A Guitar War

The professor has always wondered–in truth this is true–what a guitar war would be like. Would it be brutal, bloody, or peaceful-like?

This following video–unlike the professor–is composed of over 98 video shots, 14 guitar tracks, and close to 5 hours of filming, and days of editing.

You must understand, the guitarist is a funny chap who likes to clone himself. The professor does not approve.

That is all, gentlemen.

Cool! I play guitar, but this completely puts me to shame.

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke December 17, 2014 at 14:32

Do you do a bit of classical stuff?

      • 3 erinkenobi2893 December 17, 2014 at 15:59

A bit. I don’t have a nylon string. Mine has steel strings, so technically it’s a jazz guitar, but I mostly play classical. ;-)

      • 4 Professor VJ Duke December 18, 2014 at 03:17

That’s cool. What sort of guitar is it? If you don’t mind…

      • 5 erinkenobi2893 December 18, 2014 at 14:03

Just a regular guitar, I think. Except it has steel strings. It does sound pretty, though. ;-)

      • 6 Professor VJ Duke December 18, 2014 at 20:20

I’m very glad you play, madam.

      • 7 erinkenobi2893 December 19, 2014 at 01:47

Thank you. *bows* I should learn some new songs…

      • 8 Professor VJ Duke December 19, 2014 at 15:45

I could send you some classical ones…

      • 9 erinkenobi2893 December 21, 2014 at 14:30

        Sounds good. :-)

  2. 10 Hazy December 16, 2014 at 14:07

Excellent, excellent battle of guitar warrior(s)! I think the very talented chap might have been in his right mind to clone himself for this. The arrangement is very well done indeed. *applauds*

Ahem, and I must say, your skills totally put me to shame in my attempts to “play” the guitar. *laughs*

    • 11 Professor VJ Duke December 16, 2014 at 16:16

*bows* Many thanks, Hazy! This professor appreciates it greatly great!

No! You must keep trying…do you practice a bit?

      • 12 Hazy December 21, 2014 at 13:24

*curtsys* My pleasure! (the professor deserves the compliments!)

I do practice, but just a wee bit than I probably should. *sheepish laugh* I only know enough to write some songs. And you know what? I think barre chords don’t like me, haha

      • 13 Professor VJ Duke December 21, 2014 at 23:19

*laughing* Barre chords have everyone! Devilish to get all the strings to ring when fingering one, huh? You write songs? Cool!

      • 14 Hazy December 26, 2014 at 01:13

Yes! F’s and B’s, we don’t agree. They often fight me. *laughs*

Thanks! Weatherly thinks the songs sound OK. But maybe he’s just being nice haha.

      • 15 Professor VJ Duke December 26, 2014 at 15:46

I know! They’re real bears of chords… They fight me still too!

I’m sure they do. Wish I could hear!

      • 16 Hazy January 1, 2015 at 11:12

They really are! I don’t think I have the patience to try and be much, much better at it. *hangs head in shame*

You could hear, if you’d like to. But promise you won’t laugh!

      • 17 Professor VJ Duke January 1, 2015 at 20:45

No, you get credit for trying–and, more importantly, having fun!

        I’d love to. And I won’t laugh!

      • 18 Hazy January 2, 2015 at 11:16

*smiles bigly* thanks, professor! I do have fun (can’t say the same for the listeners though haha)

Okies. Are you surely sure? I’ll drop a link through email.

      • 19 Professor VJ Duke January 2, 2015 at 19:37

*laughs* That’s what matters! And I’m sure you’re better than you let on.

Absolutely! If it’s fine with you.

      • 20 Hazy January 6, 2015 at 15:26

I’m probably worse than I let on! *laughs lots* But thank you for thinking better of me.

        Alrighty! Beware your ears haha

      • 21 Professor VJ Duke January 6, 2015 at 23:04

*laughs* Oh! No! Won’t believe it.

I’m sure it will be great.

      • 22 Hazy January 7, 2015 at 14:59

        *curtsys* You’re too kind!

Email sent. I hope you still think so after listening. *laughs*

      • 23 Professor VJ Duke January 7, 2015 at 21:51

Listen to it in just a second here…

  3. 24 desertdweller29 December 5, 2014 at 15:42

This is why women fall in love with musicians. Just beautiful! I can listen to that all day… This is going to make me pick up my guitar and torture every cat in the neighborhood.

    • 25 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:07

Did you like it? Thanks! It was fun to put together. And definitely pick up your guitar! If have a question, just ask your local professor.

