What Lives in There?

So, this professor was having a gigantic think-session.

What do you suppose lives in this cave?

dreamstime_10418133

I came up with a few options.

(1) A Yeti

(2) A few mice

(3) Some snakes

(4) An arctic fox

Unknown

(5) A polar bear

(6) A pigeon

If I was a bird, that’d be me.

Well, what does you suppose lives in there, PF?

I hope it’s a polar bear, but I’m afraid I rather think it might be the pigeon. Dadblameit.

    • 2 Professor VJ Duke October 2, 2015 at 13:35

      A pigeon…with a message, maybe!

      • 3 erinkenobi2893 October 2, 2015 at 13:48

Oh! Who might the message be for? If the message is for Attila the Hun, then it is our solemn duty to intercept it!

      • 4 Professor VJ Duke October 2, 2015 at 20:21

It probably is, now that you say it. Let’s get it!

      • 5 erinkenobi2893 October 2, 2015 at 20:35

Right! *finishes fixing the sub* Hop in, Professor!

      • 6 Professor VJ Duke October 3, 2015 at 18:18

        Awesome! To Atlantis!

      • 7 erinkenobi2893 October 3, 2015 at 18:43

        Off we go! *dives*

  2. 8 Susan P August 28, 2015 at 16:26

I think it is the White Witch during the long time that it was winter but never Christmas.

    • 9 Professor VJ Duke August 31, 2015 at 19:54

We should go and get her then, don’t you know.

      • 10 Susan P August 31, 2015 at 20:46

        Don’t forget the taffy.

      • 11 Professor VJ Duke September 1, 2015 at 11:45

        She likes taffy?

      • 12 Susan P September 1, 2015 at 14:38

        What’s not to like?

      • 13 Professor VJ Duke September 1, 2015 at 21:35

They take your teeth with them, the buggering stuff is so sticky!

      • 14 Susan P September 2, 2015 at 00:15

Maybe you are not eating it properly.

      • 15 Professor VJ Duke September 2, 2015 at 18:44

Do you have to eat it with your tongue?

      • 16 Susan P September 2, 2015 at 20:32

Oh no, you have to learn to slurp it up a fine straw.

      • 17 Professor VJ Duke September 3, 2015 at 12:50

Only babies use straws! *hides his stash*

      • 18 Susan P September 3, 2015 at 13:29

Oooo- is that a replica of the Death Star on y our straw?

      • 19 Professor VJ Duke September 3, 2015 at 23:03

        It is! Brilliant, huh?

      • 20 Susan P September 4, 2015 at 01:03

Wait! It looks like it’s fading….

      • 21 Professor VJ Duke September 4, 2015 at 12:12

Just like the real thing! Going to see the new Star Wars, Susan?

      • 22 Susan P September 5, 2015 at 13:27

Probably. Eventual. I waited several decades before I saw the first one.

      • 23 Professor VJ Duke September 7, 2015 at 15:31

        Well, me too.

      • 24 Susan P September 7, 2015 at 21:36

        It was fun, though.

      • 25 Professor VJ Duke September 8, 2015 at 12:45

Wasn’t it? I love the litesaber fights.

      • 26 Susan P September 8, 2015 at 15:00

It was. We sat in the chilled theater when the heat of the summer was melting the parking lots.

      • 27 Professor VJ Duke September 9, 2015 at 12:59

Bet you had lots of fun!

      • 28 Susan P September 9, 2015 at 13:34

Until afterward when we had to go out of doors.

      • 29 Professor VJ Duke September 10, 2015 at 12:51

I imagine it was a shock and that you were blinded!

    • 30 erinkenobi2893 October 2, 2015 at 02:52

*runs into the cave and bonks her on the head with a mop and a frying pan* That should fix it! Now… *gives the cave a good sonic’ing*

  3. 31 Lady Dunamis August 27, 2015 at 18:59

A German billionaire who built an underground passage as his or her headquarters to establish global dominance.

    • 32 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 20:42

Yes! Love that to bits, Lady. Okay, then, we should go get him/her.

      • 33 Lady Dunamis August 27, 2015 at 22:07

Only if they don’t plan on killing us.

      • 34 Professor VJ Duke August 28, 2015 at 12:53

We’ll be secret like. And kill them!

      • 35 Lady Dunamis August 28, 2015 at 17:15

        😈

      • 36 Professor VJ Duke August 31, 2015 at 19:55

        That’s me!

  4. 37 FictionFan August 27, 2015 at 00:47

Oh, I’m surprised you didn’t recognise it! That’s where Nessie stays when she feels like a little winter break!

    • 38 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:35

Now is that so? I didn’t recognize it. A wonder. I should go in definitely now.

      • 39 FictionFan August 27, 2015 at 17:19

Take a plentiful supply of doughnuts… she gets cranky if her blood sugar gets low…

      • 40 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 20:40

I’ll bring her some bacon, a towel, and a speaker.

