Something Professorish Is Being Born

Well, it’s very true. In truth, it is.

This professor is redefining posts and such at the PL.

And it’s tough: You see, we want to cut the PL Reporter, but V. Shnodgrate wants his proverbs to be published. So, we must figure something out.

Here’s V. Shnodgrate’s proverb for today, “Let fear not define; let fear motivate.”

I think it’s rather spicy. Though I can’t quite understand what he’s trying to say.

So, yes, changes are on the way, I think. And they will occur–as soon as we figure out what to change and where to change it.

I should mention one thing.

This professor was having speaks with Schwarz Tauptinker the other day, and he said, “You know, don’t you think I should have some sort of say every week or so?”

It’s definitely worth thinking about, I think. (I think all the time, you know.)

Till I un-muddle my brain, that’s it!

    Cool picture!

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 13:42

      That’s me, you know.

  2. 3 Bethy August 13, 2014 at 10:20

Hopefully, it doesn’t take you as long to unmuddle your mind as it does me sometimes!
Oh and the spider is pretty, but I really don’t like spiders up close. Ugh.

    • 4 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:27

Oh boy! You know about the muddled mind then!

Well…I bet this one would eat the hornets!

      • 5 Bethy August 14, 2014 at 14:30

        I do, I do…

        The yellow jackets?
Well I have a deal with spiders. If they don’t come near me they don’t get dead.

      • 6 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 21:16

And I bet–for the most part–they keep the deal! Probably. I wouldn’t, if I was a spider. I’d like to terrorize.

      • 7 Bethy August 18, 2014 at 22:49

Some spiders terrorize and some don’t. I killed one last week. After I got a horrible spider bite last year that we had to treat with charcoal and keep wet for like 6 weeks I don’t mess around!

      • 8 Professor VJ Duke August 19, 2014 at 01:24

Seriously? Do you know what type of spider it was that bit you?

      • 9 Bethy August 19, 2014 at 09:47

My dr said she thought it was a brown recluse spider. It was a nasty sort of thing whatever it was–happened in the dark at night probably outside we think. Brown recluses aren’t supposed to be in FL…and it definitely wasn’t in the house because we washed EVERYTHING to try and find it. The bite was in the middle of my back so I never saw it and my darling hubby was in charge of plastering on the charcoal/baking soda twice a day.

      • 10 Professor VJ Duke August 19, 2014 at 12:02

Goodness! Glad you’re okay and all. Some brown recluse spider bites can be severe. Mean thing to bite you on the back!

      • 11 Bethy August 20, 2014 at 13:25

Thankfully I have a good husband keeping an eye out for me. I couldn’t see how scary it looked (probably a good thing though so I didn’t freak out), but I listened to him when he said I needed to go see the dr.

Yeah…bite me in the back in the dark! meany!

      • 12 Professor VJ Duke August 20, 2014 at 13:40

Yes, I’m sure he’d know about that. Imagine the whole thing! Wonderment.

        I hope you crushed him!

      • 13 Bethy August 21, 2014 at 15:09

I never saw him! That’s why its dadblamery!

      • 14 Professor VJ Duke August 22, 2014 at 13:15

Yes…it’s a wonder. Spiders bite and one doesn’t really know–usually–until later.

  3. 15 erinkenobi2893 August 12, 2014 at 23:43

Trust Schwarz to come up with the simplest solution! ;-)

    • 16 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:07

Does that make him brilliant, do you think?

      • 17 erinkenobi2893 August 13, 2014 at 19:34

        Probably. :-P

      • 18 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 19:52

        Oh, it does not, dadblameit!

      • 19 erinkenobi2893 August 13, 2014 at 19:59

He’s brilliant, but in his own way and on his own terms. And certainly not by anyone else’s. ;-)

      • 20 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 13:10

*nods* That’s the best way it can be put, you know.

      • 21 erinkenobi2893 August 14, 2014 at 15:46

        :-) Thanks!

      • 22 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 21:26

        Sure!

  4. 23 Nancy Loderick August 12, 2014 at 16:59

    Hey Professor,

I hope you get unmuddled soon! But you know that professors’ minds are filled with so many important thoughts, that it may take a while to get unmuddled.

    Nancy

    • 24 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 20:04

Hi Nancy! So true…I’m a hopeless case, then, huh?

