The Professor is a Warrior

In truth, it’s true: the professor is a warrior.

And, of course, warriors are hunted–by spies, terrorists, evil scientists, marksmen, arrow-men, and knife-men.

That’s why the professor keeps a bunch of vicious hounds.

Rommel

Freya

These two are the leaders of my vicious, protecting pack.

In truth, that’s probably true.

Now, I should admit something, I think:

I use these weapons on the field of battle regularly, even though I’m not on the field of battle regularly.

That’s all!

      • 8 Professor VJ Duke January 29, 2015 at 22:05

        They’d love it!

      • 9 erinkenobi2893 January 30, 2015 at 13:23

I think I will then! *makes pie and cookies*

      • 10 Professor VJ Duke January 30, 2015 at 21:50

        Many thanks from them!

  2. 12 Heena Rathore P. January 18, 2015 at 13:02

OMG! They are beautiful, specially Freya! :)

    • 13 Professor VJ Duke January 19, 2015 at 03:47

Thanks so much! A bit vicious looking too? *hopeful*

      • 14 Heena Rathore P. January 19, 2015 at 04:00

        Heheh! Yea, a bit…;)
I’m a huge admirer of GSDs… I had one myself and I’m planning to get one in 6 months or so… I’m gonna name him Zeus (almighty!)… *super excited*

      • 15 Professor VJ Duke January 19, 2015 at 21:19

Such a cool name! Will he be all black?

      • 16 Heena Rathore P. January 20, 2015 at 06:10

Thanks… I wish! Black and white GSDs are a rarity here :(
I’ll be on the lookout for light brown with black muzzle and and ahort hair… If by chance I’ll get a black one, I’ll get him right away 😊

      • 17 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2015 at 13:09

That’s super cool! So…there are white ones? That really neatio.

      • 18 Heena Rathore P. January 20, 2015 at 17:40

Nah! Whites are also rare! But I’ll try to find one! *grinning*

      • 19 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2015 at 21:21

Absolutely! And takes some pics for the professor, please!

      • 20 Heena Rathore P. January 21, 2015 at 03:11

        Sure!

      • 21 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2015 at 14:17

        Thanks bunches!

      • 22 Heena Rathore P. January 21, 2015 at 14:28

        You’re welcome! *warm smiles*

      • 23 Professor VJ Duke January 21, 2015 at 21:34

Do you plan to maybe get two eventually?

  3. 24 Catherine January 13, 2015 at 02:51

What adorable vicious hounds! I do hope they do their job well.

    • 25 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 12:56

They do! They rip up all trying to attack me. That’s what I hope at least. I’ve had no evidence yet.

      • 26 Catherine January 17, 2015 at 21:47

*laughing* Perhaps it’s a good thing there’s no evidence…or maybe the professor is such a fierce warrior that his enemies don’t even try to intrude.

      • 27 Professor VJ Duke January 18, 2015 at 02:14

Yeah, not many people come for a visit, dadblameit. Oh well. I’m just scary!

      • 28 Catherine January 20, 2015 at 03:48

Do the hounds have a place they could go when you invite people over? Because that might solve that problem!

      • 29 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2015 at 13:07

They actually do! And they have a great big yard to play in.

      • 30 Catherine January 22, 2015 at 02:25

Oh, goody. Then they can’t bother guests.

      • 31 Professor VJ Duke January 23, 2015 at 02:35

        Well, they try.

  4. 32 The Lite Rider January 9, 2015 at 21:08

Awww, sweet protectors! Love this, Professor. Btw, I like that extra thick long knife. Why I don’t know. Looks evil, and like it would inflict a lot of damage! Don’t ever let DS get a hold of it!!

    • 33 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 00:09

Thank you, LR! It sure would. And you’re right. Could you imagine if DS found my stash of weapons?

  5. 34 janeybgood January 9, 2015 at 16:31

    *Backs away slowly* n-nice Professor…

Did you call Rommel that name because Rommel was the “Desert Fox” and he looks quite foxy?

    • 35 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 00:02

Haha! *triumphant laugh* I’m such a vicious warrior.

Yes! But…umm…what is foxy exactly? The professor isn’t sure.

      • 36 janeybgood January 10, 2015 at 14:28

I possibly should have said fox-esque, or in the style of a fox.

      • 37 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 21:09

Aha! I think it’s the ears that do it. I should get a fox… *dreams about it*

  6. 38 walt walker January 9, 2015 at 13:29

Of the men or the beasts?

