The professor’s Office

professor speaks

Okay, yes, I must do this, see. Just because.

You must see the place where the professor thinks, plots, dies, and lives each day. Well, most days. Sometimes I escape through the door.

20160301_083001

Yes, I do tape things to my wall. But only because there’s no room anywhere else, see.

Now, this here is an interest:

20160301_083022

Do you see that knight chap? That’s the sort of armor I should have. I must search for it. And I know it’s hard to see, but he has a very cool axe. Or ax. Or axx.

20160301_083103

I’ve yet to name that boy up there. I think I need to water him more. Any suggestions for a name? Maybe Hector?

And this…is a picture of the professor–on a coin:

20160301_083128

Come and take it, I say. I shall defend that copper coin, though. Be warned.

      • 16 Professor VJ Duke March 18, 2016 at 14:41

        Is hot toddy your dog?

        Only if they’re frog legs!๐Ÿธ

      • 20 Professor VJ Duke March 23, 2016 at 14:05

        Goodness. That sounds vicious.

        They are delicious!

      • 25 Professor VJ Duke March 24, 2016 at 13:45

Well. I believe you, the sudden.

      • 26 Ms. Vee March 24, 2016 at 16:45

I have to visit your land! I need to get away. See you soon.

      • 27 Professor VJ Duke March 25, 2016 at 18:29

        Don’t fall off a wagon!

      • 28 Ms. Vee March 28, 2016 at 23:06

        I just got up!

      • 29 Professor VJ Duke March 29, 2016 at 12:59

Go back to bed, I say!

      • 30 Ms. Vee March 29, 2016 at 13:13

      • 31 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2016 at 12:59

        We’ll be a team!

      • 33 Professor VJ Duke March 30, 2016 at 13:17

      • 34 Ms. Vee March 30, 2016 at 13:21

What superhero outfit will you wear?

      • 35 Professor VJ Duke April 1, 2016 at 14:46

        Spidermans!

      • 36 Ms. Vee April 1, 2016 at 15:08

No. I am afraid of spiders!

      • 37 Professor VJ Duke April 3, 2016 at 20:39

All spiders or just the juicy ones?

      • 38 Ms. Vee April 3, 2016 at 22:16

        Ugg. All of them!

      • 39 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2016 at 15:04

        *shakes head* Ms. Vee…

      • 40 Ms. Vee April 4, 2016 at 19:21

        LOL! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

      • 41 Professor VJ Duke April 5, 2016 at 13:51

I say, some of those faces are crying!

      • 42 Ms. Vee April 5, 2016 at 18:18

        Laughing until I cry!

  2. 43 Heartafire March 3, 2016 at 16:20

A fine office. I showed my office once and my big black buttery leather chair with the high back. sigh. I would name that plant Gino, there something about it.

    • 44 Professor VJ Duke March 4, 2016 at 15:19

      Gino! After the singer chap?

You have a great black chair, I’m thinking. One of class!

      • 45 Heartafire March 4, 2016 at 16:48

Very much so. I am like a tiny bee in there.

      • 46 Professor VJ Duke March 7, 2016 at 20:35

        I like bees, you know.

      • 47 Heartafire March 7, 2016 at 20:57

They are so cute, buzzing around, making honey, we forget about the sting!

      • 48 Professor VJ Duke March 9, 2016 at 14:21

The sting. Blah! They never sting the professor.

      • 49 Heartafire March 9, 2016 at 14:27

        bzzzzzz.

      • 50 Professor VJ Duke March 9, 2016 at 14:45

        A bee, the sudden!

      • 51 Heartafire March 9, 2016 at 14:50

        just buzzing around.

      • 52 Professor VJ Duke March 10, 2016 at 13:56

        Like me.

  3. 53 Sonya Solomonovich March 3, 2016 at 14:00

The knight is awesome! But knights are very romantic, you know. They usually have a lady whom they fight for.

    • 54 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:51

Aw. Really? Maybe not! I bet he does, tho.

  4. 55 Lady Dunamis March 2, 2016 at 23:07

I must confess my disappointment of not seeing a katana. I was sure that would be visually inspiring.

I vote to name the plant Matilda seems suitable and it looks like it’s on its las leaf, but if your resurrection power is as great as you suggest, well, I say name it the Jolly Green Giant.

    • 56 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:46

It’s in the corner. Wrapped up in a black thingy. I keep it hidden, see. In case I need to use it.

Last leaf? Do you really think so? No! I just got it. *tries to save it*

  5. 57 walt walker March 2, 2016 at 02:47

Can I axe you a question about those fluffy bears? Because I’m sure they are great, but they seem out of place in the office of a warrior such as yourself.

    • 58 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:27

*laughing lots* Well…maybe they were given to a baby version of me in a different dimension?

  6. 59 John W. Howell March 2, 2016 at 01:25

I think you might be a little too big for that suit of armor. I would name the bamboo bambie since it is not yet full grown. I like that you place cases on the guest chair so there will be no guests. All in all a fun place.