      • 25 Nancy Loderick August 12, 2014 at 21:30

        Au contraire dear Professor,

This muddled mind is what makes you so special. ;)

        Nancy

      • 26 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:02

        Aw, thanks, Nancy! *bows*

  5. 27 Jackie (Lostinthot) August 12, 2014 at 16:00

That’s a very unique spider! Is he/she poisonous?

    • 28 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 20:02

I’m not sure! It’s a Peacock Spider, I think. Beautiful, for sure!

  6. 29 Catherine August 12, 2014 at 04:10

Lovely spider! And I like the new semi-ideas!

    • 30 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 12:55

Haha! Semi-ideas…that’s what they are! Isn’t the spider something? He tries to fly, I think.

      • 31 Catherine August 13, 2014 at 03:12

…does he just try? Because I’ve tried, it just didn’t exactly work! But I commend him for trying. He seems like a very nice spider.

      • 32 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:20

*laughing* You’ve tried? That’s awesome! You need to show me now.

      • 33 Catherine August 17, 2014 at 02:56

You just flap your arms. And jump. (it hasn’t really worked yet)

      • 34 Professor VJ Duke August 18, 2014 at 11:45

*laughing* I’ll have to try…but I might try from a box first.

      • 35 Catherine August 18, 2014 at 13:58

It’s always a good idea to avoid unnecessary accidents!

      • 36 Professor VJ Duke August 18, 2014 at 15:10

Yes, I say so! The professor is an accident.

      • 37 Catherine August 20, 2014 at 04:51

Oh, come now, I don’t think the professor is an accident! (Or, if somehow he is, he isn’t a bad one at least).

      • 38 Professor VJ Duke August 20, 2014 at 13:31

*laughs* Well…maybe I’m not then. It just seemed right to say. You know you do wonders for the professorish brain.

      • 39 Catherine August 22, 2014 at 15:54

Haha! Thank you, I do try. Anything to help the professor!

      • 40 Professor VJ Duke August 23, 2014 at 16:48

        *bows* I’m in your debt!

  7. 41 walt walker August 11, 2014 at 23:52

And that spider terrifies me, too. I do fear that spider.

    • 42 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:32

He’s just trying to fly. Surely you can’t hold that against him?

      • 43 walt walker August 13, 2014 at 00:43

I hold no thing against him. I only fear him. For his bright colors, you see. He looks like a wild clown, you see.

      • 44 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:08

Ohhhhh…I do see. But he hasn’t got a red nose, though.

  8. 45 walt walker August 11, 2014 at 23:51

Oh dear, PVJ, if there is one thing we all know to expect from the Professor & Co., it is change, and change is good and just fine, so long as it is just a temporary change until the next one comes along and a good one. So far, so good! As for me, I fear no thing. I swat fear away with a fearless swat of my hand like it’s just some annoying little thing that I don’t fear at all but find a bit bothersome. Fear annoys me, and so I mock it and belittle it and say nasty things to it. Unless it takes the form of a tornado. There’s nothing I can do against a tornado except scream and run away.

    • 46 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:32

Hahaha! *laughs* Oh, Walt…yes, I agree about tornadoes. But one must say, that you should treat all fear (even tornado-fear) the same way. Swat it away! Metaphorically speaking, of course. Though, I’d probably run with you, you know.

Change is good! What do you think of the AurToons?

      • 47 walt walker August 13, 2014 at 00:46

Why? Are you thinking of changing them?

      • 48 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:08

I might be! I’m not sure what I”m up to anymore.

      • 49 walt walker August 13, 2014 at 14:53

I think these are your favorite part of it all. Am I rightio?

      • 50 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 19:33

Yes, I love them. But they take a lot of time. Ripios are fun too, you know.

      • 51 walt walker August 13, 2014 at 20:51

Yes, well you have lots of fans who will enjoy whatever you do, so you should do you what you like most.

By the by, I haven’t forgotten about my list of questions. That is still in the oven cooking, so to speak. If you will.

      • 52 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 13:23

Thanks so much, Walt. *smiles like a flower*

Perfect! I was just thinking about that actually.

  9. 53 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 11, 2014 at 18:55

I do love Shnoddy’s proverb. I try. I really do, Shnoddy. Is Shnoddy ever around for question and answer sessions? Have we ever heard from him? Or his voice? I think I’d quite like that, Duke.