    • 39 walt walker January 9, 2015 at 13:33

Oops! This comment landed in the wrong thread. Many sorries!

      • 40 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 23:56

*laughs* I think you should be fined!

    • 41 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 23:56

Umm…well, which would you like? I feel like I’m shoving you into things.

      • 42 walt walker January 10, 2015 at 00:25

Not at all! It’s just that the men can be unruly, and the beasts, well, they don’t smell very good. And whichever you choose, I would be left with the other. The men are Visigoths, if that helps.

      • 43 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 21:05

Visigoths? *almost gets scared* Walt! Do they listen to you at all? *doubts it*

      • 44 walt walker January 10, 2015 at 21:41

No one listens to me. Not my wife, not my kids, and certainly not the Visigoths.

      • 45 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:43

*laughing too, too much* Well, then, it must not be safe to bring them to the fortress.

      • 46 walt walker January 11, 2015 at 19:47

Okay, then it’s back to my original plan: Attack.

        I’m bringing the sub, too.

      • 47 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:54

        But…but…but…I’m in there!

      • 48 walt walker January 11, 2015 at 20:01

Oh! I thought it was empty.

      • 49 Professor VJ Duke January 12, 2015 at 20:01

Of course, I suppose I Could step out for a minute.

      • 50 walt walker January 12, 2015 at 22:08

Or I could attack another day.

      • 51 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 12:52

That’s true. But I usually like to be ready. Or know when it’s coming.

      • 52 walt walker January 13, 2015 at 13:16

Okay, I usually attack either in the a.m or p.m on a weekday or a weekend.

      • 53 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 22:18

Wow. That just excluded the holidays. (I bet you sleep in on holidays.)

  7. 54 Fatina96 January 9, 2015 at 08:29

    the dogs though *_*
and really? am i really following a scientist with bad guys after him lol?

    • 55 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:59

      Do they look scary?

Well… *nods* Don’t you think I could be hunted?

      • 56 Fatina96 January 9, 2015 at 15:31

        aah noo! they’re marvelous!
you sound much too umm, childish for that. no wait, maybe childish is’nt the word.
        kind maybe?
in any case, no. I dont think it works that way :p

      • 57 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 23:59

Rats and a Heifer! I want to be a fugitive the sudden. The professor is over 95! I think.

      • 58 Fatina96 January 10, 2015 at 12:58

haha i did’nt mean no offense, and noo wayy! you cant be that old! your definitely a college student or so? :o

      • 59 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 21:08

*laughing* No offense taken! (Isn’t that a great way to curse? Rats and a Heifer. It’s just awesome sounding.)

Umm…do I have to answer that?

      • 60 Fatina96 January 10, 2015 at 21:46

hahaha yeah, now that you mention it, it does sound good. ;p
        yes, i’m curious..!

      • 61 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:44

It is! I love it, I think.

        Well…make a guess!

      • 62 Fatina96 January 12, 2015 at 15:43

My guess is that your either in a uni or preparing to get into one… or something of the sort. :/

      • 63 Professor VJ Duke January 12, 2015 at 20:15

        What’s a uni?

      • 64 Fatina96 January 12, 2015 at 20:54

        short for university :p

      • 65 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 12:47

Well, okay! The professor is maybe around 20.

      • 66 Fatina96 January 13, 2015 at 17:36

wowhh!! I’m good at guessing games! University students are about that age… but why wont you give me an exact? are you worried i might think you old or..? :p

      • 67 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 22:36

You are. But…the professor is supposed to be a mysterious, enigma! And I’m older than the mountains. And you made me tell you already. *pouts*

  8. 68 Simply Skeptical January 9, 2015 at 00:10

They are soooo sweet looking! Hugs to them both. And what’s this???? Is Rommel yielding the weapon of protection on his paws!!! (Laughing)

    • 69 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:46

Thank you! He sure is. It’s a bomb, SS!

  9. 70 Debbie January 9, 2015 at 00:02

I think your “hounds” are perfectly lovely, and I’m certain they’re excited to have their pictures on the Interwebs. Dallas is, you know. In fact, he thinks it would be wonderful to have TWO doggies to play Chase with!

You don’t fly much, do you, Professor? I mean, one can’t take an arsenal like that aboard commercial aircraft. But maybe I’m overlooking your powers. I mean, with all those PL’ers out and about, surely somebody can ferry you — and your weapons — wherever you need to go!

Don’t you go disparaging Chopin, now. Yes, he might be challenging to transpose, but oh what beautiful piano music I remember playing!!

