Pachelbel’s Canon Meets Classical/Pop Guitar

So, the professor doesn’t usually post on Friday, but I decided to do so today. You see, I came across this fellow, and I like when classical musicians get ripped!

FANTASTIC! This has been played at several weddings I’ve been to as the bride walks down the aisle…..I smile to think what your version would look like at a wedding. Those brides would hip hop down the aisle; I can see it now. So much fun and happiness!

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:24

*laughing* Thanks so much, Angeline! IT would be something to see. I can see the brides dancing. Don’t you think the brides should dance down the aisle instead of walk?

      • 3 Angeline M March 30, 2015 at 15:29

Depends on who the groom is :)

      • 4 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 19:58

        Darby!

  2. 5 Simply Skeptical March 27, 2015 at 23:55

Thank you for these treats. I feel I shall watch them over & over again. You make the difficult look easy. Never stop making them. Hope to see more of the gentleman in the audience. A dedicated fan no doubt. giggles..

    • 6 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:21

Many thanks! *bows and his hat falls off* Oh, it’s not that hard…you could do it!

  3. 7 Susan P March 27, 2015 at 23:32

Ahh–you left the best for the end of the week. It made me smile bigly. Enjoyed it immensely. And Biggly. Just what I needed.

    • 8 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:20

*smiles* Well, many thanks, Susan! Wasn’t it something: him falling off the chair?

      • 9 Susan P March 28, 2015 at 16:03

        Was it contrived?

      • 10 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:16

        I don’t think so…didn’t he seem surprised?

      • 11 Susan P March 29, 2015 at 20:45

I think he was trying to hold back a guffaw.

      • 12 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:12

He was probably shocked. Poor bloke. You should’ve warned him that he was close to falling.

      • 13 Susan P March 30, 2015 at 13:45

I tried, but he paid no attention what I said. It happens a lot, mind you, but I don’t want it bruited around that I didn’t care. Dadblameit! People don’t pay attention and then they blame it on me. *stomps away muttering*

      • 14 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 19:46

*laughing lots* Well…you should have hollered from the mountaintops!

      • 15 Susan P March 30, 2015 at 20:34

But…this is Florida. We don’t have mountains.

      • 16 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 11:43

That’s a very good point. I’ll lend you one.

      • 17 Susan P March 31, 2015 at 12:58

        What kind of mountain?

      • 18 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 22:03

        A beefy one–with rocks.

      • 19 Susan P March 31, 2015 at 22:40

        A rock like Dwayne Johnson?

      • 20 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2015 at 18:19

Vin Diesel beats him any day!

      • 21 Susan P April 1, 2015 at 21:07

Which of the two of you is a better baby sitter?

      • 22 Professor VJ Duke April 2, 2015 at 12:57

        Definitely Vin.

      • 23 Susan P April 2, 2015 at 13:10

Maybe he would give you lessons. What do you think?

      • 24 Professor VJ Duke April 3, 2015 at 12:45

Oh no, warriors don’t do that sort of thing.

      • 25 Susan P April 3, 2015 at 23:50

You sayin’ he is not a warrior?

      • 26 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2015 at 22:39

        Not in that movie!

      • 27 Susan P April 5, 2015 at 00:38

Obviously, you have not done much babysitting. ;)

      • 28 Professor VJ Duke April 6, 2015 at 20:32

        Never done none! *very proud*

      • 29 Susan P April 6, 2015 at 20:35

*giggling* That will come back and slap you on the face some day.

      • 30 Professor VJ Duke April 6, 2015 at 20:59

        Will not neither either!

      • 31 Susan P April 6, 2015 at 21:18

I am not going to argue with you. *giggles*

      • 32 Professor VJ Duke April 7, 2015 at 17:21

        *holds ears the sudden*

      • 33 Susan P April 7, 2015 at 17:54

*takes the time to tickle his nose with a feather*

      • 34 Professor VJ Duke April 8, 2015 at 12:13

        Hey now!

      • 35 Susan P April 8, 2015 at 13:27

I couldn’t resist. It was an ostrich feather. Actually, it was two feathers. The other one was a peacock feather. Quite appropriate, I think.