    • 60 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:27

Yes, but we can’t call the knight bambie, you must agree. He’d get so cranky, with a name like that. *laughs* That’s my theory exactly! If they have nowhere to sit, no guests. That was a clarinet and oboe case, don’t you know.

      • 61 John W. Howell March 2, 2016 at 20:56

        I like them anyway.

      • 62 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:41

        *laughs* Me too, I think.

      • 63 John W. Howell March 3, 2016 at 17:20

        :-)

      • 64 Professor VJ Duke March 4, 2016 at 15:25

        ==]:-{)=

      • 65 John W. Howell March 4, 2016 at 17:49

        Hey. That’s mine. (I think)

      • 66 Professor VJ Duke March 7, 2016 at 20:38

Now how could this professor’s face be yours?

      • 67 John W. Howell March 8, 2016 at 01:47

Not sure. I think I showed this one to your before.

      • 68 Professor VJ Duke March 9, 2016 at 14:29

Maybe I silently thieved it then.

      • 69 John W. Howell March 9, 2016 at 21:35

        Ah well it’s yours.

      • 70 Professor VJ Duke March 10, 2016 at 14:04

        And yours.

      • 71 John W. Howell March 10, 2016 at 20:28

        Naw. You can have it

      • 72 Professor VJ Duke March 11, 2016 at 14:06

        I insist, you…okay, I”ll take it.

      • 73 John W. Howell March 11, 2016 at 14:09

        Done

      • 74 Professor VJ Duke March 11, 2016 at 14:11

        And done is done.

      • 75 John W. Howell March 11, 2016 at 20:21

        Unless is is undone.

      • 76 Professor VJ Duke March 14, 2016 at 14:06

        By some wicked fellow.

      • 77 John W. Howell March 14, 2016 at 14:09

        They are out there.

      • 78 Professor VJ Duke March 14, 2016 at 14:13

        I’ve seen them–with both eyes.

  7. 79 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 1, 2016 at 21:25

I once showed my desk too, and I shall again once the office is complete. Your cactus needs coffee and I love your golden coin. I want one, Duketh. Taping to the wall makes sense to me. Up and on the wall so you can see it. Smiles

    • 80 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:25

I remember! You had such cool plants in your office. Can’t wait to see the new one. Isn’t that coin something? It looks like me, too, you must admit. Yes, I tape lots of things to the wall.

      • 81 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 3, 2016 at 06:47

Yep, I did. I had two. Maxine came with me to Nebraska. She made a beautiful transition from sand to snow. *proud feathers* Shall be posting once finished, I think. Really is a fine coin. Keep it safe. Mostly things that need remembering, I bet. Not music. You have that covered.

      • 82 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:50

Maxine! *laughs* Great name. How’s Oscar doing? And Mr. Warrior, of course.

        Ah, music! *bangs head*

      • 83 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 5, 2016 at 06:19

A beautiful name, I say. Oscar is a free range nearly farm pug now. He is often about on his own in the backyard. You’d be proud. Mr. Warrior is often near the pond looking for trouble, I think. Quickly changes subject from music to videos.

      • 84 Professor VJ Duke March 7, 2016 at 20:42

*Laughs* There’s pond! That sounds cool. I bet there could be a monster in there somewhere. I bet so. You should hunt it.

        Vidoes? But why?

      • 85 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 8, 2016 at 18:36

There probably is a monster, but he can handle it. Taller than me now, see. I’m not hunting unless you are too.
Because you like them more the sudden, it seems.

      • 86 Professor VJ Duke March 9, 2016 at 14:40

Well, I’d got down there with some sort of Glock or something like that. You know, fetch it out a bit. Take Mr. Warrior with you and vanquish it!

      • 87 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 9, 2016 at 16:30

Oh, I don’t believe I’ll be glocking anything. I’m not so vicious.

      • 88 Professor VJ Duke March 10, 2016 at 13:59

Oh yes you are! It’s in your blood. *nods*

      • 89 Audrey Dawn - Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister March 22, 2016 at 13:38

In my blood? Sweet of you to say, Sir.

      • 90 Professor VJ Duke March 22, 2016 at 14:36

        But it’s vicious to say.

  8. 91 Simply Skeptical March 1, 2016 at 20:27

I dare say that armor would suit you well. Awesome color! Isn’t that a bamboo tree? Luck abounds when it’s around how about “Lucky”? I love copper jewelry. Melt that coin down for some finger or nose rings. hee, hee…

    • 92 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:24

A nose ring? You want a nose ring? You’d be like a bull, the sudden.

  9. 93 Haylee March 1, 2016 at 19:05

Surprisingly tidy – did you have a whip round before your took the photo? I enjoy that your drawers appear to be guarded by bears, even if they are of the fluffy variety.