    • 71 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:46

I bet Dallas and the professorish dogs would be great, great friends. Freya might be a bit standoffish at first. But I’d tickler her ears and she’d be fine. I mean, that chase game does sound fun. I’m sure they’d love it.

Well….to be honest, the professor–when he travels–doesn’t take any of those awful weapons. My hands, you know, are lethal weapons! But you’re probably right. I could probably find someone to ferry me with them!

That’s so true. It’s so peaceful. But he could have been sweeter, dadblameit!

      • 72 Debbie January 11, 2015 at 17:03

You know, I think they would! Dallas like BIG doggies; the little, yappy ones get on his last nerve! He could teach them how to play Chase — he’s quite good at it now, but I’m certain he would be forgiving if it takes your hounds a little while to warm up to it!

Chopin isn’t supposed to be easy — neither is Mozart (ugh, all those notes!!)

      • 73 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:49

And it would take them time, I think. Especially Rommel! Yes, the little yappy ones bother the professor too. If they yap in my ear.

Good all Mozart. I think he tried to be brutal.

  10. 74 Louis from VA January 8, 2015 at 22:50

I must concur that the attack dogs are SO CUTE! :)
    And vicious, of course.
Who knew such people would be after a professor of such impeccable character.

    • 75 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:43

*laughs* I think you’re definitely right. Definitely. But they have sharp teeth!

Yes, quite right. Is it because of the secrets I hold, do you suppose?

      • 76 Louis from VA January 11, 2015 at 02:45

        Hmm… I wouldn’t know. They’re secret. :)

      • 77 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:48

        *laughs* Such a perfect reply.

      • 78 Louis from VA January 20, 2015 at 23:24

        *bows* :D

  11. 79 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 8, 2015 at 19:54

Geez, I think I have bacon in my pocket, for those two beauties. I am thrilled to see a picture of your pack leaders. Freya looks fed up with you…sweet girl and Rommel looks bored out of his mind, Duke. *smiles* Aww!!

You keep those instruments around for letter opening, right?

    • 80 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:18

*laughing* Freya does get fed up with me, and Rom was mad I was done playing with him, I think. I kept trying to get them to look at the camera. Such beasts!

      And for dismembering corpses.

      • 81 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 9, 2015 at 05:20

I think I can make that same face over something you’ve said…Freya and I would get along. She’d like Oscar, I bet. Rommel likes to play? He looks very serious about his playing. Do you have to wear a special suit to play with him? I would throw a frizbe, Duke. Maybe try taking a picture while they sleep.

Oh, shut up!….don’t try and spook me! *hides and changes her name*

      • 82 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:55

You wouldn’t make that face! Would you? *worries* You’d like Freya. And Rommel. Yes! *laughs* He can be rough. 90 pounds ramming you can knock you off your feet as well!

        I’ll still find you!

      • 83 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 9, 2015 at 15:51

No…you know me too well. You never worry, Sir. I have no doubt about that, they seem sweet. So he wears you out! Nice!

        I’m pretty good at hiding.

      • 84 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 23:59

He does. When I get to take him out. Poor bloke. His teeth are sharp, too.

        I’m horrible at searching.

      • 85 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 10, 2015 at 15:33

I am sure they require a ton of exercise, which is hard to keep up, I know. Sharp teeth…as sharp as yours? That sounded a bit red riding hoodish.. *laughs*

You make a terrible scary guy, Duke.

      • 86 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 21:10

*laughs* It does! Umm…my teeth are dull–like my brain.

I know! *looks embarrassed* I just can’t do it.

      • 87 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 11, 2015 at 02:30

Your brain is not dull. Never say that to me, Duke. *protects your brain *

What do you use all those sharp things for?

      • 88 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:45

I might lose it one day…

        They’re like toys, huh?

      • 89 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 12, 2015 at 02:25

        I’ll lose mine, too.

Doubtful…well, if you ever threw them, I suppose.

      • 90 Professor VJ Duke January 12, 2015 at 20:03

        Bet not.

I have thrown some of them. I suppose I’m something of a collector!

      • 91 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 13, 2015 at 01:18

Don’t we all lose our minds at some point? Yes…so I shall lose it eventually. No stopping it.

Yeah…I think that’s what I’d call you, too.

      • 92 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 12:55

Well, I’m not sure about that. Writing (especially poetry) keeps brain cells intact.

*nods* Which is cool, mind you!

      • 93 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 13, 2015 at 16:29

I want you to write poetry. I want to read your poetry, I mean. You should send me some, I think. I want to practice responding to it.