      • 41 FictionFan August 27, 2015 at 23:36

*laughs* It’ll have to be a big towel then! And the speaker would be pointless unless you take music – so better to just take the guitar…

      • 42 Professor VJ Duke August 28, 2015 at 12:56

But do you think she’d like guitar music?

      • 43 FictionFan August 28, 2015 at 16:19

        Oh, I’m sure she’d like yours…

      • 44 Professor VJ Duke August 31, 2015 at 19:54

        Otherwise, she might eat me!

  5. 45 L. Marie August 26, 2015 at 22:17

My vote is for the fox. I think there are kits inside.

    • 46 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:33

No, really? Nice. I shall catch them for pets, see.

  6. 47 kevinespencer August 26, 2015 at 22:02

    Al Gore?

    • 48 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:32

*laughing lots* That’s a good one. Well, I know that he should live there, for sure.

  7. 49 Simply Skeptical August 26, 2015 at 20:47

The abominable snowman of course. Now how much easier could that get? Goodness me Professor…

    • 50 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 21:03

Well, you might be right and then again…!

  8. 51 John W. Howell August 26, 2015 at 18:36

If the professor had a gigantic think session it can’t be a bird. It has to be something worthy. I think it is an artic version of Godzilla. Not the kid but the real big grown up Godzilla and she has run out of firewood.

    • 52 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 21:03

Oh goodness. That means, then, that she is horribly cranky. And I’m in trouble. Would she be white?

      • 53 John W. Howell August 26, 2015 at 22:55

        No just frost covered.

      • 54 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:33

Now, I’m wondering if she’d be cold. Probably not.

      • 55 John W. Howell August 27, 2015 at 12:37

A fairly big lizard so I’m thinking yes.

      • 56 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:40

Oh, that’s right! *bangs head on desk* Then she won’t be moving too vastly fast.

  9. 57 fauquetmichel August 26, 2015 at 16:59

I would prefer some bottles of old wine ! :)
    In friendship
    Michel

    • 58 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 21:01

      Red, white, or black?

  10. 59 InfiniteZip August 26, 2015 at 15:50

Pirates shivering their timbers no doubt….and hiding their dabloons and gems…..go in and let me know…..just take your katana just in case…..

    • 60 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:58

Do you suppose their pirate swords are brittle from the cold?

      • 61 InfiniteZip August 27, 2015 at 00:49

No…it will just hurt more when they slice through I would think….

      • 62 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:36

Ouch. I’m going to have to run then, huh?

      • 63 InfiniteZip August 27, 2015 at 16:13

Only if you go in to see and explore…..maybe send Ruber first?

      • 64 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 20:39

        And if he dies…

      • 65 InfiniteZip August 28, 2015 at 08:56

Oh my, I did not think of that…perhaps if there are many of you…safety in numbers?

      • 66 Professor VJ Duke August 28, 2015 at 13:00

        Let’s take Rosie!

      • 67 InfiniteZip August 28, 2015 at 13:44

Yes, she will lead the charge….although she may not want to come out….she likes pirates….

      • 68 Professor VJ Duke August 31, 2015 at 19:44

We’ll make her come out, I say!

  11. 69 Debbie August 26, 2015 at 15:40

That Arctic fox is soooo cute! If he were living in that cave, I’d go right in and give him a cuddle!

I don’t think pigeons live in caves, Professor. Even chubby, cherry-eyed pigeons! However, I do think you might find a polar bear hibernating, lots of tiny creatures like bacteria, and perhaps an outlaw or two (maybe Daddy Salami and his gang of rapscallions??!)

    • 70 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:57

Even if he bit off your finger?

You’re quite right. I could see DS in there, the beast. Now, are you positive about pigeons? I hear they can fly long times.

  12. 71 desertdweller29 August 26, 2015 at 15:40

    I’m 100% certain after my gigantic think-session — YETI!

Every time I watch Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, I ask myself if I’d be willing to crawl into a dead, smelly Yeti (Wampa) to survive. The jury is still out. Would you, Professor?

    • 72 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:57

Haha, I hope yours was more productive then mine.

I would not! Doesn’t Han say it smells? *shudders* And those gizzards! Yucketh.

  13. 73 sonmi upon the Cloud August 26, 2015 at 15:21

It is the cave of doom. The only way to find out, is to enter, but then…you are doomed, and never return, though sometimes, if one listens closely upon the mountain tops, one can hear the vague sound of wind being passed by those lost within.

    – s.u.t.Cloud

    • 74 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:56

*laughs and shudders* Now I’m spooked, Sonmi, thank you very much! We must go in together and brave the cave. Are you ready?

      • 75 sonmi upon the Cloud August 27, 2015 at 07:24

With a huff-hum and a roar! And also some breadcrumbs to find out way out and the very latest in water pistol technology up our sleeves!

        – sonmi armed to the teeth upon the Cloud

      • 76 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:39

Huff-hum and a roar, love it! Okay, now I need one of these new pistols, Sonmi…

  14. 77 masgautsen August 26, 2015 at 14:46

    YETY!!!!

    • 78 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:56

Oh dear! How big are they?

