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:35
        It does that frequently.
      • 88 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:44
        Well, dadblameit, get the thing fixed.
      • 89 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 22:53
        I think I should sell it for a tank.
      • 90 Susan P May 17, 2014 at 13:41
        It has wheels?
      • 91 Professor VJ Duke May 17, 2014 at 21:38
        No. But a tank is the new armor.
      • 92 Susan P May 18, 2014 at 21:03
        A tank is just a bigger shield.
  12. 93 Debbie May 12, 2014 at 15:33
    Ah, Professor, as someone raised by Southerners, I KNOW Proverb #3 is correct. Try growing up with that philosophy, then going to school and learning not everyone believes it!
    Eighty tornadoes? Poor Schwarz. No wonder he wants and needs a vacation!
    • 94 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:45
      Right on! It’s a wonder, for sure. Now you like Mr. R, right?
      I think he should move–permanently!
  13. 95 FictionFan May 12, 2014 at 15:31
    Another fine instalment, Prof! Tell Schwarzy not to forget the sunscreen…
    • 96 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:45
      Thanks, FEF! I don’t think Schwarz took anything. Not one suitcase. We should all learn from his fine example.
    • 97 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 18:12
      He’ll be okay if he doesn’t stay outside after ten a.m. or before five p.m
      • 98 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:06
        Sounds like a moon tan.
      • 99 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 01:04
        Florida sun is wicked bad. I doesn’t like to wear sun screen, and those hours gave me a reasonably good tan last week.
      • 100 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:52
        Did you use an umbrella?
      • 101 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 19:00
        Nope. Well, not to keep the sun off of me I didn’t. I chased someone down the street with one once and tried to use it to fly, but it didn’t work.
      • 102 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:15
        Now the chasing part is pure gloriousness.
      • 103 Susan P May 14, 2014 at 13:31
        Umbrellas are wonderful weapons.
      • 104 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:27
        Especially sword umbrellas!
      • 105 Susan P May 15, 2014 at 12:45
        Ta-DAAAAAAAAAAAA
      • 106 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 14:50
        Yes, yes. I should get one. But heroes don’t use them.
      • 107 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:10
        Okay………
      • 108 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:25
        So it’s a raunchy position to be in.
      • 109 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:32
        Ummm–raunchy?
      • 110 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:37
        Yes! Maybe I’ve redefined the word.
      • 111 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:52
        I can only hope. *wink*
      • 112 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 22:57
        Oh dear. It means something horrid?
      • 113 Susan P May 17, 2014 at 13:52
        Maybe…
  14. 114 Simply Skeptical May 12, 2014 at 15:26
    I like #1 since it is true. Whoever said a ‘right’ was being sought anyway – ha, ha, ha. Poor Nick. Don’t let Mic take adantage of you unless of course its for the common good of the PL.
    Funny to think those tornados might just follow ST wherever he goes. :-)
    • 115 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:44
      Oh I’m sure the PL itself doesn’t care one way or another. Or the other. However that’s supposed to be said.
      *laughing* Wouldn’t that be great?
    • 116 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 18:11
      Oh, I hope the weather doesn’t follow Schwarz. I live in Florida.
      • 117 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:05
        Wouldn’t you share your muffins with him?
      • 118 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 01:03
        Depends. I get all of the blueberry muffins and he can have the rest.
      • 119 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:51
        And I get all the cherry ones, I hope.
      • 120 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 18:59
        Chocolate covered ones.
      • 121 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:14
        Yes!
      • 122 Susan P May 14, 2014 at 13:29
        Packed in with the molasses cookies.
      • 123 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:27
        Well, I think that would be doubly good.
      • 124 Susan P May 15, 2014 at 12:45
        Well, when fall comes and I feel like baking again, remind me and we’ll see what we’ll see. :D
      • 125 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 13:46
        Okay!
      • 126 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 13:52
        I’m pretty sure some molasses cookies will materialize.
      • 127 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:24
        Around here?
      • 128 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:31
        I can’t say. It’s hard to deliver real cookies to a virtual destination. But somewhere. I promise.