Change is hard. Change is good. I’m here to offer encouragement, always. Just slide down the big green slide, I say. What do I know… *shurgs*

Lovely spider, Duketh. Does he have a name?

    • 54 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:23

He like to be left alone, sadly. Believe it or not, I have a hard time getting him to send in a few proverbs sometimes. He lives in Scotland, you know.

I’d love to slide down the slide! Oh, Audith, have you seen Superman?

      VJ?

      • 55 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 12, 2014 at 04:58

Oh. Well, I suppose that’s fine. I bet he’s shy, huh? Did you tell him my mother’s family are Wallaces from Scotland? Do that for me, Duke.

I do wish you had… Superman? Which one? The old one…yes. The new one? No. Why??

VJ? That’s a great name. How’d you meet?

      • 56 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 12:59

        I will…but still, he’s a cranky beast, you know!

Did I have the opportunity? The new one…I’m just a-wondering about things, that’s all.

Well, I asked if I could take his picture.

      • 57 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 12, 2014 at 16:02

        Why so cranky, anyway?

Oh that’s not all, you know, I think.

And he said yes! Dis you ask him if he’s seen Charlie?

      • 58 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 20:04

I think he likes to be left alone. Though he is married. It’s a wonder.

        What else is there?

        Maybe he ate Charlie?

      • 59 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 13, 2014 at 01:35

I can understand that, Duke. His wife must be very patient.

Stuff for you to know and the rest of us to wait and see, I guess.

        I want him dead!

      • 60 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:18

Unless she’s worse! You know it’s a possibility.

I feel like I’m just like the PF, you know. I never know what’s about to happen.

        That poor spider?

      • 61 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 13, 2014 at 15:16

Worse? Really? I want to know more.

Thanks for letting me in the group.

        I don’t think so.

      • 62 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 19:40

Well, rumor has it that Mrs. Shnodgrate is rather frumpy and mean.

        You are in the group!

But he could be. Just look at his red face.

      • 63 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 13, 2014 at 21:28

What a bummer for Shnoddy….but if he’s grumpy, then they deserve one another maybe.

        *looks around*

Huh? I don’t think I want to, Duketh.

      • 64 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 13:27

I think they really…love one another.

Hornets are worse, I assure you!

      • 65 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 14, 2014 at 20:24

How nice. I’m very happy for them both.

Hornets are deadly for some of us…

      • 66 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 21:37

For you? Interesting professor fun fact: I’ve never been stung!

      • 67 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 15, 2014 at 02:26

Not for me, but I had a grandfather who was deadly allergic. I’ve never been stung either.

      • 68 Professor VJ Duke August 16, 2014 at 18:32

        What a wonder!!!! *laughing*

      • 69 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 18, 2014 at 03:53

What’s so funny, Duketh? *looks about*

      • 70 Professor VJ Duke August 18, 2014 at 11:48

        Just the whole thing.

      • 71 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister August 19, 2014 at 02:18

Glad I can make you laugh.

      • 72 Professor VJ Duke August 19, 2014 at 11:51

        *smiles bigly*

  10. 73 John W. Howell August 11, 2014 at 18:35

Proverbs hopefully will remain. This one reminds me of another. Let fear not define. Let fear cause fast movement.

    • 74 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:21

Yes, I think Shnod would like it, for sure. I mean, he’d be mad if they left. That’s a good one! Do you know who said it?

      • 75 John W. Howell August 12, 2014 at 00:29

        Yes. Me

      • 76 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:37

I love it! Especially the ‘fast’ part. It needed that, you know.

  11. 77 L. Marie August 11, 2014 at 15:47

It seems like change has already come. That proverb seems very different from Shnodgate’s usual style.
I agree that Schwarz should have a say. Manly-Man as well.

    • 78 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:59

Does it really? What a wonder! Now the professor is thinking about what could possibly be different.

Hmm…for sure. Maybe I’ll just keep those feats coming.

  12. 79 masgautsen August 11, 2014 at 15:38

Changes are scary, but can be good :)

    • 80 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:59

Very true! I guess that means they should be embraced then, huh?