      • 36 Professor VJ Duke April 9, 2015 at 12:00

        Bet they’re a bit dirty!

      • 37 Susan P April 9, 2015 at 16:25

O no. They are clean once you clean them.

  4. 38 Donna from MyOBT March 27, 2015 at 22:27

    Really enjoyed that!

    • 39 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:20

Thanks so much! I do really appreciate it.

  5. 40 The Lite Rider March 27, 2015 at 20:56

Really cool! This was awesome, I laughed too. GREAT guitar work there. :) :) Really very impressed. What talent! :)

    • 41 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:13

Many thanks, LR! I do appreciate it. Classical guitar rocks, see!

  6. 42 Julie Harris March 27, 2015 at 17:30

Love it!! Pachelbel’s cannon has always been a favorite of mine, and this one was spectacular!!

    • 43 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:05

Many thanks, Julie! I like it too. Something about that chord progression!

  7. 44 karengadient March 27, 2015 at 17:06

Fantastic! The bit of drumming on the guitar body really added some flair.

    • 45 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:05

Thanks! Guitars do make good drums at times, huh?

  8. 46 walt walker March 27, 2015 at 16:34

Well that was pretty good, right there.

    • 47 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:05

The best part: falling off the chair.

      • 48 walt walker March 28, 2015 at 14:17

My favorite was when he closed the laptop.

      • 49 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:23

        Wonder what he was watching…

      • 50 walt walker March 28, 2015 at 14:46

I thought it was a performance of yours from the future.

      • 51 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:14

*laughing* And I bet I’m a bit better in the future, too. No wonder he was upset at getting interrupted!

  9. 52 L. Marie March 27, 2015 at 14:33

Wowawee, that was quite lovely! So sad that the audience didn’t appreciate it. But I did. Manothunder! Now that’s how you bring the thunder!
Why is Pachelbel’s Canon played at weddings?

    • 53 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:04

*laughing* What a saying: that’s how you bring the thunder! I like that lots. Must add it, I fear.

That’s such a good question! I’m not sure.I suppose this version couldn’t be played at weddings?

Thanks so much for watching, Linda. I do appreciate it.

      • 54 L. Marie March 28, 2015 at 15:39

        I really enjoy the videos!

      • 55 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:14

        *bows and smiles bigly*

  10. 56 desertdweller29 March 27, 2015 at 14:10

You know how much I LOVE these videos! The Professor is a musical genius! Now I’m beginning to wonder if that tired chap in the audience is none other than the elusive Nick???! Can it be so? Did you see how sly he was ducking out? He’s a method actor I presume.

    • 57 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 27, 2015 at 19:11

What makes you think that’s me???

      • 58 desertdweller29 March 27, 2015 at 19:14

Don’t deny it Nicholas Warren–MPS staff member. I wasn’t the only one to make that assumption. You can’t fool the PLanders.

      • 59 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 27, 2015 at 20:31

        I deny it.

    • 60 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:03

Wasn’t that rude of him, though? I mean…imagine an audience rude enough for that. Then again, the chap playing was messing up all over the place. Wonder what judges would think if you did that performance…for them…

Aw, thanks, DD! Not a genius. I’m just a guitar player is all, promise.

      • 61 desertdweller29 March 29, 2015 at 03:09

I think this fellow’s rudeness initiated your befuddlement! I confronted Nick, you know, and he refuses to fess up and admit he was the fellow. You couldn’t see, I’m sure, because of the stage lights, but me thinks it was him. He looked a little like a narcoleptic Justin Timberlake.

      • 62 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:30

*laughing lots* I’m glad you spotted him, really. Doesn’t he get all cranky the sudden? I’m glad you put him in his place, DD. Send him some killer bees, too, if you’d like.

      • 63 desertdweller29 March 29, 2015 at 18:42

He DOES get cranky! I’ve just negotiated with the killer bees and they’re on their way. Nick, I hope you’re not allergic.

      • 64 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:05

*laughs* Me too. But, if you send about 80,000…that should fetch him.

      • 65 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 29, 2015 at 18:21

        Hpmh.