      • 129 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:36
        *bows like Darby*
      • 130 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:50
        Did you just take off your hat? woohoo
      • 131 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 22:56
        Did you know Darby jumps in lakes?
      • 132 Susan P May 17, 2014 at 13:48
        He doesn’t want to do that in Florida.
      • 133 Professor VJ Duke May 17, 2014 at 21:39
        Oh yes he does! We’ll make him, just so he vanishes.
      • 134 Susan P May 18, 2014 at 21:05
        You want to banish Darby? Why, Professor – what did Darby do?
      • 135 Professor VJ Duke May 19, 2014 at 14:49
        I’m not sure. He’s too much liked.
      • 136 Susan P May 19, 2014 at 16:21
        Do I detect the green eyes of envy? ;)
      • 137 Professor VJ Duke May 20, 2014 at 00:04
        No, I could beat him in a fight!
      • 138 Susan P May 20, 2014 at 19:35
        A real fight, or a virtual one?
      • 139 Professor VJ Duke May 21, 2014 at 12:43
        A real one, dadblameit…
      • 140 Susan P May 21, 2014 at 13:43
        Well, would Darcy be better?
      • 141 Professor VJ Duke May 21, 2014 at 19:30
        How do you mean better? *vicious warrior face*
      • 142 Susan P May 22, 2014 at 11:37
        Better than Darby.
      • 143 Professor VJ Duke May 22, 2014 at 15:53
        Of course the professor is better than Darby!
      • 144 Susan P May 22, 2014 at 17:50
        What about the Cookie Monster?
      • 145 Professor VJ Duke May 23, 2014 at 14:45
        No! He’s better than me, for sure.
      • 146 Susan P May 23, 2014 at 15:07
        I don’t trust the Cookie Monster. He’s sneaky.
      • 147 Professor VJ Duke May 25, 2014 at 17:10
        He’s nice looking, though.
      • 148 Susan P May 25, 2014 at 19:12
        You’re just hoping for some of those cookies. :D
      • 149 Professor VJ Duke May 26, 2014 at 12:54
        I do hope he’s the sharing type.
      • 150 Susan P May 26, 2014 at 14:34
        I never thought he was, but who knows?
      • 151 Professor VJ Duke May 26, 2014 at 19:37
        I’ll just take them in that case.
      • 152 Susan P May 27, 2014 at 10:38
        I can see it now in next week’s PL Times: “Professor Steals Cookies From the Cookie Monster.”
      • 153 Professor VJ Duke May 27, 2014 at 12:53
        Oh rats and a heifer! Can you imagine what that would do…to my legacy?
      • 154 Susan P May 27, 2014 at 14:18
        Wait. Are you telling me no one else knows?
      • 155 Professor VJ Duke May 27, 2014 at 15:59
        Of course not! Only you.
      • 156 Susan P May 27, 2014 at 16:12
        I am honored. Is there no way to get around it?
      • 157 Professor VJ Duke May 27, 2014 at 16:14
        Shouldn’t we forget about it?
      • 158 Susan P May 27, 2014 at 16:19
        Forget about what?
      • 159 Professor VJ Duke May 27, 2014 at 20:48
        Me maybe stealing cookies and besmirching my public image?
      • 160 Susan P May 28, 2014 at 11:26
        Besmirching? What’s it worth to you?
      • 161 Professor VJ Duke May 28, 2014 at 12:06
        My image? I don’t know. What should it be worth?
      • 162 Susan P May 28, 2014 at 16:16
        Only you can know that.
      • 163 Professor VJ Duke May 28, 2014 at 18:35
        And Susan would know.
      • 164 Susan P May 28, 2014 at 18:59
        Well…
      • 165 Professor VJ Duke May 29, 2014 at 12:40
        Welly well…
      • 166 Susan P May 29, 2014 at 13:56
        Wellies are boots.
      • 167 Professor VJ Duke May 29, 2014 at 17:45
        You don’t say…are you on the level?
      • 168 Susan P May 30, 2014 at 12:57
        Absolutely. Nickname for Wellington.