      • 81 masgautsen August 11, 2014 at 17:00

I sure believe so. If they don’t work out you can always go back ;)

      • 82 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 17:02

That’s true. But those decisions you can’t go back from…they’re the worst!

      • 83 masgautsen August 11, 2014 at 17:04

        No disagreement on that!

      • 84 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:19

*bows* Every time I bow, I notice I have two left feet. *shakes head sadly*

  13. 85 Debbie August 11, 2014 at 14:28

Professor, I LOVE your spider! Did you read my mind, for I too posted about spiders this morning??!
I like today’s proverb, too. Fear is an excellent motivator! Perhaps you might want to start each post with one of those proverbs, kind of an intro or something? Just a thought.
It’s hard making changes, but I’ve heard that’s one constant in life. Take your time and think it through — and if you change your mind again, no problem!

    • 86 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:53

*laughs* I just saw that! What a great…coincidence!

That’s a great idea, Debbie! And it would keep Shnod happy, you know.

Very true. But this professor’s problem is that he can’t think straight. What are you supposed to do then?

      • 87 Debbie August 11, 2014 at 17:25

I’ve been having the same problem. Thinking straight, you know. Perhaps we’ve simply got too much on our brains? Or maybe we just need to eat more of something gross — like Lima beans?? Nah, that couldn’t be it!!

      • 88 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:20

*laughing* I hope not! Lima beans…we need saved from those, you know! Where did they come from even???

  14. 89 Simply Skeptical August 11, 2014 at 14:23

    Yes! Like you Sir! :-)

    • 90 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:52

*laughing* Now, SS! The heartless can’t be glorious.

  15. 91 Angeline M August 11, 2014 at 14:06

I love change, and applaud your thinking in that direction. Don’t ever not think! An addition to the proverb might be..and let fear not bite you in the rear. Just like this cute little spider might do the minute you turn your back.

    • 92 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:51

*laughing lots* But don’t you suppose the spider is way too sweet for that? Though, you know, I do suspect its heartless–like the professor.

  16. 93 InfiniteZip August 11, 2014 at 13:58

Way cool spider…and I’m not a huge fan of them but this one is pretty;)

    • 94 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:51

Don’t you like its eyes, Zippy?

      • 95 InfiniteZip August 11, 2014 at 16:55

Of course, and the grey fuzzy hair;) do you think it is poisonous?

      • 96 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 17:01

I don’t know! Probably, though. It’s look like he has a red face on his abdomen, doesn’t it? Or whatever that part of his body is!

  17. 97 FictionFan August 11, 2014 at 13:35

No way is that Shnoddy’s!! It’s far too sensible…profound even! He musta stolen it! Probably from Schwarzy, who as we know is the wisest and most intelligent of them all and should definitely have a say every week (every day would be better though *sighs*).

The odd thing is that that spider didn’t make me shriek and hide – I think Shnoddy’s proverb must be having an effect…

    • 98 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:50

Wouldn’t you suppose, though, that the professor is a bit wiser than Schwarz? Just a bit maybe? And Mr. Shnoddy can be profound at times!

That’s because he’s beautiful (and heartless). How could you possibly be scared of that cute thing?

      • 99 FictionFan August 11, 2014 at 19:19

Er…mmm…well…of course I think very highly of the Professor’s wisdom. Very highly. Indeed. And he’s far more profound than Shnoddy. *speeds off before he notices question remains tactfully unanswered*

That cute thing that you just agreed with InfiniteZip is probably poisonous? Is this yet another attempt to kill FF?? (What on earth is he doing with those legs sticking up? Disco-dancing?)

      • 100 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:25

Did you know the professor can be insulted until his eyebrows fall off? I admit, Schwarz has some sort of wisdom. But you must admit he’s cracked! *wondering if she sped off in a chariot*

*laughing* No! He’s trying to fly. Probably watched Mary Poppins! I’m sure he’s sweet–even if he is dangerous. He’d probably only bite you if you stepped on him. He’s real small, too.

      • 101 FictionFan August 12, 2014 at 14:03

Well, with your new hairdo, are eyebrows really necessary? Those two sentences really work if you change the name to…just as an example…Professor too… *speeds off on her Sopwith Camel*

You’d think he’d know he’d need an umbrella then – silly spider! If I stepped on him, I’d die, and he wouldn’t even need to bite me. Are you sure? Maybe those are giant leaves…

      • 102 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 19:55

*laughing* That’s so mean! I think you hate me. Well, you know, I never knew the good of eyebrows either. I’m glad you agree. This wins me an argument with Nick. A Sopwith Camel? Goodness…I bet that goes slow!