        Yes, you’re cool, Duke. Always.

      • 94 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 22:32

Really? But what would I write about?

        As are you, madam. *bows*

      • 95 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 14, 2015 at 02:40

Yes, really, we need to keep your brain cells about, right? Anything you want…*just erased loads of options*

        Aww. Thanks.

      • 96 Professor VJ Duke January 14, 2015 at 13:00

Hey! I have more options than you think possible!

      • 97 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 14, 2015 at 21:19

You wouldn’t write a poem anyway. *whispers* What are they?

      • 98 Professor VJ Duke January 15, 2015 at 01:29

Hmm…now it’s a challenge, isn’t it? That might make me do it. Can’t tell!

      • 99 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 15, 2015 at 03:34

It can be, if you’re considering it. You just normally turn me down, so I was giving you your out, Mr. I Don’t Write Poetry. Oh, tell me!

      • 100 Professor VJ Duke January 15, 2015 at 18:43

        Won’t!

Well, should I write something or not?

      • 101 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 15, 2015 at 20:56

        Okay.

Yes, I want you to write a poem. It is time, Duke.

      • 102 Professor VJ Duke January 16, 2015 at 02:39

Would you give me a topic?

      • 103 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 16, 2015 at 05:20

No, I don’t think I would. I’m prepared to see a poem about a hotdog or shrub, and for the record I will ignore such dadblamery. You are welcome to ignore my asking and go about your day, you know. Maybe I was wrong to suggest it..

      • 104 Professor VJ Duke January 17, 2015 at 02:00

What?! You mean you wouldn’t read a poem about a shrub or hotdog? What must it be about, then?

      • 105 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 17, 2015 at 03:59

I would read a poem about either of those! I just don’t want you writing about them for this. You’re the one with all the ideas, Sir. No must…just if you wanted is all. Maybe another time.

      • 106 Professor VJ Duke January 18, 2015 at 01:53

Fair enough. But you must needs give me a topic! And I’ll do it.

      • 107 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 19, 2015 at 04:33

Are you always this hard to work with, Mister? Expectations. ..A month later and I’m not sure I wanna play anymore.

      • 108 Professor VJ Duke January 19, 2015 at 21:21

Okay…so the topic is Expectations, then?

      • 109 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 20, 2015 at 01:42

*smiles* I’m out of words right now. You’re off the hook.

      • 110 Professor VJ Duke January 20, 2015 at 13:01

Okay, if you say so. But I was willing.

      • 111 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister January 20, 2015 at 16:33

        *smiles*

  12. 112 sonmi upon the Cloud January 8, 2015 at 17:14

The hounds are beautiful. And I’m impressed with your arsenal too (not arse just to clear that up, I have no idea how impressive or not your bum is). I like the axe best.

    – sonmi upon the Cloudy

    • 113 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:17

*laughing* You know, you’re so wicked, Sonmi! You know that, right?

      • 114 sonmi upon the Cloud January 8, 2015 at 23:01

I have no idea what you mean Professor. *whistles innocently and then laughs a lot*

        – sonmi lgrinning upon the Cloud

      • 115 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:43

I’m going to shoot your cloud!

A serial Cloud killer! I knew it!

Luckily the Cloud cannot be shot. It isn’t keen on raisins though, so maybe you could try throwing some it it.

        – sonmi sleeping with one eye open upon the Cloud

      • 117 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 13:02

*Gets a bunch of raisins* I’m going to throw some now!

  13. 118 InfiniteZip January 8, 2015 at 17:04

Viscous hounds…and all those weapons , but where pray tell is the katana??? Are you a scary warrior sir?

    • 119 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:16

I didn’t include it. I thought it might make you faint! Yes, I am. Don’t you think so?

      • 120 InfiniteZip January 10, 2015 at 01:19

Quite the virile gentleman then, huh? Am impressed…maybe it’s the mustache, the unicorn tells me it rocks.

      • 121 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 21:06

Have you seen it? *brushes it with tweezers*

      • 122 InfiniteZip January 11, 2015 at 13:27

Only saw it on the drawing of you, tweezers, huh? I only use that to pluck out te one white eyebrow hair i grew….now that was brutal.

      • 123 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:48

I’m sure! Did you cry after?

      • 124 InfiniteZip January 11, 2015 at 23:03

Only over the fact there was a white hair😞

      • 125 Professor VJ Duke January 12, 2015 at 20:03

        White hair is nice, Zippy!