  11. 66 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 27, 2015 at 13:53

Your sense of humor shines in this video, Duketh. I’m a perpetual smiler now, because of you. This is brilliant and the best way to start my day. *sparkles* I sorta saw it coming, the empty hall, but only because I know you too well! I was delighted to be right and cheered for you the entire time. The man in the audience cracked me up. Loved it!! You play beautifully. Every bit perfect. You made my day. One of my favorites, by far!!

    • 67 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 13:58

*laughs* Gosh! You guessed the end? *high-five* I’m quite surprised by that, I must admit. (And cranky!) Thanks so much for even watching, Audith. Means a lot to me, for sure! Better than the guitar war?

      • 68 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 28, 2015 at 22:57

Why would you be surprised? I think I understand this person I’ve come to know fairly well. I figured that since you were waiting to be ripped you’d end it with that man leaving. Your facial expressions were hysterical. Sign of a great entertainer. (Why cranky?) “For even watching…” Seriously? Okay…any time, Duke. No, tisn’t better than the guitar war. Not near enough of your drumming on the handsome guitar for it to beat out guitar war. The song was gorgeous, you know. Written so well. *smiles* (You’ve reduced me to a groupie now that I’ve reread that portion. Thanks a lot. *rolls her eyes*)

      • 69 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:28

Aww!! Thanks, Audith–about the entertaining and stuff. One never knows for sure, see. You like the drumming? Me too! That’s the tops part, for sure. The drumming is just too fun as well. More drumming then! I’ll keep it in mind. (It’s hard to do with just one guitar, though.) (*laughing lots* I’m sorry?)

      • 70 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 29, 2015 at 20:12

*smiles* I love the drumming parts. I’m sorta mesmerized by them actually. Your quick hand movements are impressive. And I enjoy the sort of guitar music you have to incorporate drumming into, I guess. More drumming, if you want. No pressure from me. You’re the artist, Duketh. (You make it all look so easy, Guitar Wizard. Like I said, no pressure. Every song you’ve shared has been and will continue to be beautifully inspired.)
        (*blushes* I’m a fool.)

      • 71 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:11

Thanks, Audith. I like the drumming parts, too! It’s amazing to me that the guitar can become a drum at times. It’s sorta cool. No, I like your input! Do you know Deep Purple at all? (Guitar Wizard? *laughs* Aw! That’s sweet of you.) (Not at all. You won’t believe how much confidence you’ve given me by saying that. And I certainly need it, I think.)

      • 72 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 30, 2015 at 14:12

I have no idea who Deep Purple is, Duke. I had to look them up. How old are you? Gesh…they sound good, I think. Which one in particular? (I’m sweet. Always.) (I enjoy encouraging you. You deserve it. You should try to remember how great your skill is… it never escapes me.)

      • 73 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 19:52

No idea?! Goodness! You’d love them, Audith. Ritchie Blackmore is their guitarist…he’s the fastest I’ve ever heard. Rock guitarist, that is. I’m very old… Try…Pictures of Home or Smoke on the Water. (Well, that’s very kind of you…but all I see is so much room to improve.)

      • 74 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 30, 2015 at 21:48

I will have a listen and report back. The fastest, huh? How is it I’ve never heard of these people? And you have! Or you hang out with the very old… (We all use the same mirror, probably.)

      • 75 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 11:46

Definitely let me know what you think. I’m a big fan, I suppose. Or small. Or medium. The professor is old, remember. (We do, it seems)

      • 76 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 31, 2015 at 14:03

I listened to both of them, and you’re correct he is a great guitarist. I knew the Smoke song instantly from just being around…I never knew who sang it though. I’m a fan of that one. The other seems to be one you’ve mentioned before. It sounded familiar. Is your hair as long as his? *laughs* The professor is not old, but his music is.

      • 77 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 22:06

*laughing* Glad you dug it a bit! Nah, I keep my hair short. You know…! I know…I was introduced to a broad spectrum in music, you know.

      • 78 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 1, 2015 at 02:15

I don’t know anything! I can’t see. I was also privy to loads of different music genres. I think it’s great.