No, I’m sure. You have to look closely to see his brilliance. (Just like Schwarz!)

      • 103 FictionFan August 13, 2014 at 00:53

Nonsense, o fluffy-haired one! I could never hate you! Who else would give me the great amusement of imagining him having a heated argument about eyebrows? Huh! You wouldn’t say that if you were a German fighter pilot!

        (So, soooo jealous! Sooo c&a!!!)

      • 104 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:12

*laughs* It was just a passing comment. Oh I probably would! (You see, I fly a P-51 Mustang.)

I can’t see how it can be both! I’m not jealous…just saying things is all.

      • 105 FictionFan August 13, 2014 at 16:53

Uh-huh! Quite cool, but not as heroic as Sopwiths. The joy of not knowing when bits might fall off added to the glamour…

Oh, it is! (And f!) It’s OK – I won’t tell anyone how jealous you are – it’ll be our secret…

      • 106 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 19:45

*laughing lots* You weren’t a Sopwith pilot, were you, FEF? *laughs*

I think you want me jealous, don’t you?!

      • 107 FictionFan August 13, 2014 at 22:13

*icy stare* Is the Professor implying that FF is…ancient??? If I were you, I wouldn’t stand beneath my bombs…

Who? Me? Whatever gives you that idea? *innocent face*

      • 108 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 13:33

*laughs* What a stare! It’s nice, you know. No! Of course not. Look here, I was flying a P-51. That’s from the 40’s. And people familiar with the White Company are from the 40’s.

It was Tuppence who told me!

      • 109 FictionFan August 14, 2014 at 15:48

The Sopwith is WW1 though!!! *laughing loads* Fancy you remembering that! But that was BUS! Who, let me remind you, is much, much, much, much, MUCH older than FF!

*jealous face* I shall have to have words with that little beast…

      • 110 Professor VJ Duke August 14, 2014 at 21:28

I know! But…well…that is a good point. Hm. *smiles bigly big* Oh! She can’t be that much older.

        But be careful!

      • 111 FictionFan August 15, 2014 at 13:11

Did you read Biggles when you were a wee laddie? Bet you’d have really liked them… *frowns* She is too! It’s one of these time paradox/parallel universe things!

Yes, now that you two are ganging up on me, I have to be on guard constantly… *twitches nervously*

      • 112 Professor VJ Duke August 16, 2014 at 18:47

Biggles… *laughing* Never heard of it! Well a time paradox is cool! But…I still don’t believe you. Haha…

That’s horrible. But she doesn’t listen to me, you know.

  18. 113 AmyRose August 11, 2014 at 13:31

Change …. so many people don’t like change because of FEAR. I am thrilled, Professor, to hear you are not afraid of FEAR or change for that matter. I took a leap of faith and did street photography. Yep, me, the flower lady. So if I can overcome fear (asking peeps to take pics) and change from my norm, so can you! Fear keeps you imprisoned in a world of your own making … so that you won’t ever reach your potentials. There you have it from LadyP. Have a Good Day, Professor. OH, LOVE the spider! Love, LP

    • 114 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:49

So true, LadyP! See how wise you are? Street photos! Wow. I’ll have to go and look at some. Which is your favorite? Of the ones you’ve taken, I mean.

      (Bet the spider is heartless!)

      • 115 AmyRose August 11, 2014 at 17:12

Of the street photos. My fav is the girl walking the dog. Yup, that it is. And that spider …. hmmmm …. have to think on that. Love, LadyP

      • 116 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:19

Spider = professor. Both heartless and mean!

      • 117 AmyRose August 12, 2014 at 12:36

        Correction ….. Spider < Professor
        💖 = Professor

      • 118 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 13:02

        That’s impossible! I’m heartless.

      • 119 AmyRose August 12, 2014 at 14:04

*sighs deeply and with frustration* Round and round we go with this, Professor. I will not continue telling you that you really do have a heart. I guess you have to find that out for yourself. What is the thing that goes “thump-thump” in your chest? Just askin’ …..