      • 126 InfiniteZip January 12, 2015 at 21:03

Not one big one in an eyebrow filled, with brown they’re not!

      • 127 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 12:49

Oh, you’re giving it a bad rap, Zippy!

      • 128 InfiniteZip January 13, 2015 at 16:40

They’re ok on the unicorn, not on a “says laughing” young lady!

      • 129 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 22:33

*nods* Well…but…what about the snow queen! She had white hair, and she was young!

      • 130 InfiniteZip January 14, 2015 at 10:18

Hmmm, you always make the most valid point jump out of the mix. Yes I would say.

      • 131 Professor VJ Duke January 14, 2015 at 13:02

        There you are, then!

  14. 132 walt walker January 8, 2015 at 15:56

All of this is quite frightening. But your house looks lovely.

    • 133 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:09

So, you mean you wouldn’t come up unannounced then? *bows* Thank you! I do appreciate it.

      • 134 walt walker January 8, 2015 at 22:17

I would announce my arrival with a cannonade across your broadside. I would follow that up with a list of ultimatums. Then I would lay siege.

      • 135 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:21

*laughing* Wow. I’d be toast. Hey, Walt, do you suppose it’s possible for you to defend my keep?

      • 136 walt walker January 9, 2015 at 00:04

Well…I suppose so. But attacking is more pleasant. Perhaps I could use your keep as more of a base of operations from which I might send out man and beast to slay the enemy hordes?

      • 137 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:46

*thinks about it* Would I be the leader?

  15. 138 L. Marie January 8, 2015 at 15:23

Is it wrong to comment on how attractive the vicious hounds are? Perhaps I should say they look appropriately vicious. But in those photos they just look too sweet. Perhaps that’s how they deceive people? They look sweet, but then they’ll have your leg off within the next second?

Quite the arsenal you have. With relatives like Smiles Riot and people like Daddy Salami around, I guess you have to be prepared, huh?

    • 139 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:08

*laughing lots* Rats and a Heifer, Linda! You’re not supposed to see through that! But you’re absolutely right. Their sweet pooches. Hey! Maybe it is just a deception thing. You know, the more I think about, I know that’s what it is!

*nods* Yes, you never know when the attack is coming, but it always is!

      • 140 L. Marie January 9, 2015 at 15:23

I need to carry my throwing knife around or at least get a sweet looking but vicious dog.

      • 141 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 23:57

Definitely! And I think you should post about your knife…

  16. 142 Susan P January 8, 2015 at 15:04

Forsooth, Professor! Take heed, for thy enemies be many and they all carry the battleax. Hark for the sound of the trumpet and the battle.

    • 143 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:07

*laughs* But from which direction do they gallop?

      • 144 Susan P January 8, 2015 at 22:33

        From Mordor.

      • 145 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:42

        *gulps* Help me, Susan!

      • 146 Susan P January 9, 2015 at 23:41

        Don’t pick up the ring…

      • 147 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 00:10

My ring! He’s after it, isn’t he?

      • 148 Susan P January 10, 2015 at 11:55

Put the ring down and walk away…

      • 149 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 21:08

        But…it gives one power!

      • 150 Susan P January 10, 2015 at 21:20

With power like that you have a good chance waking up dead in the morning.

      • 151 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:42

Which is okay. Since I’ll be disappeared!

      • 152 Susan P January 11, 2015 at 21:14

But what if reincarnation is for reals and you come back as Daddy Salami?

      • 153 Professor VJ Duke January 12, 2015 at 20:02

*gulp* Would you try to kill me?

      • 154 Susan P January 12, 2015 at 21:21

Never. It would never cross my mind. Did someone try to kill you?

      • 155 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 12:50

You know that always happens. Remember I’m like an agent of sorts.

      • 156 Susan P January 13, 2015 at 13:06

Good heavens! You need a body guard. Maybe you should talk to Ruber.

      • 157 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 22:17

Do you think he’d body guard me?

      • 158 Susan P January 14, 2015 at 00:02

I’m sure he would…for a fee. And you might actually get back home in one piece. Maybe.

      • 159 Professor VJ Duke January 14, 2015 at 12:54

You’re right: tis worth it. *counts money in piggy bank*

      • 160 Susan P January 14, 2015 at 13:12

Do you have enough for that and also for someone to watch your back?

      • 161 Professor VJ Duke January 15, 2015 at 01:13

Probably not. Alas. Would he take worms?

      • 162 Susan P January 15, 2015 at 02:43

        As in dragons?