      • 79 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2015 at 18:24

It is great! Do you have a fav? I think I know what you will say.

      • 80 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 1, 2015 at 21:29

A fav? Jazz, but neither parent listened to it. I came about that all on my own. I like big hair band rock and country, as well. I’m also a fan of acoustic guitars, the sudden. Well not the sudden…but the sudden. *laughs*
Did you guess correctly? What’s yours?

      • 81 Professor VJ Duke April 2, 2015 at 12:59

Jazz?! I would never have guessed that. I would have guessed the rock bands from the ’80s. Isn’t acoustic guitar great? I love it lots, you know. Mine…I don’t know!

      • 82 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 2, 2015 at 19:42

I love rock bands from the 80s. Tis true. Yes, acoustic guitar is growing on me.

      • 83 Professor VJ Duke April 3, 2015 at 12:55

        Because of Tommy E!

      • 84 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister April 3, 2015 at 13:47

Sorta, yeah. I mean he is what started my interest, for sure. Thanks to you.

      • 85 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2015 at 22:26

        He’s good. Real good.

  12. 86 Debbie March 27, 2015 at 13:52

Professor, you’ve captured sooo many of my own fears here — nearly falling off your chair?!? — and I hope you’ve got them out of your system before this summer!

Canon in D always reminds me of a Chinese restaurant Domer and I used to frequent. Seems they played that way too often! Why am I wanting sweet and sour chicken the sudden?!?

Well played, dear Professor. And wasn’t that Nick in the audience? Hi, Nick, nice to meet you! Why’d you take off before the professor could take his final bow?!?

Lovely treat for a Friday, guys!

    • 87 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 27, 2015 at 19:12

There’s no evidence that that is me. None.

      • 88 Debbie March 27, 2015 at 20:58

Oh, dear, have I offended you?? If so, I’m truly sorry. I’d have thought it was nice helping the professor out the way you did. But you’re right, of course. No evidence at all that you were anywhere within 100 miles of this auditorium. There — feel better??! Whoever was in the audience exudes his own style of cuteness — so there!

      • 89 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 27, 2015 at 21:18

It’s actually *very* difficult to offend me, so no worries there… ;)

I’m sure that whoever is in the audience would not like being called cute though. Certain of it,.

    • 90 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 13:56

*laughing* I hope so too! Yes, could you imagine actually falling off your chair? I wonder if the judges would laugh…

I love that chicken! I must needs have it the sudden, too. (Imagine a Chinese food place playing that song!)

Wasn’t that the worst audience ever?!

  13. 91 FictionFan March 27, 2015 at 13:39

Fabulous!!! That’s the way to start the weekend with a smile!! The music is great and, of course, the Professor is amazingly talented, but let’s get to the really important stuff – doesn’t that dinkly little bowtie make the Professor look even more cute and adorable than ever?!? *faints and has to be revived by medicinal choc chip muffin*

And I love the tags! *biggest of bigly smiles*

And…and…and… NICK!!!!! We saw NICK!!!!! (Who has his own kinda cute and adorable thing going on too, it has to be said, even if he’s impersonating Mr Grumpy…) And I didn’t even have to read The Count of Monte Cristo!!

Wonderful, sir! Thank you for making me smile!

    • 92 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 27, 2015 at 19:13

Seeing that you didn’t read The Count of Monte Cristo, perhaps that means it’s not me?

      • 93 FictionFan March 27, 2015 at 21:04

Perhaps it isn’t! I thought he looked too sweet to be you admittedly, and I’ve always thought of you as having a Kenny G hairdo… although the feet fitted in well with my pre-existing image somehow…

      • 94 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 27, 2015 at 21:19

        Too sweet? He looks sweet???

Kenny G hairdo?? You picture me with a Kenny G hairdo???

I don’t even know what to say now…

      • 95 FictionFan March 28, 2015 at 22:04

*nods decisively* Awfully sweet! And cuddly…

I do – it brings me great pleasure… but that chap’s hairdo is much nicer.

      • 96 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 29, 2015 at 18:22

        Cuddly? It grows worse.

The best type of hair for a man is little hair.

