How to Sneak Into a Tower (TPL Story)

TPLStoryPic

So, the professor was traveling.

And I saw this tower.

20150625_141120

Immediately, the spirit of adventure was kindled within me…!

Not really, but I was interested, so I got closer.

20150622_120612

At this point, I decided I should enter the tower and cause some trouble.

So, I did.

20150622_143503

In the tower, looking about.

Now, the tower was very glass-y –there was glass everywhere, see–and it was quite open inside.

The professor was looking about sweetly enough when this fellow, who was behind a desk and wearing a badge, started waving his hands about.

Of course, I approached for clarification.

“What’s up, my man?” I asked innocently.

He was gruff. He was mean.

“You’re not allowed in here.”

“Really?” I asked. “But I got in, so let’s keep it a secret.”

He cocked his head to the left, so I did it, too, just so he didn’t feel out-of-place.

“You don’t understand,” he said, “this is a private tower. Leave, or I’ll call security.”

“And here I thought you were security,” I said.

His badge did say ‘security.’

Mr. Security was getting very cranky. “I am!”

“Look behind you!” I said, the sudden.

And he did.

And this professor skipped up the stairs.

I was curious as to what was up there, see.

“You can’t go up there!” he yelled.

And the chase was on!

But it wasn’t fair. He was slow and rather fat, so the professor was out distancing him in no time.

What I didn’t plan for was a security guard upstairs.

“Halt!” he ordered.

And he moved right in front of me.

Now, this professor was moving fast…and I couldn’t stop.

We hit the ground together.

I was up in a jiffy or two.

Then the alarm went off, and this professor ran back down the stairs–past Mr. Security–and out the door.

It was an adventure, for sure.

    Hey Professor,

Welcome back! I see you are up to your old tricks again. :)

    Nancy

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 12:33

Oh, I sure am! All sorts of dadblamery, don’t you know.

  2. 3 masgautsen July 21, 2015 at 11:11

    Really great photos!

    • 4 Professor VJ Duke July 21, 2015 at 11:35

Thank you! Very fun to take. Hot out there, you know.

      • 5 masgautsen July 21, 2015 at 11:41

        How hot?

      • 6 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 12:22

It was around 90 degrees F. And very humid!

      • 7 masgautsen July 22, 2015 at 12:23

        Auch!

      • 8 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 12:41

        Horrid!

  3. 9 John W. Howell July 21, 2015 at 00:45

I would think the owner of the tower (His Towerness) would welcome people to fawn over his accomplishment. Such a nice tower should be shown off.

    • 10 Professor VJ Duke July 21, 2015 at 11:35

You’re quite right as always, John. He was being a rotten rat, I say. Then again, maybe he’s embarrassed by it for some odd reason?

      • 11 John W. Howell July 21, 2015 at 12:21

Might be the decor is a bit stale. You could offer a re-do.

      • 12 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 12:25

I’d only charge a modest price, too.

      • 13 John W. Howell July 22, 2015 at 12:44

        Times 1000 offices

      • 14 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 19:06

        Right! *laughs*

      • 15 John W. Howell July 22, 2015 at 23:21

        mmmm-money

      • 16 Professor VJ Duke July 24, 2015 at 00:08

        *laughing* Exactly!

  4. 17 erinkenobi2893 July 20, 2015 at 22:08

It sounds as if it was rather fun! Next time I shall come and sneak into towers as well ;-)
I apologize for my sudden and unexplained absence. I had sudden and unexplained things that I had to do.

    • 18 Professor VJ Duke July 21, 2015 at 11:34

You’d be perfect at it, Erin. Together two Sith are unstoppable, don’t you know.

*laughs* That’s like the perfect excuse ever.

      • 19 erinkenobi2893 July 21, 2015 at 16:06

I’m not a Sith, though. Right now I’m being a Time Lord. :-P
Why thank you! X-D I did think it was rather good ;-P

      • 20 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 12:32

Oh, I was hoping you’d joined.