      • 163 Professor VJ Duke January 15, 2015 at 18:41

        Worms don’t have wings!

      • 164 Susan P January 15, 2015 at 19:18

        Dragons are also called Worms.

      • 165 Professor VJ Duke January 16, 2015 at 02:33

        Really? A wonder.

      • 166 Susan P January 16, 2015 at 22:01

You didn’t take Dragons 101? Gasp. I am appalled.

      • 167 Professor VJ Duke January 17, 2015 at 02:17

*lowers head in embarrassment* I know…

      • 168 Susan P January 17, 2015 at 13:33

        Well, it’s never too late.

      • 169 Professor VJ Duke January 18, 2015 at 01:59

Could you teach me? It’d be cool if you taught some of the PL’ers.

      • 170 Susan P January 29, 2015 at 14:45

I would be honored to so do.

      • 171 Professor VJ Duke January 29, 2015 at 21:52

        Now that is tops.

      • 172 Susan P January 29, 2015 at 23:44

Maybe we can work that into a story…

      • 173 Professor VJ Duke January 30, 2015 at 21:17

*laughs* Sure! I think Schwarz would love that sort of thing.

      • 174 Susan P January 31, 2015 at 00:18

Okay – I will see what comes out.

      • 175 Professor VJ Duke February 1, 2015 at 19:39

        Dear me great!

      • 176 Susan P February 1, 2015 at 21:48

        What if Schwarz won’t?

      • 177 Professor VJ Duke February 2, 2015 at 22:36

        That’s probably likely.

      • 178 Susan P February 2, 2015 at 23:49

        We will drag him along.

      • 179 Professor VJ Duke February 3, 2015 at 19:16

        *nods*

  17. 180 FictionFan January 8, 2015 at 14:24

Vicious hounds, forsooth! I bet they’re big softies when they get their tummies tickled! In fact, not only are they cute and adorable, but they are most definitely fluffy! Hmm…reminds me of someone…

I don’t believe that being a warrior is hard – not for someone as heroic as the Professor! Unless you meet an opponent with a peashooter of course. Or a blancmange.

    • 181 L. Marie January 8, 2015 at 15:24

Your comment made me laugh out loud!

      • 182 FictionFan January 8, 2015 at 17:39

        Haha! Thank you! *curtseys*

    • 183 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:06

Well, I should maybe admit that Freya does love tummy rubs. Rats. You’re not supposed to see through things. Who? Oh right, Darby.

Good point! What do you suppose I should use in defense against peashooters and blancmange?

      • 184 FictionFan January 9, 2015 at 02:27

Aha! I knew it! Isn’t it interesting that I say tickles and you say rubs? Well, I was really think of the Professor, but I admit that he and Darby are very alike…

I don’t think there is a real defence (please note correct spelling), but you could ask Harry Potter for a loan of his invisibility cloak.

      • 185 Professor VJ Duke January 9, 2015 at 12:48

*laughs* It is…rubs are vigorous manly things! Tickles now…are…girly! I’m not neither like Darby! Def not. Def not.

Who’s Harry Potter? I don’t know no fool named Harry Potter. Bet BUS doesn’t either! I’m thinking that ‘defence’ is a weaker version of ‘defense.’ When I was at Troy, we “defensed.”

      • 186 FictionFan January 9, 2015 at 18:01

*laughs* Yes, but I bet she enjoys tickles and rubs equally! Tchah! Once you’ve learned to dance the cotillion, you’ll be almost identical…

BUS loves HP – so there! Hmm…that worked well then. Perhaps you should have “defenced”…

      • 187 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 00:06

Well, I’ve never tickled her! Well, maybe her feet. I think she likes that. You know, two years ago I didn’t even know what the cotillion was?

*mouth drops open* BUS?! How could she does this to me! Does WOB?

      • 188 FictionFan January 10, 2015 at 17:11

Awwww! Such a sweet image! *chuckles* Bet you’re glad you do now…

Nah, WOB only reads dead intellectual stuff – usually written by dead intellectuals. But BUS has more sensible tastes – like me!

      • 189 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 21:13

It is not! She hates it! I’m…semi-glad. There.

*laughs* Good for WOB! (Though I don’t think I’d read what he reads either.) Is BUS older than WOB?

      • 190 FictionFan January 11, 2015 at 17:52

I bet she doesn’t! I bet she rolls over on her back and makes that whiny noise dogs make when they’re being big softies! Aha! Another two years and you’ll be totally glad…

BUS is older than everybody in the whole world! WOB’s only a couple of years older than me – though of course I look much, much younger than him…

      • 191 Professor VJ Duke January 11, 2015 at 19:51

*laughs* But you can’t be sure, since you never had a dog! 2 years? Maybe 60.