      • 97 FictionFan March 30, 2015 at 00:36

Good noodles, Nick – I think we agree on something! This will never do!

      • 98 Nicholas Warren--MPS staff member March 30, 2015 at 13:56

Well, I suppose we’ll have to agree to agree for once. Nothing else can be done, it seems.

    • 99 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 13:52

*laughing* I completely changed up the Canon–I fear it needed it. Oh, you know bowties are the most ridiculous looking things–ever! Can I have a choc chip muffin?

*smiles bigly* Very glad you noticed!

*laughing lots and lots and lots* That fellow makes the worst audience ever, wouldn’t you say?

      • 100 FictionFan March 28, 2015 at 22:02

I think it did! In fact, I enjoyed it so much you can indeed have a choc chip muffin! Two, if you like! I wonder who invented the bowtie – and why? But it’s so cute… *tries not to giggle* I see you were wearing your pulchritudinous pants, by the way…

*nods proudly* Of course I did!

He’s sooo rude! That’s why I knew it was Nick! But there was one point where I’m pretty sure he almost smiled against his will…

      • 101 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:22

I’ll take…three! Thanks, FEF. It is not cute! *holds ears* It’s…warriorish. *says it without much conviction* You did? That’s them?

*laughing* He did, didn’t he? That was Olin Arts. Nice college.

      • 102 FictionFan March 30, 2015 at 00:34

*holds on tight to remaining muffin* I’m trying so hard not to think of poor Hector in a skirt, a baseball cap and a bowtie… Oh, I think they must be! Still never seen you in the famed cargo pants…

I bet he’s got a sweet little smile too! It’s quite big-looking for a college theatre.

      • 103 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:20

*laughs* You can have it, dadblameit! Well, did you know Hector has a big busy beard? Bet you didn’t know that! (Or want to know that.) I love cargo pants. Let me see…we have some casual shoots coming up, so you might! Not that it’s that cool or anything.

*laughs* He’d like that–lots. I’ll tell him. It is! I’m always shocked when I go to high-schools and colleges now. Their theaters are huge!

      • 104 FictionFan March 30, 2015 at 17:10

Phew! *wipes crumbs* No!!! A skirt and a beard?!? That’s – discombobulating! Ooh, when? What’s next?

*laughs wickedly* I don’t think he likes being called sweet – which is so sweet! *laughs again* You say that as if you’re 85…

      • 105 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 20:03

It is discombobulating! He fought with his beard on the beaches of Troy, see. Well…*stares at board* I’m not sure exactly what’s next. But there some cool stuff coming! Like another guitar war, for instance.

He doesn’t at all. *laughs too* I am. Way older than you suppose. Do you know who Deep Purple is?

      • 106 FictionFan March 31, 2015 at 01:05

Who won? Hector? Or his beard?

Ooh, that sounds good – who’ll be battling it out? Is Deep Purple a hint? I do know who they are, but don’t really know their stuff very well – though I’m sure I’d probably recognise some of it if I heard it.

      • 107 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 11:56

I think the beard won most battles for him.

Deep Purple on one side Beethoven on the other! Imagine that. *laughs* It will be an interest. You know DP? That’s cool.

      • 108 FictionFan March 31, 2015 at 16:53

Yeah, the other guys were probably laughing so hard they couldn’t fight…

*laughs* The amazing thing is I bet you’ll make it work too! I wonder who’ll win… my money’s on Deep Purple…

      • 109 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 22:09

*laughs* No, they did that when Achilles skirt was….well, you know.

My money’s on Beet Garden! Well…you could be right. Oh, it’s going to be a cool one. Do hope you like it!

      • 110 FictionFan April 1, 2015 at 16:21

        *chuckles wickedly* Naughty Professor!

I still haven’t decided who won the last one…

      • 111 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2015 at 18:41

        *laughs apologetically*

Umm…I thought you said the Pirates did…

      • 112 FictionFan April 1, 2015 at 20:39

Did I? Well, I think they probably did, but Bach puts up a jolly good fight…

      • 113 Professor VJ Duke April 2, 2015 at 12:55

Bach was way harder…but not in the solo version.