      • 169 Professor VJ Duke May 30, 2014 at 13:08
        The professor should be called Wellington.
      • 170 Susan P May 30, 2014 at 14:57
        How many heroes’ names do you need?
      • 171 Professor VJ Duke May 30, 2014 at 23:51
        4?
      • 172 Susan P May 31, 2014 at 18:41
        You sound uncertain…
      • 173 Professor VJ Duke June 2, 2014 at 12:05
        I am.
      • 174 Susan P June 2, 2014 at 16:00
        Are you certain about that?
      • 175 Professor VJ Duke June 2, 2014 at 16:02
        No…
      • 176 Susan P June 2, 2014 at 16:08
        Go on with you. Of course you are. The Professor knows all.
      • 177 Professor VJ Duke June 3, 2014 at 12:21
        Knows all about nothing, you mean.
      • 178 Susan P June 3, 2014 at 17:13
        I will not allow you to verbally abuse yourself. Take it back or else.
      • 179 Professor VJ Duke June 3, 2014 at 18:44
        Goodness! Do I get the squinty eye look?
      • 180 Susan P June 3, 2014 at 19:41
        Worse. Now get on it and take it back.
      • 181 Professor VJ Duke June 4, 2014 at 12:45
        Oh dear. I take it back!
      • 182 Susan P June 4, 2014 at 21:20
        *smiling* That’s better.
      • 183 Professor VJ Duke June 5, 2014 at 14:13
        *grumbles about what you made him do*
      • 184 Susan P June 5, 2014 at 15:45
        Go to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.
      • 185 Professor VJ Duke June 5, 2014 at 19:38
        Monopoly! I should collect $500.
      • 186 Susan P June 5, 2014 at 22:03
        Try and get it.
      • 187 Professor VJ Duke June 6, 2014 at 13:43
        I’ve tried, and been kicked out of the game.
      • 188 Susan P June 10, 2014 at 00:33
        Pick yourself up and try over. ;)
      • 189 Professor VJ Duke June 10, 2014 at 13:38
        Pick yourself up and start all over again! I love that song.
      • 190 Susan P June 10, 2014 at 21:02
        That’s a good song…just don’t let that song that doesn’t ever end.
      • 191 Professor VJ Duke June 11, 2014 at 13:02
        Which is that?
      • 192 Susan P June 11, 2014 at 13:14
      • 193 Professor VJ Duke June 11, 2014 at 21:07
        *laughing* I’m trying to vanquish it now!
      • 194 Susan P June 12, 2014 at 00:20
        I know, right? You’d be within your rights to shoot me.
      • 195 Professor VJ Duke June 12, 2014 at 13:56
        Hahaha. I wouldn’t do that!
      • 196 Susan P June 12, 2014 at 17:59
        Rats. Not even with a super soaker?
      • 197 Professor VJ Duke June 12, 2014 at 22:41
        Well, you wouldn’t like it, would you?
      • 198 Susan P June 13, 2014 at 01:44
        Are you kidding? It was 90 degrees in the shade yesterday. You’d probably have a flash mob begging you to soak them.
      • 199 Susan P June 13, 2014 at 01:45
        Ack. You mistook me for a prim miss. Oh the SHAME of it all.
      • 200 Professor VJ Duke June 13, 2014 at 16:56
        *laughing lots* Okay, I’ll do it, then! And some water balloons too!!!
      • 201 Susan P June 13, 2014 at 18:06
        That’s better. Wait till you see what comes back.
      • 202 Professor VJ Duke June 15, 2014 at 18:18
        *gulp* Oh no! That would be cheating.
      • 203 Susan P June 15, 2014 at 23:59
        Courage, Professor, courage. You must keep a lip upper stiff.
      • 204 Professor VJ Duke June 16, 2014 at 16:43
        I will not!
      • 205 Susan P June 16, 2014 at 19:07
        Okay. It’s your head.
      • 206 Professor VJ Duke June 16, 2014 at 22:45
        My head is fine!
      • 207 Susan P June 16, 2014 at 23:44
        I just told you that you are a genius.
      • 208 Professor VJ Duke June 17, 2014 at 12:49
        I’m insane, I think.