*nods and laughs lots* Poor BUS. She must be wise, then. And I’m older than she is. (Bet WOB doesn’t dye his hair!)

      • 192 FictionFan January 12, 2015 at 13:32

Yes, I did! My lovely poodle when I was young…er. The bestest dog that ever, ever was! But in 60 years I’ll be… *adds up quickly without a calculator*… 21! But you’ll be 144 – it’s just possible your knees won’t be up to dancing…

She’s very wise! Does that mean you are too? (*chuckles* If he does, he doesn’t tell me…)

      • 193 Professor VJ Duke January 12, 2015 at 20:10

That’s right! I remember. Now that’s a perfect lady dog. True! Well, maybe, we should play chess instead.

Wait! But she likes HP… The professor? Nah. Just dull. (He probably doesn’t trust you!)

      • 194 FictionFan January 12, 2015 at 21:48

My Sandy used to fight big dogs…and win! Nope, you don’t get out of it that way, sir…

      • 195 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 12:51

The world is so unfair to me. Was Sandy a girl?

      • 196 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 12:51

The world is so unfair to me. Was Sandy a girl?

      • 197 FictionFan January 13, 2015 at 14:59

Yeah, but you deserve it! No! A boy – a true warrior!!

      • 198 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 22:28

You named a boy dog Sandy?! *makes a weird face*

      • 199 FictionFan January 14, 2015 at 00:24

*growls as ferociously as Sandy* Sandy is a boy’s name, I’ll have you know! It’s short for Alexander! (So sorry about your weird face – hope it gets better soon.)

      • 200 Professor VJ Duke January 14, 2015 at 12:58

*laughs* The weird face was for…style!

        Short for Alexander? Poor creature.

      • 201 FictionFan January 14, 2015 at 15:36

        *relieved face*

Don’t you be rude about my dog or I’ll… I’ll… well, let’s just say you’d better stock up on painkillers! *sharpens heels on flamenco shoes*

      • 202 Professor VJ Duke January 15, 2015 at 01:25

*laughing lots* Maybe BUS named it?

      • 203 FictionFan January 15, 2015 at 17:22

Him! Not “it”! And no – (didn’t I tell you this once before? I’m having a feeling of deja vu) – my Dad did, because I wanted to call him Bucephalus and WOB wanted to call him Hercules. Neither of which my Dad felt was quite suitable for a poodle…

      • 204 Professor VJ Duke January 15, 2015 at 19:03

*Laughing* You did! I’m just seeing if the story stays the same. Bucephalus. You can call me that.

      • 205 FictionFan January 16, 2015 at 01:45

Huh! I think I shall call you Muad’Dib…

      • 206 Professor VJ Duke January 16, 2015 at 02:52

        What in tarnation is that?

      • 207 FictionFan January 16, 2015 at 17:30

*laughs* ‘Tis the hero’s name in Dune…

      • 208 Professor VJ Duke January 17, 2015 at 02:13

        Oh crap. Is he Mexican?

      • 209 FictionFan January 17, 2015 at 17:11

*laughs and laughs* Mexican?? The Professorial mind is a wondrous thing – I wonder if I shall ever understand it?

      • 210 Professor VJ Duke January 18, 2015 at 02:11

*sigh of relief* Wait. So he’s not Mexican!

      • 211 FictionFan January 18, 2015 at 16:24

“Do not be deceived by the fact that he was born on Caladan and lived his first fifteen years there. Arrakis, the planet known as Dune, is forever his place…”

      • 212 Professor VJ Duke January 19, 2015 at 03:51

Sounds like a high priest of some sort.

      • 213 FictionFan January 19, 2015 at 16:33

You’ll need to read it to find out…

      • 214 Professor VJ Duke January 19, 2015 at 21:30

        Will do!

  18. 215 Julie Harris January 8, 2015 at 14:09

You are well prepared for battle! I bet Rommel is a sweet one!!

    • 216 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 21:58

I sure am! *smiles proudly* He is. Funny you should say that!

  19. 217 Hazy January 8, 2015 at 13:48

Rommel is adorable! So is Freya. But Rommel seems nicer than Freya… is he?

Pretty impressive weapons collection ya got there (and Weatherly agrees). The ax looks cool. What kind of knife is that one in the middle? It looks nice! But I think your katana is the best.