      • 26 desertdweller29 December 7, 2014 at 00:16

I loved it, Professor! You’re amazing! Actually, I believe I requested this video?! I watched it 3 times. Forget that other dude you recommended. I want your album. Can I download any songs on iTunes?

      • 27 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:32

Did you? You requested this video? *wide surprised professor eyes* And thanks so much…means a lot to this dull professor. Wow…well, I don’t really have an album…believe it or not! You mean you’d take me over TommyE?

      • 28 desertdweller29 December 8, 2014 at 16:53

The Professor is NOT dull! The Professor is talented.

In one of my comments a while back I said I wanted a PL video of your guitar playing… I believe. And wha-la! You need an album. I don’t even know who Tommy E is, but you’re worthy of a duel with him! (Guitar dueling, of course.) You’d string him up good!

      • 29 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 21:04

*bows and his hat falls off* I do appreciate it!

That’s right, you did! I remember!!! Wow! *big professor eyes* Beat Tommy E? That would be fight. He’s good. And he’s my hero–sorta. We’re shooting a Christmas vid, you know.

  4. 30 ForeignFilmFan December 4, 2014 at 22:59

    Wowawee! Humdinger!

    • 31 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:01

Hi WOB! And, look, your PA is rather excellent.

  5. 32 L. Marie December 4, 2014 at 16:40

While I can’t blame you for disapproving, that video was totally awesome.

    • 33 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:16

Who do you suppose won the war?

  6. 34 Catherine December 4, 2014 at 04:22

This is rather lovely! He can clone, too, so he is extra-talented. I think the cloning can be excused in this case.

    • 35 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:11

Yes, I’d bet you’re right. What do you make of him?

  7. 36 walt walker December 4, 2014 at 00:51

Very much enjoyed these battle axes and their battlings against each other.

    • 37 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:09

But who won, would you say, Mr. Walker?

      • 38 walt walker December 6, 2014 at 17:24

        I thought you did.

      • 39 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:08

Hmm…that is a very…well…what I mean to say is: that answer is a bit…well…does that answer work, you see?

      • 40 walt walker December 7, 2014 at 01:16

        Maybe not. The pirate?

      • 41 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:33

Nah…let’s go with the other chap. I think Dick would have picked him too.

  8. 42 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 3, 2014 at 22:33

Duke, did you shoot and edit this video? You must have, because it is flawless. The sound is…phenomenal. He’s good. Crazy good. Man do I love guitarists. I don’t even know how to form the words to explain how much I enjoyed watching this pirate. I loved it. An amazing bloody battle, I’d say. Has a winner been chosen? Surely, you would admit to this being you, if in fact, it is. Right?

    • 43 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:08

No, I didn’t shoot it: Nick did. Isn’t he amazing? Flawless? *jumps up and down* Really? Nice! You know, Audith, I really do appreciate it. A winner has not been chosen. Who won, do yo think? Yes, I would. And, yes, it’s the professor.

      • 44 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 5, 2014 at 03:05

Nick did? Nicholas. ..job well done! He is amazing, Duke. The best friend a professor could ask for, I’d say. Yes! Completely flawless!! I should know because the battle has been heard by my ears far too many times. *hides in a hole* The winner? Hmm. The pirate on the stairs, I think. Only because he beats his guitar like a drum and drummers can be equally cooleth. One of my favorite parts, you see. Plus, he looks so relaxed on the stairs. The prodessor? *smiles* Hi, Duketh. I think you’re brilliant and I like your glasses. Pity you didn’t wear the red ones.

      • 45 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:06

He sure is! You’ve heard this battle before? It took us hours to get all the shots right. Yeah, percussion guitar is rather spicy, I must admit. Lots of different sounds one can get.

Oh, I’m not brilliant. Just…well…professorish. They were actually Nick’s! I borrowed them.

      • 46 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 7, 2014 at 04:55

No just yours. Well, percussion guitar is on my short list of favorites.

Okay, if you say so, Duke. *shakes her head* You should just take the compliment, I think. Just say…thank you. Nice of Nick to let you borrow them.

      • 47 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:38

I just started experimenting with the thing. Usually that sort of thing is done on a steel-string guitar…but it works on nylon, too!

I take it then! And thank you very much. It means more to me than you really can know…

      • 48 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 8, 2014 at 20:05

I think you’ve been practicing a lot, huh?! You sound much more seasoned than you’re letting on, Sir. Worked great!

Thank you *smiles* See how easy that was…for both of us? What you shared with…umm, us, means more than you’ll ever know, as well. You’re brave.