      • 209 Susan P June 20, 2014 at 20:06
        Most geniuses are or almost are.
      • 210 Professor VJ Duke June 21, 2014 at 16:15
        Except professors. They’re not genius but they’re insane.
      • 211 Susan P June 21, 2014 at 17:01
        Is Nick a genius?
      • 212 Professor VJ Duke June 22, 2014 at 19:08
        Oh, definitely not. Don’t tell him I said that!
      • 213 Susan P June 22, 2014 at 19:33
        What can I tell him you said, then?
      • 214 Professor VJ Duke June 23, 2014 at 13:28
        Tell him he’s a frump.
      • 215 Susan P June 23, 2014 at 15:18
        He is not either a frump.
      • 216 Professor VJ Duke June 24, 2014 at 00:11
        Oh yes he is!
      • 217 Susan P June 24, 2014 at 01:09
        Nuh – uh.
      • 218 Professor VJ Duke June 24, 2014 at 13:46
        Yes!
      • 219 Susan P June 24, 2014 at 14:17
        Ix-nay.
      • 220 Professor VJ Duke June 25, 2014 at 11:55
        *maybe stumped*
      • 221 Susan P June 25, 2014 at 12:14
        Maybe…
  15. 222 Julie Harris May 12, 2014 at 13:44
    Love your proverbs for the day! The first one is profound… looking forward to vacation updates from Schwartz!
    • 223 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:44
      Awesome! You know, I always hated that first saying, didn’t you?
      • 224 Julie Harris May 13, 2014 at 00:46
        Why is that?
      • 225 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:41
        I think because I like to say wicked things!
    • 226 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 18:11
      I hope you don’t hope for a lot of verbal feedback. His vocabulary is somewhat limited.
      • 227 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:05
        *laughing lots* Susan! That’s cruel!
      • 228 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 01:02
        Perhaps I should have said that he is a man of few words? I certainly was not intending to cast aspersions on his speech. He is very clear about what he wants.
      • 229 Julie Harris May 13, 2014 at 00:50
        lol….
      • 230 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 01:07
        *grin*
      • 231 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:41
        *laughing*
  16. 232 L. Marie May 12, 2014 at 13:24
    I also prefer number 2. And I think following Schwarz on vacation is a lovely idea!
    Does Mr. Ratherquite love to court controversy? I’m getting the impression that he does.
    • 233 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:43
      Many thanks! I’m sure it will be quite interesting.
      I think so. Surprising he hasn’t got hit in the nose, huh?
      • 234 L. Marie May 13, 2014 at 12:26
        Ooo. I hope there’s a story there. “Mr. Ratherquite Gets Decked.” I wonder what the ladies would do if that happened?
      • 235 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 13:02
        I think they scurry about and cry. I’ll put something like this in the line-up if you’d like!
  17. 236 Amy Pinkrose May 12, 2014 at 13:18
    I like Proverb number 1, Professor. As for #2, I got squirmy because LadyP is sweet like honey, but I don’t think she stings. I hope not anyway.
    LadyP needs a vacation too. Many twisters here at her home too. Gee, what is up with the weather?
    As for more is better. Not true. More only gives you more headaches and more to worry about.
    I believe LadyP is finished with all she wants to say today. Good day, Professor! xx LadyP
    • 237 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:43
      But bees sting. What do you make of that?
      Oh dear! Twisters must be horrid. You should have went with Schwarz. Why didn’t you?
      I think I agree with that!
      Good day, LadyP! *maybe bows*
      • 238 Amy Pinkrose May 12, 2014 at 18:07
        How do you know I did not go with Schwartz? And as for bees, one gets more results with honey versus a sting. *smiles hugely*
      • 239 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:04
        He told me! I sting, you know.
      • 240 Amy Pinkrose May 13, 2014 at 00:01
        You do not! BAH!
      • 241 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:40
        I do! Do you think the professor is a wasp or hornet?
      • 242 Amy Pinkrose May 13, 2014 at 14:53
        Neither. The Professor is a Professor. Plain and simple.