      • 21 erinkenobi2893 July 22, 2015 at 13:40

No. Right now I’m rather busy saving the universe and doing Journalism homework. It’s interesting but exhausting. :-P

      • 22 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 19:09

That sounds very interesting. Write something wicked.

      • 23 erinkenobi2893 July 22, 2015 at 22:11

        I will try. ;-)

      • 24 Professor VJ Duke July 24, 2015 at 00:07

        *fist thingy*

      • 25 erinkenobi2893 July 24, 2015 at 12:28

Ba la la la la! :-P

      • 26 Professor VJ Duke July 24, 2015 at 17:50

I know that song! Sith theme song.

      • 27 erinkenobi2893 July 25, 2015 at 15:55

No, quote from Big Hero Six. :-P

      • 28 Professor VJ Duke July 28, 2015 at 14:06

        Oh, dadblameit!

      • 29 erinkenobi2893 July 28, 2015 at 16:43

You should watch it. It’s a good movie ;-)
Oh, by the way. Hiccup, Obi-Wan, the Doctor and possibly Jack Frost have been hanging out together. We should call them the Sarcasm Squad! :-P

      • 30 Professor VJ Duke July 28, 2015 at 20:03

Oh my! What a group. We definitely should. We should also spy on them. I’d be curious about their conversations.

      • 31 erinkenobi2893 July 28, 2015 at 21:50

I agree! Their conversations are normally pretty interesting. (For instance, they start experimenting on things and turning them into other things. Just last week, Obi-Wan created a genetically-engineered hamster llama by accident!)
Just wait until the Sarcasm Squad runs into Captain Jack Harkness! THEN things get interesting. X-P

      • 32 Professor VJ Duke July 29, 2015 at 13:39

*laughs* Did he really? The bugger! I know…can’t wait for that to happen for some reason.

      • 33 erinkenobi2893 July 29, 2015 at 13:47

It was an interesting situation. :-P
        Neither can I X-D

      • 34 Professor VJ Duke July 29, 2015 at 19:13

        It will be a blowout!

      • 35 erinkenobi2893 July 30, 2015 at 16:14

        Indeed it will! X-D

      • 36 Professor VJ Duke July 31, 2015 at 12:27

        Sweet.

      • 37 erinkenobi2893 July 31, 2015 at 14:54

        X-D

  5. 38 themofman July 19, 2015 at 17:47

The next time you want to enter a secured building, call Tom Cruise!

    • 39 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 13:13

I know, right?! He knows how to take off on a plane in style.

  6. 40 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister July 18, 2015 at 16:00

Are you kidding me?! *stern eye* Duke! I know this tower… *slams the book shut*

I do hope you enjoyed being chased around this tower. I thought we would do this sort of thing together. *laughs* I wish you would have gone to jail for a bit. *laughing so hard* The security guy at one of my favorite buildings is far nicer, you know?!

    • 41 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 13:08

*laughs* Bet you do! Did you visit when you were there? I got to go all the way up on the top floor!

Go to jail? That’s very wicked of you, don’t you know! What do they do in that building? It’s unbelievable.

      • 42 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister July 20, 2015 at 17:03

*laughs* I didn’t. I was too busy follow a hunch I had. Smelled a tune in the air, I think. *becomes pensive* Why were you there on top? For fun?
I know. I have to be wicked around you. For the best. I have no idea. Find out for me, please. Report back.

      • 43 Professor VJ Duke July 21, 2015 at 11:29

A hunch? Now…what is this hunch you speak of?

Well, the conference had a party up there late one night. Everyone was getting drunk. It was a wonder.

*laughs* It’s good to be wicked, you know.

      • 44 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister July 21, 2015 at 19:57

I was looking for dinner. I wanted dinner, music and photos. I was pretty sure I was in the right place. I heard Jazz in the air. Imagine had I stumbled upon you.
Oh, yes, well that sort of thing is normal in the music biz. You better start now… *winks*
*sparkles* Yes, I know. Someday it will pay off.

      • 45 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 12:40

I know! We were so close. It’s a funny thing. Very odd, too. Jazz is perfect for dinner.