I only carry a pair of medium-sized scissors in my bag *laughs*

    • 218 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 21:55

Thanks, Hazy! He is sweeter, yes. Freya can be vicious. I mean, she’s sweet too…but you’re right!

That knife in the middle is my very fav knife. It’s a ka-bar! Cool looking, huh? I do, too. That beast is so long–and gruesome!

*laughs* That’s a great weapon! These bigger ones aren’t as hide-able.

      • 219 Hazy January 10, 2015 at 17:14

Who’s more of “the leader,” Freya or Rommel?

The ka-bar has a black blade? Very cool indeed. Is that a retractable baton beneath the ka-bar?

*laughs* Yeah, but you know, they made me check-in the scissors when I went into a fancy high-end mall. Such a hassle!

      • 220 Professor VJ Duke January 10, 2015 at 21:14

Freya! I think because she’s older. She treats him like her puppy. It’s sorta funny.

It sure does! (I got it black.) Yes! It’s a pretty good length too. Wow, Hazy! You’re good at identifying weapons!

Did they really? What’d Weatherly think?

      • 221 Hazy January 13, 2015 at 13:36

That sounds adorable! Rommel’s probably like “leave me alone, will you Mom… I mean Freya!”

Can you throw knives? With considerable accuracy, I mean. I think the baton is interesting! it looks like a cool thing to defend oneself with. (though I’m quite likely to hit myself while brandishing it about)

They did! Buggers. And they didn’t notice Weatherly! He was very stealthy.

      • 222 Professor VJ Duke January 13, 2015 at 22:22

*laughs* That’s it exactly! It gets vicious sometimes for sure.

Well, when I was practicing I got about 9/10…so…somewhat? Nah, you’d do fine! *laughs* I think you’d look smart with one.

        He’s amazing. Truly.

      • 223 Hazy January 18, 2015 at 04:59

9/10? That’s amazing! I wonder if there’s a retractable baton around here somewhere. Do you reckon pepper spray would be a better choice?

Weatherly is flattered. See, he’s blushing. sort of. *laughs*

      • 224 Professor VJ Duke January 19, 2015 at 03:42

Pepper spray is awesome! Definitely get some if you’re in dangerous places at times. Could put an attacker on the ground!

*laughs* It looks good on him.

  20. 225 PorterGirl January 8, 2015 at 12:32

Ahahaha!! I am simply delighted to see Rommel! And, of course, the lovely Freya. They are indeed such vicious hounds. You must feel very safe with them around. What is that Rommel has in his paw? A deadly raygun or some canine throwing weapon? *Is impressed*

I like your weapons, my favourite is the axe. What is the tube-y thing by the bottom of the axe? It looks like it could be an extendable baton of some kind. Or… a killer pocket umbrella!

    (Transposing Chopin is hard, indeed)

    • 226 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 13:22

*laughs* That, madam, is his secret bomb! Of course, it’s been disguised to appear as a…umm…to appear…well, as something a dog might like. (Not sure what it is, in truth.) They save me from bears as well.

It is a baton! The one you have to train me on. I fear I’m rather awkward with it. Just a bit, mind you. Just a bit.

(It sure is! Have you done it? *dies trying*)

      • 227 PorterGirl January 8, 2015 at 14:22

*laughs* ‘madam! I like that. It’s not very often I get called that. Well, it’s a very lovely secret bomb, whatever it might be disguised as. Glad to hear about the bear-defending skills, that’s very impressive.

Aha! I thought it was. I will gladly train you. We can do baton lessons, then go to a party. I imagine you are pretty excellent with a baton, anyway.

(No! But I have a friend who is a chapel organist and he does lots of transposing. He complains about Chopin, too. Please don’t die…)

      • 228 Professor VJ Duke January 8, 2015 at 22:05

It suits you fine, I’d say! It is such a scary bomb, in truth. I’m never sure if it’s “on”.

I don’t do much with it, in truth. I’d like to learn all the attacks! *imagines killing things*

(*laughs* A wonder! Someone should dig Chopin up and beat him with something! A baton!)

*laughs so much snorting noises come out* You make me laugh so much, Professor! With bombs and batons and killing things, you are certainly the perfect gentleman. Especially with your attack hounds.

(*Finds a large shovel and draws baton*)

*laughs too* All gentleman have to be a bit violent, I think. Just a bit!

        *starts digging*

As the old saying goes – ‘violence is golden’. Oh, no – wait…

        Teeheehee…