      • 243 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:08
        *nods in agreement*
      • 244 Amy Pinkrose May 14, 2014 at 14:25
        So why the fuss over a bee and a hornet? *mumbles fdfljsofueoilkfflkljsofjklfjs*
      • 245 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:33
        Dear me…
      • 246 Amy Pinkrose May 15, 2014 at 14:36
        Sure glad to get that off my chest! *sighs*
      • 247 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:09
        You should have removed it earlier.
      • 248 Amy Pinkrose May 16, 2014 at 16:27
        Yah, I know. Don’t I though.
      • 249 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 23:04
        Spit-tooey!
      • 250 Amy Pinkrose May 16, 2014 at 23:07
        *YIKES*
    • 251 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 18:09
      We have twisters right along with the hurricanes, usually. In 2004 one of them picked up a big tree and took it up by the roots. Life is dangerous, Amy.
      • 252 Amy Pinkrose May 12, 2014 at 18:27
        I agree, Susan. Good thing we have Protection. I do. I know. There were twisters all over my house INSIDE mind you last week, and not a hair on my head was disturbed.
      • 253 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 19:51
        I hear you. We have had a few of those. No, heck, with an Asperger Husband (ASH) you can count on turmoil just saying good morning some days.
      • 254 Amy Pinkrose May 12, 2014 at 19:55
        Oh, Honey, my Heart goes out to you. I don’t know from one minute to the next how things will be. Up and down, in and out, … and if I became embroiled in all that, I would be NUTS. Perhaps I already am, and I just don’t know it. Every morning, I say, “What is it going to be today?” One problem after another. It just doesn’t stop. God bless you, Susan. I walk you shoes. (((HUGS))) Amy
      • 255 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 20:01
        I am thankful for a friend who truly understands. XOXO Love you! Amy!
      • 256 Amy Pinkrose May 12, 2014 at 20:02
        I understand because I am you, Susan. And I know the toll it takes NOT to get pulled into the insanity. Thank you for the reblog. Bless you!!! (((HUGS))) Amy
        PS When things get settled here, we will talk. OK? xx
      • 257 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 00:43
        Roger Wilco over and out! Absolutely, my dear friend.
      • 258 Amy Pinkrose May 13, 2014 at 01:07
        I am beginningn to wonder if hubs as this Asberger syndrome and got misdiagnosed with PTSD. I’ve always said there is more to this then PTSD and docs just aren’t seeing it. Hmmmm……But what difference would it make anyway! He’s not about to morph into someone different. Know that I carry you in my Heart, dearest friend. To even think you live as I do brings tears to my eyes. God bless you! Love, Amy
      • 259 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 01:14
        It’s possible. Of course I’ve been doing research. I needed to know for sanity’s sake. My husband has developed coping skills down through the years that he can use. Not indefinitely – it takes a toll – but he can get by pretty well in social situations as long as he can find people who are interested in finances (he’s an accountant) or sports – especially baseball. The other thing is that his parents knew he would at some point need to know how to cope whether he had a condition or not and insisted that he learn social skills by rote even though he did not understand them.
        Oh, Susan, we just flew in the future. The date and time of your comment in May 13th at 1:14am. Interesting. Hmmmmmmm….. Verrry interesting. I vonda what it means? And about those coping skills … hubs basically zero. Really. He needs to be in a bubble away from the world with no one but himself. Then he could cope. Sad.
      • 261 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 18:52
        That was the Punchy Lands zone.
        Your hubby has different issues, I think. Our men who went to ‘Nam and survived only to come back and be vilified – yeah.
      • 262 Amy Pinkrose May 13, 2014 at 19:43
        I’m still a day ahead on all my comments. Too funny. PL has overtaken Petals. *OH MY!*
        I have a post coming about war, Susie. The words came and I wrote and now I have to find the perfect photos. It is one of my more involved posts. Lots of photos. xx
      • 263 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 19:58
        It doesn’t surprise me. That Professorish person is quite clever.
        I will be looking for that post about war. I know what it has done to my brother. It will be interesting to see how you present it.