      • 114 FictionFan April 2, 2015 at 16:15

        Which isn’t on youtube…

      • 115 Professor VJ Duke April 3, 2015 at 12:52

Oh, you’ve already seen it! I’m going to do a “new” version of Leyenda.

      • 116 FictionFan April 3, 2015 at 16:34

No, I have not!!! *stamps foot* Are you?? That will be fantastic! *huge smile* When??

      • 117 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2015 at 22:34

Well…it’s basically the same! It’s for the competition, see. Stamping your foot won’t help you one bit! Well…soon, I think. Or the Barber one. It’s hard to decide what to do next.

      • 118 FictionFan April 6, 2015 at 15:59

I bet it would if your foot was underneath!! *growls fiercely* Leyenda *nods* See? It wasn’t hard to decide.

      • 119 Professor VJ Duke April 6, 2015 at 20:57

You wouldn’t do that to me! Okay, next 6 vids scheduled. And Leyenda is on for this month!

      • 120 FictionFan April 7, 2015 at 15:36

Six!!!! Yay!!! And double yay!!! I shall be eagerly waiting! Any clarinet?

      • 121 Professor VJ Duke April 7, 2015 at 17:37

Sadly, no. What would you like to see done with a clarinet? Any pieces in mind? Everyone wants me to do another CC…

      • 122 FictionFan April 7, 2015 at 22:02

I don’t think I know any clarinet music, I fear, so I would have to leave it up to your superior knowledge and excellent taste! What’s a CC?

      • 123 Professor VJ Duke April 8, 2015 at 12:25

Contemporary Christian. This one lady sent me a whole list she wants me to do! Oh dear.

      • 124 FictionFan April 8, 2015 at 21:11

Oh, you and your ladies! *shakes head despairingly* But I imagine there’s a huge market for it in America.

      • 125 Professor VJ Duke April 9, 2015 at 12:12

I can’t help it! They send me emails asking for the music. A lot of guys too. Actually, from what I’ve seen, it’s one of the fastest growing genres, believe it or not! I’m just a humble classical guitarist.

      • 126 FictionFan April 9, 2015 at 17:08

The price of fame! I bet none of them can play it as well as you though.

      • 127 Professor VJ Duke April 9, 2015 at 20:26

Oh…I don’t know! Just takes practice, you know, you know…

      • 128 FictionFan April 10, 2015 at 14:28

        Then get back to practice…

      • 129 Professor VJ Duke April 12, 2015 at 22:41

        I don’t want to practice!

      • 130 FictionFan April 13, 2015 at 16:04

You don’t need to – you’re already perfect! *nods vigorously and head falls off*

      • 131 Professor VJ Duke April 14, 2015 at 11:52

That’s so nice of you to say! I’ve got so much to learn. It’s so fun, too. Imagine playing guitar for a living!

      • 132 FictionFan April 14, 2015 at 21:38

I know!! So much fun! And so much pleasure for other people too… *smiles bigly*

      • 133 Professor VJ Duke April 15, 2015 at 11:36

You’re so sweet. Makes me want to…

  14. 134 Jackie March 27, 2015 at 13:36

So much punchalicious goodness in one video! I laughed and tapped my toe and generally had a great time. Sienna the cat liked it too. She purred the entire time. Honestly, I don’t think my petting her had anything to do with it. Thanks for an enjoyable start to our Friday morning. >^..^<

    • 135 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 13:50

*smiles bigly* That’s tops, then! Sienna was purring to the beat. That’s awesome! Thank you so much for watching.

  15. 136 LadyPinkRose March 27, 2015 at 13:29

LOVED THIS, Professor!!! I laughed SO hard in the beginning and then got so taken away with the playing I was just enthralled. Brilliant! Bravo! I would have been in the audience had I but known! Love, LadyP

    • 137 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 13:47

Thanks so much, LadyP! The professor really appreciates it. Glad you dug it a bit. A rude audience wasn’t it?

      • 138 LadyPinkRose March 28, 2015 at 15:41

Rude is not the word! Really? Some peeps just don’t know how to appreciate good music and talent when they hear it and see it. Sure the beginning was a bit rocky, but once the going got going, the playing was pure magic! Really!