      • 49 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 21:19

Thank you! Well, I have done it a few times. But I’m still experimenting. It’s funny, stuff I do in my playing now, I could never have done last year. It’s just trying all those new things. I usually do practice a lot. Well, I have the guitar in my hands a lot.

        *smiles bigly* Like Hector?

      • 50 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 9, 2014 at 03:08

I like that you’re working so hard, you know. Your confidence shows in much of what you’ve done this year. You should be proud of yourself. *becomes lost in thoughts* Hands on your guitar…but not playing it. Hmmm. Sounds like you should name your guitar.

*sparkles like a loon* Yes! Just like Hector, Duke…

      • 51 Professor VJ Duke December 9, 2014 at 21:35

Play me something! I’m not sure what to name it, really…

        A loon? *laughs* Cool!

      • 52 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 9, 2014 at 21:57

I couldn’t possibly…I’d be horrid. Duke. You need to name your guitar. ‘Tis very very very important…

        Yes, you know loons, right?

      • 53 Professor VJ Duke December 10, 2014 at 15:07

I’ve never seen a loon… Bringing Up Baby has made me equate loons and leopards.

        What should I name it?

      • 54 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 10, 2014 at 21:16

        What is Bringing Up Baby?

Probably a female name, I guess. Tis usually what men do.

      • 55 Professor VJ Duke December 11, 2014 at 19:05

It’s a very old movie–way before you were born–with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn.

        That’s true…but what?

      • 56 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 11, 2014 at 22:40

Yes, very very very way before I was born. Old movies sometimes bore me. Do you like that one?

I think usually your mother’s name, maybe a grandmother, the girl that got away…whomever you think about, I guess.

      • 57 Professor VJ Duke December 13, 2014 at 18:05

It’s funny, yes, I do like it, I think. That’s an odd sentence, I must say. It’s a fun movie.

Nah! My instrument is a manly warrior!

      • 58 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 13, 2014 at 19:03

        Where is the odd sentence?

Then name the guitar Hector, I guess.

      • 59 Professor VJ Duke December 15, 2014 at 03:53

Oh, just that junky one I wrote.

        Yeah…but you don’t like that.

      • 60 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 15, 2014 at 06:18

I think it is a smashingly good sentence, actually. Makes perfect sense!

Why do you say that? He’s your favorite. Of course, I like Hector. The name may not suit your guitar, but it is a fine tribute. Just seems it should be a woman’s name…you know, so you blend in with other guitarists..then again you could never successfully do that…you’re far to unique. Choose a name already…! *feels bad for your guitar*

      • 61 Professor VJ Duke December 15, 2014 at 21:04

*bows* Well, I do thank you!

He likes being nameless…and I know you don’t like it. I can just tell.

      • 62 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 16, 2014 at 20:18

You’re correct. I don’t like it. He deserves a name, I think. I have a thing about names…I like naming things.

      • 63 Professor VJ Duke December 17, 2014 at 14:52

        What would you name it?

      • 64 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 17, 2014 at 20:56

I don’t know him very well…how do I name a guitar I’ve seen only play, well, two songs. *smiles*

      • 65 Professor VJ Duke December 18, 2014 at 03:32

        You’ll get to see another…Friday!

      • 66 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 18, 2014 at 05:16

No way!! Already? You have no idea how happy you’ve made me.

      • 67 Professor VJ Duke December 18, 2014 at 20:08

Yes! We just got it finished up. Hope you like it.

      • 68 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister December 18, 2014 at 23:01

Of course I will, Duketh. I already love it.

      • 69 Professor VJ Duke December 19, 2014 at 15:26

        Wow!

  9. 70 weggieboy December 3, 2014 at 22:24

Excellent! I thought I’d not watch it all the way. (I’m a bit of a Bach purist, which means my nose tends to turn upwards when he is triffled with…!) Yet I was compelled to watch because the guitarist is very good! A most entertaining use of 4:35!

    • 71 weggieboy December 3, 2014 at 22:25

      “trifled”, rather…

    • 72 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:07

*bows* Many thanks I must say. Ah! Bach loves being messed with. He told me so himself!

  10. 73 Debbie December 3, 2014 at 21:02

Okay, I’m just going to confess I had no intention of watching this entire video. I’ll watch a few minutes, then get back to work, said I. HA, was I ever wrong! I watched the entire thing, more than once — and I can’t say often enough how impressive this young man is! What talent, what persistence!