        I love that you called me Susie. My grandfather Phillips, my mother’s father and my eldest brother are the only two people who have ever called me Susie. My second daughter is Sarah Susanna and I call her Susie. We have a strong connection. I will not tolerate Sue (thank YOU Johnny Cash) but it isn’t me anyway. I have a friend who calls me Sooz. But you are one of three people who see the Susie in me. Some people find me intimidating. I don’t get that, either. Interesting….
      • 264 Amy Pinkrose May 13, 2014 at 20:20
        YOU intimidating? Are you serious? I guess you could say the same with me. Why? Just because of who I am. Anywho, I must go eat, stomach is rumbling and finish up feeding my cats. Hubs is broiling us alive today because he refuses to start the AC. Don’t ask. He does this every year. Oh tomorrow will be cooler because of rain. Well, today the sweat is pouring and I have cats who do not do well in heat. And yep, darn it, I am still smiling! Love you, Susie! Amy
      • 265 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:12
        And the PL zone is a great, botanical wonder. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.
      • 266 Susan P May 14, 2014 at 13:23
        That’s funny. I thought the PL is wrapping itself around your head.
      • 267 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:25
        Well, tis a possibility.
      • 268 Susan P May 14, 2014 at 13:38
        Most likely it is.
      • 269 Jazzy Couldren May 12, 2014 at 22:44
        How can you done be her? That doesn’t seem to possible to my manly mind… :} (by the way, every body is insane on this sight… :})
      • 270 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:15
        Even me?
      • 271 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 00:51
        Well, MM, that is exactly what drew me to the place. You aren’t, I suppose, forgetting that you are part of this site. Or site. Have it your way. :D
  18. 272 lindsaycummingswrites May 12, 2014 at 13:12
    I’ll be curious to see how this trip goes. We are thinking of going next month some time. It is snowing today in Colorado. We are at about 6 inches if you can believe that. Time for a trip!
    • 273 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:41
      No! Really? You’ve got snow! The professor would be so depressed, you know.
      • 274 lindsaycummingswrites May 13, 2014 at 13:45
        It is quite sad…and slushy.
      • 275 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:05
        It will melt, I assure you!
      • 276 lindsaycummingswrites May 14, 2014 at 16:42
        It is melting! Hooray, you saved the day! Supposed to be back up in the 80’s soon!
      • 277 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:35
        Awesome! Perfect news. Snow is just wrong this time of year.
      • 278 lindsaycummingswrites May 15, 2014 at 14:30
        TRUE!
      • 279 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:09
        You should Huff-Hum about it.
  19. 280 PorterGirl May 12, 2014 at 13:07
    Happy Monday Professor! I think I agree with you that the second proverb is the best, but I think Mr R might have a point, also.
    I can’t wait to hear about Schwarz’s vacation! He would be interesting to travel with, I should say. Veezler should have gone with him :)
    The new video things sounds very exciting. I hope Nick and Mic get the hang of it!
    • 281 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:40
      Happy Monday to you, Lucy! *smiles bigly* I think so too. Mr. R does have a point.
      *laughing* Could you imagine Schwarz and the Veezler together? I’d want to go just to see the dadblamery.
      I hope so too. They’re so bothersome, you know.
      • 282 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 18:06
        Oh yeah. Schwarzie is nothing if not headstrong.
      • 283 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:04
        I think you could be right, but I don’t know.
      • 284 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 01:00
        Maybe FF knows. She’s his buddy, right?
      • 285 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:51
        Do you think it goes a bit deeper?
      • 286 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 18:59
        Deeper than “buddy?”
      • 287 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 13:14
        Now that you bring it up, I wonder what Parker means saying ‘bud’ all the time.
      • 288 Susan P May 14, 2014 at 13:29
        You should check that out, Professor. I mean, he may come from another planet where it means something odd.
      • 289 Professor VJ Duke May 15, 2014 at 12:27
        You’re right. And he’s an odd sort of beast himself.
      • 290 Susan P May 15, 2014 at 12:44
        Isn’t everyone in the PL?
      • 291 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 13:07
        Yes, except the professor.
      • 292 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 13:34
        I think you meant, “especially the Professor.”