      • 139 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:15

Many thanks, LadyP! All that stuff in the beginning…I think they were boring anyhows.

      • 140 LadyPinkRose March 29, 2015 at 18:44

Not on your life! Nothing could be boring if it makes someone laugh! It takes a LOT to understand humor and to make someone else laugh. That is Gift! I mean that, Professor. I learned by writing a story about me that in telling it I had an easier time of making others laugh. It was writing that was the real challenge to keep the story just as funny without the tonal inflections, gestures, etc. Comedy comes natural to others (me) but sometimes the timing has to be just right, the moment has to be just right, and you have to KNOW when to be funny. Yes?

      • 141 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:06

*nods* Well, LadyP, that makes a lot of sense for sure. I think you’re got a great point there, you know. Yes, sir, a very good point.

      • 142 LadyPinkRose March 30, 2015 at 13:43

Why thank you, Professor. Thank you for listening. Happy Monday to you, Sir! Love, LadyP

      • 143 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 19:46

*bows and his hat falls off* Be sure to have a cherry.

      • 144 LadyPinkRose March 30, 2015 at 23:48

        HUH?

      • 145 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 11:48

        What? You don’t like cherries?!

      • 146 LadyPinkRose March 31, 2015 at 12:34

Of course I like cherries. I just became bamboozled trying to figure out what cherries had to do with what we were talking about.

      • 147 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 22:03

You brought them up, you know.

      • 148 LadyPinkRose March 31, 2015 at 23:03

        Did not!

  16. 149 John W. Howell March 27, 2015 at 12:59

Laughed throughout the whole thing. Wonderful music. So much talent. Talk about jealous

    • 150 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2015 at 13:12

*smiles bigly* Very many thanks, John! Imagine that audience?! Dreadful, huh?

      • 151 John W. Howell March 27, 2015 at 18:55

So funny when the guy slams his laptop with the crowd noise.

      • 152 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:06

*laughs* Imagine walking out to an audience like that!

      • 153 John W. Howell March 28, 2015 at 16:05

The guy did look familiar though

      • 154 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:16

You’ve seen him in a dark alley, haven’t you?

      • 155 John W. Howell March 29, 2015 at 22:32

        Post office photo I think.

      • 156 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:12

        *laughs and nods*

  17. 157 JunkChuck March 27, 2015 at 12:38

    Pretty cool.

    • 158 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2015 at 13:11

      *bows* Thank you so much.

  18. 159 Nimmi March 27, 2015 at 12:17

Oh! VC!! You both bro’s are so funny… However, the music… Incredible!!! Just loved the way your fingers playing with the Guitar… Can you teach me Guitar or else give me your autograph dear… Because, when you become famous (which you still are) I mean very famous then I can’t stand in queue ;)
Your music always makes me to listen more. Love and Blessings to you, my dear <3

    • 160 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2015 at 13:10

*laughs* Thanks so much, Nimmi! Imagine coming out to an audience like that! What’s with that, huh?

I love guitar so much. Thank you! I’d love to teach you. Have you ever played? A bit, maybe?

      Thanks so much, Nimmi.

      • 161 Nimmi March 28, 2015 at 11:40

Wow!! So many thank you ;) Friends don’t need formalities :) And about that audience, well… he is a cute one though ;)
I never played guitar, dear… But, if you are my mentor then love to learn one :)
        You are so kind :)

      • 162 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:22

Oh, he was just rude and you know it, dadblameit!

*laughs* Never played at all? Nimmi!

      • 163 Nimmi March 29, 2015 at 10:20

No.. I didn’t find him rude… Instead he is a good actor ;)
Is something bad of me if I have never played a guitar :( Still love the way you play with it… :(

      • 164 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:31

        *laughing* Very good point!

No, I’m just giving you a hard time, Nimmi! *laughs* Thanks so much! Means a lot to me, you know.

      • 165 Nimmi March 30, 2015 at 07:45

You are so sweet :) <3

      • 166 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:26

Oh, no, I’m a vicious warrior, remember.