I taught myself a few guitar chords back in the day, and it’s not easy — especially getting over the callouses and the ruining of one’s manicure! Great choices of music, too!! Are you going to tell us who the musician is, Professor??

    • 74 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:01

*smiles bigly big* He was persistent! Especially that Bach fellow. Who do you suppose won the war?

Definitely! Callouses are bears, though I never really worried about a manicure. (Not sure what one is.) Well…yes…it’s the professor.

      • 75 Debbie December 4, 2014 at 20:34

Super well-done, then! I’ve always believed the real geniuses are the ones who make difficult things look easy — and you *almost* make me want to play guitar again!

      • 76 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 19:52

Almost?! No, you have to take it up again! How can I possibly convince you?

  11. 77 Louis from VA December 3, 2014 at 20:30

Well I must say that was pretty amazing. I suppose a guitar war isn’t too brutal after all. Though I imagine it would hurt to get hit over the head with one. :) How come you don’t approve of his cloning himself?

    • 78 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:00

*bows* Many thanks. Well, I’m not sure…I suppose I should approve, huh? I mean, he did it well.

      • 79 Louis from VA December 11, 2014 at 03:34

        He did!

      • 80 Professor VJ Duke December 11, 2014 at 19:17

        *nods*

  12. 81 Jackie December 3, 2014 at 19:35

Well played, well played! Bravo to the guitar man. Are you two related?

    • 82 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:00

Yes, we are! How’d you know?

      • 83 Jackie December 5, 2014 at 20:59

        Just a hunch.

      • 84 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:07

        I like hunches bunches.

      • 85 Jackie December 8, 2014 at 14:58

        Hunches are punchalicious!

      • 86 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 20:56

        That they are!

  13. 87 Susan P December 3, 2014 at 19:13

Cloned himself? Can he do that with Dueling Banjos?

    • 88 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:59

      Who is the Dueling Banjos?

      • 89 Susan P December 4, 2014 at 19:26

The only person in the world who can.

      • 90 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 19:50

Now, I’m even more confused, you know.

      • 91 Susan P December 6, 2014 at 20:31

Seems like you need a little deliverance…

      • 92 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:27

You know, that reminds me of Prince of Egypt. Has Princess seen that?

      • 93 Susan P December 8, 2014 at 14:35

Mmmmm-probably not. She likes Beauty and The Beast, though.

      • 94 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:49

I like Gaston. He was pretty cool. And I felt a bit sorry for him.

      • 95 Susan P December 8, 2014 at 14:56

I did NOT like him. He was an annoying creature at best.

      • 96 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 20:56

But he ate four dozen eggs…

      • 97 Susan P December 8, 2014 at 21:50

That might impress a room full of men, but not me.

      • 98 Professor VJ Duke December 9, 2014 at 21:28

        He had large biceps!

      • 99 Susan P December 10, 2014 at 02:15

I’d rather they had a big heart.

      • 100 Professor VJ Duke December 10, 2014 at 15:20

        I lost mine.

      • 101 Susan P December 10, 2014 at 17:05

        I don’t think so.

      • 102 Professor VJ Duke December 10, 2014 at 20:51

But I did! What proof have thou of it? Audrey said I lost it.

      • 103 Susan P December 10, 2014 at 22:58

        I don’t believe it.

      • 104 Professor VJ Duke December 11, 2014 at 19:08

        And why?

      • 105 Susan P December 11, 2014 at 20:26

        Why do you think?

      • 106 Professor VJ Duke December 13, 2014 at 18:00

Hey! Not fair turning the question around.

      • 107 Susan P December 13, 2014 at 18:43

        Why isn’t it fair?

      • 108 Professor VJ Duke December 15, 2014 at 03:49

        Because I said so, dadblameit!

      • 109 Susan P December 15, 2014 at 12:47

Sheesh. You sound like my father.

      • 110 Professor VJ Duke December 15, 2014 at 21:06

Dadblameit sounds so severe, I agree.

      • 111 Susan P December 15, 2014 at 21:47

Oh so now you are being agreeable? ;)

      • 112 Professor VJ Duke December 16, 2014 at 12:53

        Aren’t I sweeter that way?

      • 113 Susan P December 16, 2014 at 19:05

        Is that a trick question?

      • 114 Professor VJ Duke December 17, 2014 at 14:46

        Yes, I admit it is.

      • 115 Susan P December 17, 2014 at 15:33

*throws a basket of clothes pins at Professor*

      • 116 Professor VJ Duke December 18, 2014 at 03:13

        Crap *ducks*

      • 117 Susan P December 18, 2014 at 11:46

      • 118 Professor VJ Duke December 18, 2014 at 20:13

I liked that! They were jamming!