Will not! I prefer just to watch them.

        Some day. Even now maybe!

      • 46 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister July 22, 2015 at 16:08

Very close. *sad face* Odd, indeed. Jazz is perfect always, Sir.
Watching can be more fun. I am a people watcher. I like to guess about what they’re trying to achieve. Who they want to take home. That sort of thing keeps me entertained.
        Now?!

      • 47 Professor VJ Duke July 22, 2015 at 19:21

Yes, that is a very fun pastime. And you can make fun of people too. That’s always a hoot and a few, don’t you know.

        Now!

      • 48 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister July 23, 2015 at 15:13

        I must agree!
        *whispers* Now?

      • 49 Professor VJ Duke July 24, 2015 at 00:16

        Absolutely now!

      • 50 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister July 24, 2015 at 04:12

        What should I do?

      • 51 Professor VJ Duke July 24, 2015 at 17:44

Have a cup of tea and practice guitar.

      • 52 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister July 24, 2015 at 23:47

Sounds like that’s what you would do…

      • 53 Professor VJ Duke July 28, 2015 at 14:04

        It’s so fun.

  7. 54 The Lite Rider July 18, 2015 at 14:41

A … graceful (?) … escape, Professor. I can’t blame you for getting into that tower. I would have, too.

    • 55 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 13:06

*laughs* Of course I’m graceful! But just a bit, LR. Yes, see…you would’ve snuck in too!

  8. 56 Simply Skeptical July 18, 2015 at 11:22

A bit mischievous there Prof. What’s it all about I wonder to say? I can see how it was intriguing to explore. It reminded me of where the wizard of Oz might be.

    • 57 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 13:05

Definitely. The WoO is probably upstairs on the top floor. Being wicked, too.

  9. 58 desertdweller29 July 17, 2015 at 22:44

Now I want to know what was going on in that tower! Next time I’ll join you, Professor. I’ll create a distraction. I’m told I’m quite good at with my Madonna costume on. Then you sneak up the stairs and report!

    • 59 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 12:58

I’ll definitely take you with me! Your mission will be to befuddle and render useless all the security guards. Then I should have a rather easy time. Deal?

      • 60 desertdweller29 July 20, 2015 at 15:36

Deal! No mission too impossible, Sir.

      • 61 Professor VJ Duke July 21, 2015 at 11:28

Good! I see the success like it just happened. Very excited.

  10. 62 Jackie July 17, 2015 at 18:44

Wowawee! Never a dull moment, is there? That was a humdinger of an adventure!

    • 63 Professor VJ Duke July 17, 2015 at 22:21

Why very true! Love your PA, Jackie!!

      • 64 Jackie July 17, 2015 at 22:29

Thanks you kindly for your nice words. :-D

      • 65 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 12:57

        *bows* My pleasure, madam!

  11. 66 Lady Dunamis July 17, 2015 at 18:22

PVJ, you have been hanging around Daddy Salami too much. Calling the security guard fat I am sure was extremely offensive. I think you should bring coffee and donuts as a peace offering.

    • 67 Professor VJ Duke July 17, 2015 at 22:21

So…do you suppose I should go back? I like that idea.

  12. 68 Heartafire July 17, 2015 at 14:26

Yay to you professor, we need to investigate this type of secrecy. The way they managed to erect this tower, a clever camophlage, blending perfectly into its surroundings. I feel comfortable knowing you will persevere. Push on!

    • 69 Professor VJ Duke July 17, 2015 at 22:16

So…do you suppose there’s something dreadfully wicked in there?!

      • 70 Heartafire July 18, 2015 at 02:10

The Krispy Kreme donut recipe I’m guessing.

      • 71 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 13:01

We definitely need to nab that, agreed?

      • 72 Heartafire July 20, 2015 at 13:53

dough and a healthy portion of lard…eureka.

      • 73 Professor VJ Duke July 21, 2015 at 11:26

So, that’s how they do it! Not that hard at all, I see.