      • 167 Nimmi March 31, 2015 at 10:58

Oh! Yaa!! You fought in the trojan wars ;) Am I right :P

      • 168 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 12:03

        You are! Right alongside Hector!!!

      • 169 Nimmi March 31, 2015 at 12:04

        Yup!! I know ;)

      • 170 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 12:05

I did that post you told me to do!

      • 171 Nimmi March 31, 2015 at 12:06

Award one!! Bring it on dear :)

      • 172 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 22:01

        Thanks, Nimmi!

  19. 173 PorterGirl March 27, 2015 at 12:12

WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!! Now, that is some serious guitar work right there. Brilliantly brilliant and it made me laugh a little too. I am putting a link on my studio site right now. Bravo, bravo and thrice Professor – what more can a girl say!

    • 174 Professor VJ Duke March 27, 2015 at 13:09

Aw! Thanks so much–and plus a link! The professor is honored. My favorite part is the slow motion…I don’t know why either! (It’s way easier than it looks. You should play it on the strat!)

      • 175 PorterGirl March 27, 2015 at 14:01

*laughs* I did like the slow motion – so dramatic! I felt the anticipation in the hairs on the back of my neck. Not that my neck is hairy, you understand. (Pfft! I don’t think I could play it. But, for you, I will try a little bit. Then no doubt cry with frustration and blast out a few power chords).

      • 176 Professor VJ Duke March 28, 2015 at 14:01

I loved how it distorted the sound… *laughs* I was having too much fun, I fear, editing. And editing is never that fun. (Power chords rock! That’s much better anyway.)

      • 177 PorterGirl March 28, 2015 at 16:29

If the editing was fun that just goes to show what a top job you did all round! You chaps are simply wonderful and endlessly entertaining. (Imagine both styles at once! That would be a rare sound).

      • 178 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2015 at 18:19

Thanks lots, Lucy! Well, the next guitar war I wanted to do…some Deep Purple and Beethoven, believe it or not!

      • 179 PorterGirl March 30, 2015 at 06:02

That sounds most interesting, I look forward to that immensely. I hope it is Beethoven’s Fifth, first movement! But of course whatever it will be it is certain to be a triumph.

      • 180 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 12:26

I think I’ve already told you this, haven’t I? *laughing* That’s what happens when you get old, Lucy. Because you got it right on!

      • 181 PorterGirl March 30, 2015 at 13:12

I confess, we have had this conversation although you were only thinking of it at the time. I am pleased you have made a final decision on it! I shall barely sleep with the anticipation (and Terry poking me, of course).

      • 182 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2015 at 19:44

Just bite his ear…if he pokes you!

*laughing* I knew it! Yes, it’s been cemented. I’d like to do a LZ song eventually too. Classical guitar can rock, I think.

      • 183 PorterGirl March 31, 2015 at 05:27

A plan! I shall do it.
*Cheers* brilliant! I cannot wait! *fist thingy*. And you must do some LZ! That would be super. Classical guitar most certainly can rock. And roll. It is a souce of limitless delight!

      • 184 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 12:03

*fist thingy* *smiles really bigly* I so agree! What LZ song do you recommend?

      • 185 PorterGirl March 31, 2015 at 12:18

Oh my gosh, it’s so hard to pick one! Stairway To Heaven is the obvious one, or Black Dog, perhaps? Whole Lotta Love is awesome… how about Going To California?

      • 186 Professor VJ Duke March 31, 2015 at 22:03

Oh, they’re all so good! I always liked Dyer Maker…I don’t know why. And…of course Kashmir!

      • 187 PorterGirl April 1, 2015 at 05:21

Of course! Both excellent choices. You shall have to play them all, I fear. I shall be humming LZ all day now.

      • 188 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2015 at 18:28

Yes, me too…though, I am listening to the soundtrack to Zorro at the minute. It’s okay.

      • 189 PorterGirl April 1, 2015 at 20:22

That’s an interest. I can’t say I remember much about it. I bet The Dean knows it!

      • 190 Professor VJ Duke April 2, 2015 at 12:49

I bet The Dean hums it when he goes out as Zorro!

      • 191 PorterGirl April 2, 2015 at 13:13

        I bet!