      • 119 Susan P December 18, 2014 at 22:33

I like it, too. Haven’t ever watched the movie, though.

      • 120 Professor VJ Duke December 19, 2014 at 15:23

Seems like it would be fun!

      • 121 Susan P December 20, 2014 at 01:44

You should watch it in a room full of toddlers.

      • 122 Professor VJ Duke December 20, 2014 at 15:24

        They wouldn’t get it!

      • 123 Susan P December 20, 2014 at 20:51

They would get the dueling banjos, though.

      • 124 Professor VJ Duke December 21, 2014 at 23:09

        True. They would.

      • 125 Susan P December 22, 2014 at 13:09

How went your guitar practice and such?

      • 126 Professor VJ Duke December 23, 2014 at 19:03

Oh dear…well, I’m working for this competition…but I don’t know! They’re soooooo (the competitors and past winners) good!

      • 127 Susan P December 23, 2014 at 20:54

You are not going to give up, are you?

      • 128 Professor VJ Duke December 26, 2014 at 15:37

        No! I shouldn’t, should I?

      • 129 Susan P December 26, 2014 at 21:38

        Absolutely not! Go get ’em!

      • 130 Professor VJ Duke December 27, 2014 at 14:50

Yes, you’re quite right, Susan! *tries to prepare*

      • 131 Susan P December 27, 2014 at 16:52

Move those fingers and toes and show them how it’s done!

      • 132 Professor VJ Duke December 28, 2014 at 20:42

*Laughs* Now, if I could use the toes, too…well, that’d be awesome, I say.

      • 133 Susan P December 28, 2014 at 20:51

Go for it!!! Maybe DS can help you…

      • 134 Professor VJ Duke December 29, 2014 at 21:54

DS would be brilliant at it, you know.

      • 135 Susan P December 29, 2014 at 22:38

        Would he?

      • 136 Professor VJ Duke December 31, 2014 at 02:05

I think so; sometimes he can be very odd.

      • 137 Susan P December 31, 2014 at 12:33

        And not only him.

      • 138 Professor VJ Duke January 1, 2015 at 20:40

        Definitely not the professor.

      • 139 Susan P January 1, 2015 at 20:57

        ^o^
        O

      • 140 Professor VJ Duke January 2, 2015 at 19:29

Now that is a cool face, you must admit.

      • 141 Susan P January 2, 2015 at 21:13

Looks like you have a new calling card, sir.

      • 142 Professor VJ Duke January 3, 2015 at 22:16

        What’s this mean?

      • 143 Susan P January 4, 2015 at 01:29

I don’t know…it’s black on white. Were you trying for any particular effect?

      • 144 Professor VJ Duke January 4, 2015 at 20:18

        Umm…nah! I don’t think so, that is.

      • 145 Susan P January 4, 2015 at 22:44

I thought you might be going boutique or something. Color coordinated, you know?

      • 146 Professor VJ Duke January 5, 2015 at 11:36

Does that have to do with flowers?

      • 147 Susan P January 5, 2015 at 18:11

        Naw…that would be something altogether.

      • 148 Professor VJ Duke January 5, 2015 at 22:27

        Oh, I see, I think.

  14. 149 Simply Skeptical December 3, 2014 at 17:26

Is it possible that “I” (that is in me) am speechless! One never knows what to expect in the “Land of Punchy”. Who is this warrior of superb unsettled exhiliarating entertainment? He wouldn’t be the professor’s son by any wild chance would he?

    • 150 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:57

My son? *laughs* Of course the professor isn’t married…who do you suppose he is?

      • 151 Simply Skeptical December 4, 2014 at 23:25

But I see a resemblance. Perhaps a nephew? cousin? no? The winner is the pirate since the Bach fellow is a gentleman. He and Mr. Ratherquite may get along spendidly.

      • 152 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:01

But who were you pulling for?

  15. 153 Bethy December 3, 2014 at 16:57

    Well that was super coolios!

    • 154 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:56

*bows* Thank you. And strange, you must admit.

      • 155 Bethy December 4, 2014 at 20:32

Well…not as strange as you would first think.

      • 156 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 19:51

Did you think it strange at first?

      • 157 Bethy December 8, 2014 at 16:41

Not really. My husband plays the drums so I’m familiar with drum wars, so I thought it would be similar, just not so drummy.

      • 158 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 21:02

*laughs* Drum wars would be cool… and so much louder, I think!