      • 120 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 19:55

        A valve?

  19. 121 The Dancing Rider August 11, 2014 at 13:31

I like the ideas, and I think changing up the PL keeps things fresh. I love the spider, LOVE IT!

    • 122 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:48

Yes! Isn’t it gorgeous? Wouldn’t you like to look like that? I would, for sure.

      • 123 The Dancing Rider August 11, 2014 at 20:12

It would certainly be better than how I look now! ;-)

      • 124 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:30

*laughing* How cruel to yourself! That’s true for me, but not you!

  20. 125 PorterGirl August 11, 2014 at 13:12

Great proverb – I am a big advocate of harnessing fear. I should hate it if there were no more proverbs – I feel that they make me wiser.

Schwarz should definitely have the opportunity to voice his fantastic thoughts! He is a sterling chap and I am keen to listen to him.

Change is a very good thing, Professor. I am not sure about that spider – eek! It is both beautiful and terrifying all at once. Rather like the Professor.

    • 126 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 16:48

Yes, but they’re so dadblame confusing at times! (If you ever write a proverb, we’ll post it!) Harnessing fear…it can be hard–but it’s so fun!

*laughs* Well…this professor will see what he can do. But a few characters sorta want the spot.

*laughs more* I’m ugly and terrifying, you mean. Did you notice how the spider is trying to fly, I think?

      • 127 PorterGirl August 11, 2014 at 20:10

The spider is trying to fly, which is even more scary! I feel he is coming to get me. I think all spiders have that plan.

May I share with you a proverb or two from my Grandfather? Favourites incluse “Enough is as good as a feast” (clearly not true – a feast is as good as a feast!) and “If life seems hard then you’re doing it wrong”.

Ugly and terrifying. I think not.

      • 128 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 00:30

*laughing* Lucy! They’re quite nice really…once you get to know them. Do you hate the beasts?

You certainly can! Would it be okay to use those next week? And I agree with you about the “Enough is as good as a feast.” *laughs* You’re always making me laugh!

        I’m an orc of sorts.

      • 129 PorterGirl August 12, 2014 at 07:07

I do not hate them, they are incredible creatures but the big ones make me a little nervous. All those legs! How many legs does one thing need, for goodness sake? But they do good work, eating flies and what not.

Please do use them – it would be a great honour indeed. So pleased you agree with the feast one – only a feast will do!

Orcs are awesome. I am more of a Hobbit, I think.

      • 130 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 13:00

*laughs* Yes, you have a point. They’ve got a lot of legs. And fangs, I bet! I hate horseflies.

That’s right! (I’ve had that used on me in the past, and I always disagree too!)

        Probably me too!

      • 131 PorterGirl August 12, 2014 at 13:38

A horsefly bit me on the ankle and the swelling went up to my knee! I only have very short legs though, so it’s not as bad as it sounds.

      • 132 Professor VJ Duke August 12, 2014 at 19:50

That sounds dreadful, though! I mean…those horseflies are so mean. Have you heard anything about the Japanese Hornets?

      • 133 PorterGirl August 13, 2014 at 07:14

Japanese Hornets? They sound interesting. Are they even more vicious than regular hornets?

      • 134 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:21

Well, yes. They’re a horrid plague actually. A few of them can clear a whole hive of honey bees (10K-30K bees in a large hive) in a few hours! They’re huge, too. About the size of your thumb!

      • 135 PorterGirl August 13, 2014 at 13:23

My thumb is actually quite small. But those things sound as scary as a nun! And those poor bees. I like bees. I have so many of them in my garden right now.

      • 136 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 13:34

Yes! Honey bees are just sweet little things. But those hornets… *runs*

      • 137 PorterGirl August 13, 2014 at 14:07

        Eeeep!

      • 138 Professor VJ Duke August 13, 2014 at 19:31

        *agrees wholeheartedly*

  21. 139 Simply Skeptical August 11, 2014 at 13:08

I like the proverb! Fear can be so crippling if you let it! Great Luck on all the PL changes professor and crew you’re so creative! Looking forward to the fun!!!

    • 140 Professor VJ Duke August 11, 2014 at 13:10

Many thanks, SS! Fear is one of those deadly things that can be so different every time you think of it. Yes! We shall see…aren’t changes glorious?