      • 293 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:23
        I’m always saying something wrong. Susan, now that you brought it up, what’s your opinion of Classical Gas?
      • 294 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:30
        I like it. It’s mellow. Should I add it onto my Monday lineup?
      • 295 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 15:36
        Sure! How about Tommy E’s version?
      • 296 Susan P May 16, 2014 at 15:49
        Oh, my. Now that is an artist! I love love love classical guitar. My youngest daughter had one of the congregation play Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring for her procession at her wedding.
        Any way you could mix some music in the PL? ‘Twould be an interest.
      • 297 Professor VJ Duke May 16, 2014 at 22:56
        Glad you love it! I love classical guitar too. Tommy’s the man, for sure. Really? That’s cool. Jesu is one of the hardest pieces in the guitar’s repertoire, because the original bass notes (that Bach had written in) were kept throughout the piece. Lots of stretching!
        Well, there’s Symph… The other might get a little too close…if you know what I mean!
      • 298 Susan P May 17, 2014 at 13:47
        Yes, really. He is a very talented young man – I think he was in ninth grade at the time. I like Bach, too. Yes, I know about Symph dadblameit.
      • 299 Professor VJ Duke May 17, 2014 at 21:39
        Sometimes I don’t know about him. At least, that’s what I think.
      • 300 Susan P May 18, 2014 at 21:04
        Well, I don’t know what to do about him, but he does a great job with the music.
      • 301 Professor VJ Duke May 19, 2014 at 14:49
        Very true.
      • 302 PorterGirl May 12, 2014 at 18:43
        Indeed I do!
        Schwarz and the Veezler make a great team! Can you imagine what they would get up to together? Maybe no-one can imagine that!
      • 303 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:06
        It would probably be dangerous! We’d have to go and stop them, you know.
      • 304 PorterGirl May 13, 2014 at 05:35
        Yes, let’s stop them. That will be great fun!
      • 305 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 13:01
        I’ll get you a katana.
      • 306 PorterGirl May 13, 2014 at 13:06
        :D Why, thank you!
      • 307 Professor VJ Duke May 14, 2014 at 12:54
  20. 308 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 12:49
    When was the last time Schwarz went on vacation? I hope he knows how to pack for Florida. He should come by and visit me.
    I had no idea that Mr. R. was so controversial. He expressed it well, though. I wonder what the ladies think?
    • 309 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 12:50
      So, Nick, What did you learn from that little interlude in your life?
      • 310 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member May 12, 2014 at 20:35
        Something I should have already known: New things are dangerous. Especially ones that can do more…
      • 311 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 00:47
        :D I hear you!
    • 312 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 13:02
      I’m not sure Schwarz packs at all, you know. What does one take on vacation? Let’s see…the professor would take his katana. And maybe a frog.
      You know, I’m sure the ladies just enjoy whatever Mr. R has to say. Though, they’ve been known to give him a hard time!
      • 313 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 13:04
        And Amelia?
      • 314 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 13:05
        What about her? *a few roars*
      • 315 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 13:09
        Rats and a heifer, Professor. Keep roaring like that and she’ll show up with a scythe.
      • 316 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 16:41
        Don’t you think she’s gone for good?
      • 317 Susan P May 12, 2014 at 17:24
        Probably not. The ones you don’t want are ever near. Chikit!
      • 318 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 23:02
        Rats and a Heifer! I’ll have FEF kill her, then. She offered, you know.
      • 319 Susan P May 13, 2014 at 00:58
        Maybe she would make Amelia read that book she reviewed today. No. That might give her ideas.
      • 320 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 12:48
        Do you think Amelia should be guillotined?
  21. 321 walt walker May 12, 2014 at 12:41
    Should I be more concerned about your finger or your mouse?
    • 322 Professor VJ Duke May 12, 2014 at 13:00
      My finger, for where could I buy another?
      • 323 walt walker May 13, 2014 at 05:38
        Well, if it is a chicken finger, then lots of places.
      • 324 Professor VJ Duke May 13, 2014 at 13:02
        I love those things. Any extra for me?