  16. 159 FictionFan December 3, 2014 at 16:51

WHO is that cute and adorable and soooo talented young man??? Clearly not the Professor – far too young. Could it be – is it – my Schwarzy?!?

Fabulous, C-W-W! You are as talented as I always assumed – and your wrist position is perfect… *pretends to look knowledgeable*. I might even have to revise my opinion of Bach (which is NOT pronounced Bock by the way!) Thank you so much for sharing that – you’ve made my day, week, month, year, decade, century….

    Bravo! Encore!!!

    • 160 FictionFan December 3, 2014 at 17:00

PS How many times can you watch a youtube video before you wear it out?

      • 161 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:56

Never wears out! *FEF made the professor’s day*

      • 162 FictionFan December 4, 2014 at 22:36

I shall be putting that to the test… *glows proudly*

      • 163 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:00

*smiles bigly* You’re proud of me!

      • 164 FictionFan December 7, 2014 at 17:28

        Always! *smiles proudly*

      • 165 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:45

        *smiles bigly big*

    • 166 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:56

*blushes and hides* Umm… Wouldn’t it be a bit too young for your Schwarzy too?

*laughs* You remember about the wrist position. You are knowledgeable now! So, you mean, you actually liked Bach? Cool. And Monk. This is wonderful, you know. (Yes, it is!)

We are planning to shoot another…but you wouldn’t like it!

      • 167 FictionFan December 4, 2014 at 22:35

*narrows eyes* Sometimes I think you forget I’m eternally 21…

*laughs* I’m more knowledgeable than I was, anyway! And I told you that my problem with Bach was that he doesn’t touch my heart – you solved that problem! *bets he blushes* (It’s pronounced Bach – as in Achtung! but with a B and no tung… Americans! Tchah!)

Jazz, then? But…well… I might be changing my mind about jazz…a bit…a little bit. Will Nick be playing drums? *smiles bravely*

      • 168 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 19:59

Wouldn’t you rather be eternally 76?

*he does* Aw! That is such a nice thing to say… Really? That is just great…wow… *tries to hide again* (*laughing* Um…still trying to wrap my head around that one… I think I need additional information.)

No, it’s not jazz. All guitar again. Nylon-sting it so happens. You might like it. (Did you see? WOB showed up! Must needs go say hi.)

      • 169 FictionFan December 7, 2014 at 17:28

76?? 76!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re trying to make me have a heart attack and die so you can steal all my chocolate, aren’t you??? I shall never, NEVER be 76!!

Really really! (So c&a when you try to hide!) I noticed another very exciting thing about the video. At first I was so carried away by the music, the location etc, but I don’t know how I could have missed it! If you look at the title picture, closely – the right-hand side Professor – look! Look! I swear that’s a cute little kiss-curl on his forehead!! *swoons and rips up all her pictures of Darby*

If it’s all guitar, I’m almost certain to like it – unless it’s a medley of Led Zeppelin numbers. But if it is, I shall learn to like it… *brave face* What’s the significance of nylon-string, oh guitar guru? (Haha! I know! Wowawee!)

      • 170 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:45

You have chocolate stored? See…I’d think you had eaten it all… I’ll send you a chocolate cannoli for Christmas.

*laughs and laughs and laughs* Really?! *bangs head on desk* I bet you’re just seeing things! Yes, that’s it. You must have seen things.

Well…not Zeppelin. It’s actually called–the working title for the video right now is–“Handel’s Christmas.” I’m not sure if you’re familiar with Handel’s Messiah a bit, bits, and little bits, but that theme (one of them) is used. I think you just might dig it.

Well, here’s the thing. The nylon-string guitar is most often used by classical (or flamenco) players. It’s called “classical” because the music most often played is, in fact, mostly classical. Plus, the technique of a classical player focuses more on right-hand development. So, the nylon-string guitar tends to give more of a rounder and softer sound than a steel-string guitar normally would. I do hope that makes a bit of sense.

      • 171 FictionFan December 8, 2014 at 16:58

Soooo rude!! But mmm… that might persuade me to forgive you…

*laughs lots and lots* Am not! Did not! Admit it – you can see it too! So adorable! It’s so nice to know you’re just as fluffy as I expected!