  13. 74 L. Marie July 17, 2015 at 14:14

At least you got in!! Did you catch a glimpse of any secret meetings? Next time, bring Daddy Salami or Manly-Man with you.

    • 75 Professor VJ Duke July 17, 2015 at 22:16

I definitely should’ve. We would have gotten even further! Nah, nothing too secretive or cool. I must return!

  14. 76 Debbie July 17, 2015 at 13:52

I love it that you mimicked his head-cocking movement — I read somewhere that when dogs wink at you, you’re supposed to wink back (it means something in dog-speak, I think!). Too bad head-cocking doesn’t mean beans in security-person speak, ha!

Love the glassy tower — is that inside photo looking up at its ceiling, or is it some kind of decorative floor?

Nice to see an adventurous chase to start the weekend, Professor!

    • 77 Professor VJ Duke July 17, 2015 at 22:15

Haha! Now, wait a second here…dogs wink? I’ve never seen this! Do they really?

Yes, that’s looking up at the ceiling. Wild, huh?

I’m so riotous at the moment.

      • 78 Debbie July 17, 2015 at 23:46

Dallas winks — yes, really! It’s terribly cute, you know. And I always wink back at him! Your two don’t wink?? That’s a wonder. Maybe it’s a Sheltie thing, I don’t know. I’ll have to check this out and let you know.

      • 79 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 12:59

Winking! It’s a wonder. And rather neatio. I will start winking more, and see if they answer.

  15. 80 walt walker July 17, 2015 at 13:35

You should try again tomorrow, with a bit of a plan, or some such. What do you think they are guarding in there, so fatly and slowly?

    • 81 Professor VJ Duke July 17, 2015 at 22:13

*laughs* I’m not sure! Donuts perhaps? Also, I should borrow the boomerang.

      • 82 walt walker July 17, 2015 at 22:33

Good idea. I’ll throw it to you. *throws it*

      • 83 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 12:57

*catches it* Just keep your DH tracker.

  16. 84 FictionFan July 17, 2015 at 13:14

How thrilling! Finally! Somebody actually fell for the ‘Look behind you’ ploy! Unless of course there really was something behind him – a disorientated wildebeest, perhaps, or a giant mutant tomato! Poor man! He was probably just running after you hoping you would protect him…

    • 85 Professor VJ Duke July 17, 2015 at 22:12

Oh no, that works nearly all the time. I bet you’d fall for it! This professor is so dadblame convincing it’s hard not to, see. *smiles proudly but doesn’t bow* Mutant tomato! That scares me horridly.

      • 86 FictionFan July 18, 2015 at 15:02

Yes, I do tend to fall for things – gullible, that’s me! *curtseys anyway*

      • 87 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 13:06

Gullible? Nah…Schwarz is more gullible that way, you should know.

      • 88 FictionFan July 20, 2015 at 14:18

        The sweetest people usually are…

      • 89 Professor VJ Duke July 21, 2015 at 11:27

        Hmm…you might have a point. I wonder…how should one define a sweet person? That’s a question, see.

  17. 90 PorterGirl July 17, 2015 at 13:08

Towers can be such tricksy things – you did very well to get as far as you did! Why are all security chaps slow and fat? It’s almost as if they want you to break in, or something.

    • 91 Professor VJ Duke July 17, 2015 at 22:11

I think they just get lazy with time. All those donuts and no action. This professor was actually providing a civil service, see. Don’t you suppose I’m up for an award?

      • 92 PorterGirl July 18, 2015 at 09:00

I should think you should be! An award of the people, I reckon. They should make you Mayor, in fact.

      • 93 Professor VJ Duke July 20, 2015 at 13:05

Then they’ll have to let me in that building, ’cause I’d make a fuss and pass a bill if they didn’t.

      • 94 PorterGirl July 20, 2015 at 13:18

And also wage a war on the people of the tower. The buggers!

      • 95 Professor VJ Duke July 21, 2015 at 11:22

They are complete buggers. I would bite their ears off. Wouldn’t let us film there, they wouldn’t.