      • 79 masgautsen August 26, 2015 at 20:57

        Very big

      • 80 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 21:04

Goodness. Now, I’m scared cranky, can you believe.

      • 81 masgautsen August 26, 2015 at 21:27

Deep down he’s cuddly and fluffy and he just wants to be loved.

      • 82 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:32

Really? Poor bloke. No wonder we don’t understand him. Tell him if he brushes his hair, that might help.

  15. 83 Heartafire August 26, 2015 at 14:39

Aside from stalagmites, that cave is filled with about 20 million bats. Do be careful Professor, do wear you hat professor, if they get in your hair you will go completely mad…I speak from experience. :-)

    • 84 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:55

Did you have a bat in your hair? I think that’s a good way to catch one. Get it in your hair, then nab it. Very cool. Bats are cool, you must admit.

      • 85 Heartafire August 26, 2015 at 21:13

hence the nickname “batty”. I don’t care for bats, ewww. Sorry

      • 86 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:31

Now, what if you could have two bat wings and fly around a bit?

      • 87 Heartafire August 27, 2015 at 13:30

Where might I find those, are they in my price range ($1.50)?

      • 88 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 20:36

That’s what one costs, I fear, Hollie.

      • 89 Heartafire August 27, 2015 at 20:45

Then I will settle for ju ju bee’s

      • 90 Professor VJ Duke August 28, 2015 at 12:50

Oh! I know those. They’re hard, aren’t they?

      • 91 Heartafire August 28, 2015 at 13:38

no, not at all, soft and chewy, and they come in all kinds of yummy flavors, I also like gummy bears.

      • 92 Professor VJ Duke August 31, 2015 at 19:44

I love gummy bears! *eats them all*

  16. 93 AmyRose🌹 August 26, 2015 at 13:58

*Shivers* It has to be a dragon, a fiery dragon, living in frigid ice so that he doesn’t burn himself up. O-O-O-O-O-O-O That cave looks scary! You gave me quite the fright, Professor! As for the pigeon …. looks like me when I am sprawled on the couch unable to move from exhaustion. Tee hee … Yours truly, LadyP <3

    • 94 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:55

Lady looks like a pigeon? What an interest! Now, do you suppose a red rose could live in there?

      • 95 AmyRose🌹 August 26, 2015 at 22:29

NO! A redRose needs nurturing and sunshine and warmth and soil and lots and lots of LOVE. Impossible in a frigid cave. Uh uh. No way. Got it?

      • 96 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:33

It is not! I hear that love is at its greatest in a frigid cave, LadyP!

      • 97 AmyRose🌹 August 27, 2015 at 12:39

TOTALLY DISAGREE! Are you be sittin’ on your heart, Mame?

      • 98 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:40

        Mame? Now, who’s this mame?

      • 99 AmyRose🌹 August 27, 2015 at 12:46

Wake up, Prof! What’s wrong with you today? Who else would I be speaking to if not you?!

      • 100 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 20:33

        The snail on my lap?

      • 101 AmyRose🌹 August 27, 2015 at 22:20

What snail? I don’t see any …. Beside you would a snail get on your lap? *scratching head* HUH?

      • 102 Professor VJ Duke August 28, 2015 at 12:53

I put it there! Now it left, because you yelled at it!

      • 103 AmyRose🌹 August 28, 2015 at 19:11

GOOD! I don’t like snails! They eat my plants! ERGH!

      • 104 Professor VJ Duke August 31, 2015 at 19:55

        But they’re just hungry!

  17. 105 PorterGirl August 26, 2015 at 13:30

I like the look of that pigeon! He looks like I do on a Sunday afternoon. In fact, I live in that cave. But only occasionally. It is expensive to heat, you know. You are welcome to pop in for a visit.

    • 106 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:54

*laughs* Does he? I understand that. You know, I’m betting he can’t quite move either, the bugger. You live in there? Epic! I imagine the heating cost is epic as well. I shall pop over for some sledding.

      • 107 PorterGirl August 27, 2015 at 06:18

He looks like he has been sat there a long time, certainly. His poor wings must be constantly worried that he might try to fly at any moment. Do pop over – bring some warm trousers, though. And a woolly vest.

      • 108 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 12:39

I shall definitely. Also, some shoes or sandals and a beanie and scarf. We’ll have him warm in no time.

      • 109 PorterGirl August 27, 2015 at 12:42

        Hurrah for that, I say!

      • 110 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 20:32

        I second that!

  18. 111 PigLove August 26, 2015 at 13:21

ooohhh squeals. I go with a giant Yeti. Yeah. This piggy likes that idea – a giant snowbound YETI. XOXO – Bacon

    • 112 Professor VJ Duke August 26, 2015 at 20:52

Bacon! How art thou? Aha, I knew you might say that. But still, I shall go in and vanquish the beast.

      • 113 PigLove August 27, 2015 at 14:04

Capture the guy and send him to my crib. He might get along with my Bigfoot in my backyard. :) XOXO – Bacon

      • 114 Professor VJ Duke August 27, 2015 at 20:37

        You’ve got a bigfoot?! *jealous*