I am vaguely familiar with it but wouldn’t say I know it well – I shall however have a re-listen – just so I can check you get it right… But that sounds much more my style than a medley of 70s rock, I admit! Can’t wait! *beams* But are we ever to hear the Professor play clarinet though? *taps foot demandingly*

Thank you – yes, that made a lot of sense. All of it except the bit about ‘right-hand development’ – what does that mean, kind Prof? (*starts plotting how to get a flamenco music vid out of him*)

      • 172 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 21:11

The professor is only rude every other Friday. Two of them, then.

*laughs* I “might” see what you “think” you mean. How’s that?

Oh no…don’t you think you shouldn’t relisten? I mean…what if I got something wrong? Plus a PL Christmas, don’t forget. *laughs* Funny you should say that…what sort of thing would you like?

Just to get the fingers moving independently of each other. Allows for…well, like that Bach song you saw. It’d be easier to tell you in person. I’ll have to bring you a guitar. (*laughs maybe a bit then chokes* You wouldn’t want that.)

      • 173 FictionFan December 9, 2014 at 16:06

        Two should definitely do it…

*chuckling lots* Yes, that’ll do fine! Soooo sweet…

Well, if you got it wrong, I should just have to resign as PEP and find a new hero – Kenny G perhaps! (*gags a little*) But fortunately you won’t! Hurrah! My Schwarzy better be in it – you promised me a Schwarzy skit *sad face filled with inexpressible longing* Oooh – well, I don’t really know any clarinetty type music exactly, but I think you should go for something romantic so your ladies get an opportunity to swoon… (though not too much or I shall get jealous)… or you could use the opportunity to convince me that jazz is a good thing…

Ah, I think I see what you mean! Yes, do! And bring the clarinet too… (Oh, yes, I would!!!!! You KNOW I would!!!!! But I’d settle for just generally Spanish…)

      • 174 Professor VJ Duke December 9, 2014 at 21:45

        *growls*

Well, I wouldn’t want you to switch to Kenny. Then I’d have to kill him. Schwarz will definitely be in it. And Mr. R–your favorite. Schwarz is coming! It’s been just a bit busy wrapping gifts. *Laughs* Hey you wouldn’t want to do some of my Christmas shopping, would you? Well, interestingly enough I did record a Clarinet thingy…I could send it to you, or make you wait for a better one–which do you prefer?

I’m invited! (Spanish…I’ll keep that in mind! Nick wanted to do a mashup of Inception and Schindler’s List next…)

      • 175 FictionFan December 10, 2014 at 01:18

Awwww! Would you really? That’s so lovely! (How about I switch, you kill him, and then I switch back? No, no, of course not – what was I thinking? Don’t kill him – just stuff a Christmas stocking down his sax.) Oh, you don’t need to wrap Schwarzy – although I admit there’s something extremely appealing about the idea. Especially the unwrapping part… *wicked face* Yes, I’ll buy all the chocolate gifts for you – can’t guarantee delivery though!

*dances excitedly* Now you must know the answer to that! Both, please. Both! Both!!!! BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’ll have to charter a plane just to carry all the musical instruments though…and the twinkies! (*laughs* Nick has an original mind! I’d actually love to see that – it sounds glorious!)

      • 176 Professor VJ Duke December 10, 2014 at 15:19

Yes, I’d have to, I fear. Wouldn’t want to lose FEF! (*laughing lots* I do feel bad for Kenny…)

Both?! Can’t do that! I’m on a strict schedule here! I’ll get the other one for you. Hope you like. But you probably won’t!

*laughs* The twinkies… (He sure does! What a task master…)

      • 177 FictionFan December 10, 2014 at 16:46

Awwww! *blushes* That’s twice you’ve made me blush today – I like it! *smiles bigly*

Oh, I didn’t mean immediately – well, not the second one anyway. I’m not unreasonable, you know… *taps foot impatiently and checks e-mail…again…*

And the cannoli – canolli – cannolli – pastry things! (Well, someone has to keep you in line…)

      • 178 Professor VJ Duke December 10, 2014 at 20:50

*smiles bigly* Enough of this lady talk!

        *laughs* I’ll try…give me a minute here…

I hate cannolli…I’m not sure how to spell or pluralize them either. (Can’t I just run free?)

      • 179 FictionFan December 11, 2014 at 01:18

        Yessir! *salutes*

*smiles and smiles and smiles and smiles and smiles and…*

I think we should just eat them – that’ll teach them! (Ah! That’s the artistic temperament speaking…)

      • 180 Professor VJ Duke December 11, 2014 at 19:15

        *nods* Dismissed!

        And then curses.

        Okay, let’s do it. Here’s a chocolate one. (I think you’re right.)

      • 181 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member December 5, 2014 at 01:58

Who’s going to film of Nick plays drums? Santa Clause?

      • 182 FictionFan December 5, 2014 at 19:34

But the drummer is essential to successful jazz! It just wouldn’t be the same without those brushy swishy things! ;)

You’ll just have to do both…

      • 183 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:01

        Oh, you’re so mean, Nick.

      • 184 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member December 6, 2014 at 03:08

That’s why it doesn’t pay to be able to do more than one thing sometimes… (Just brushes will do…)

      • 185 FictionFan December 7, 2014 at 17:35

That wicked Professor takes advantage of your good nature… *stands back and waits for fight to begin*

      • 186 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:46

I shall control my killing instincts.

      • 187 FictionFan December 8, 2014 at 17:01

Oh, you two are such spoilsports! I’d brought popcorn and bandages and everything too… *sad face*

      • 188 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 21:12

Sometimes I wonder if you want to see me die. You should have seen me on the plains of Troy the day I lost my heart!

      • 189 FictionFan December 9, 2014 at 16:07

I wish I had – the Professor in a skirt! Oh, be still, my beating heart!

      • 190 Professor VJ Duke December 9, 2014 at 21:46

*laughs* Remember, the professor is old and has a gray beard. With…dreadlocks!

      • 191 FictionFan December 10, 2014 at 01:07

And a sweet little kiss-curl… *gazes mistily into the night sky*

      • 192 Professor VJ Duke December 10, 2014 at 15:13

*bangs head on desk* Remember what it says in the professor book about kissing…

      • 193 FictionFan December 10, 2014 at 16:39

        Dadblamed book! *stomps off*

      • 194 Professor VJ Duke December 10, 2014 at 20:47

        *laughs happily*

      • 195 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member December 7, 2014 at 23:31

We fight on twitter often enough… I’ll not here.

  17. 196 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member December 3, 2014 at 16:40

Ah, yes. There he is, fighting with himself. Reminds me of someone else I know.

    • 197 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:54

Who doth it remind thee of?

      • 198 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member December 4, 2014 at 19:24

        You always fight yourself, right?

      • 199 FictionFan December 4, 2014 at 22:37

        But does he win?

      • 200 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 19:48

        No, you do!

      • 201 FictionFan December 7, 2014 at 17:31

        Who, me? Awwww…

      • 202 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:46

        It’s safer that way!

      • 203 FictionFan December 8, 2014 at 16:59

        *chuckles*

      • 204 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member December 6, 2014 at 19:47

Sometimes…the fight never ends. It’s kind of scary.

  18. 205 InfiniteZip December 3, 2014 at 16:35

    Cloning is cool….

    • 206 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:54

      Even for an army?

      • 207 InfiniteZip December 5, 2014 at 10:46

Just not an army of ants….

      • 208 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 20:06

        Don’t you like fire ants?

      • 209 InfiniteZip December 7, 2014 at 13:19

        Noooooo…hurts….

      • 210 Professor VJ Duke December 8, 2014 at 14:38

        I’ve never met one.

  19. 211 PorterGirl December 3, 2014 at 16:04

WOW!! That is beyond impressive. Seriously awesome. And what a nice hair cut the young guitarist chap has. You may not approve of his cloning habits, but I approve of his marvellous talent and nice hair. Bravo!

    • 212 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:53

*laughs* Nice hair?! Nah! Bet it’s a wig!!!

      • 213 PorterGirl December 4, 2014 at 20:10

*laughs* I would fall off my chair with delight if it is a wig!!

      • 214 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 19:51

        *laughing lots* It’s not! Promise.

  20. 215 Angeline M December 3, 2014 at 16:00

I must say I liked listening with my coffee this rainy morning. And cloning isn’t so bad in this case I think.

    • 216 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:52

Yes, he did pull the cloning off rather well, didn’t he? Who do you suppose won the war?

  21. 217 sonmicloud December 3, 2014 at 15:54

He must be beside himself hearing you say that *winks*

    – sonmi upon the Cloud

    • 218 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 18:50

Do you think I’ve made him cranky now?

      • 219 sonmicloud December 4, 2014 at 19:10

I’d lie low for a while if I were you. Just to be sure. And sharpen your blade too.

        – sonmi upon the Cloud

      • 220 Professor VJ Duke December 4, 2014 at 19:16

        Will he attack?

      • 221 sonmicloud December 4, 2014 at 19:17

        Would you like him to?

        – sonmi upon the Cloud

      • 222 Professor VJ Duke December 6, 2014 at 19:48

        Of course not!