    • 94 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:24

Nah, that’s usually what it looks like, unless I’m in the middle of some sort of project. Not that I’m not now. *laughs* Aren’t they something? In one of those drawers is my weapon collection! *is proud*

      • 95 Haylee March 2, 2016 at 21:30

Then I am impressed by the orderliness :) Ooh, ooh, talking of weapons, have you seen the sequel to Crouching Tiger? Or at least a trailer with the wonderfully pretty sword?

      • 96 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:42

I haven’t! I haven’t even seen Crouching Tiger. Is it recommended? I have seen The Last Samurai, which I loved.

      • 97 Haylee March 3, 2016 at 15:26

Last Samurai is awesome! I enjoyed Crouching Tiger but preferred House of Flying Dragons. Not sure about new one, not seen it yet but I’d watch it just for the sword (of destiny)!

      • 98 Professor VJ Duke March 4, 2016 at 15:18

Coolness. You make me want to see Crouching Tiger! See? I see some movies, after all.

      • 99 Haylee March 4, 2016 at 17:35

        *High fives and fist bumps*

      • 100 Professor VJ Duke March 7, 2016 at 20:35

*lots of fist bumps back and fist pumps*

  10. 101 PorterGirl March 1, 2016 at 17:23

It looks much better now it has been decorated somewhat but I agree with FF – that blank wall could be put to far better use. A nice picture of her would be marvellous, perhaps! The plant looks like a super fellow, call him Alan.

    • 102 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:21

Alan! *laughing lots* That’s a great name too. I think I shall call him Tars Alan Tarkis. *nods*

Can I just put a big picture of a guitar instead?

      • 103 PorterGirl March 2, 2016 at 19:37

That is the perfect name for the leafy bugger!
Sure, why not. Which guitar is the question!

      • 104 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:39

Maybe the Kremona? No…! The Strat! No…maybe the katana!

      • 105 PorterGirl March 3, 2016 at 16:23

Both! All! There can never be too many guitars about the place, I say. Or katanas.

      • 106 Professor VJ Duke March 4, 2016 at 15:23

I love guitars more than katanas! What think you of that?

      • 107 PorterGirl March 4, 2016 at 17:38

*laughs* it does not surprise me at all! Guitars RULE.

      • 108 Professor VJ Duke March 7, 2016 at 20:37

They should rule the world. I’m not sure why it hasn’t happened yet, you know.

      • 109 PorterGirl March 7, 2016 at 21:05

Hmm, perhaps they haven’t had the right weather for it, or something.

      • 110 Professor VJ Duke March 9, 2016 at 14:23

Guitars love all sorts of weather, see.

      • 111 PorterGirl March 9, 2016 at 14:28

Mine are not so keen on getting wet.

      • 112 Professor VJ Duke March 9, 2016 at 14:46

Yeah. Good point. Mine hates me for making it wet.

      • 113 PorterGirl March 9, 2016 at 14:50

You look good wet, the guitar not so much.

      • 114 Professor VJ Duke March 10, 2016 at 13:55

I looked wet wet. The guitar looked…mad, I ‘d say.

      • 115 PorterGirl March 10, 2016 at 14:23

        As angry as DS maybe!

      • 116 Professor VJ Duke March 11, 2016 at 13:56

DS falls apart when he gets really cranky.

      • 117 PorterGirl March 13, 2016 at 10:23

        In spectacular style, too.

      • 118 Professor VJ Duke March 14, 2016 at 14:08

That’s true. He looks good doing it.

  11. 119 Alastair Savage March 1, 2016 at 17:21

Who would dare take the silver penny from you, professor?
And axe, definitely, axe not ax, for me!

    • 120 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:20

Ah…you’re an Axe-man. Well…were you thinking about thieving it with your axe?

  12. 121 FictionFan March 1, 2016 at 17:11

So that’s the famous desk you use for head-banging purposes, is it? Perhaps you should put some cushioning round the edge for health & safety reasons. I’m concerned about that massive blank wall facing you – it would look so much better with a giant portrait of me on it, don’t you think? *simpers* You should call the plant Tars Tarkas – it looks rather like him, I say. *hires Schwarzy to steal the coin*

    • 122 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:20

That’s the thing! It’s sorta like an 8-foot drafting table. And I’ve managed to fill it with all sorts of funny little things. It’s quite fancy, see. No, no, no cushions. No cushions.

*laughs* Of you?! Maybe of me, first.

That’s the perfect name for the plant!

      • 123 FictionFan March 3, 2016 at 00:42

        You keep it very neat!

Hmm. You enjoy putting me down, don’t you?

      • 124 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:46

Mostly, that is. It has been known to get lots of papers across it.

Of course not! Why would you think that?

  13. 125 L. Marie March 1, 2016 at 15:39

Hector is always an appropriate name. And yes, please give him some water.

I wish I could show a photo of the knight I have on my bookcase. He rides his destrier and carries a sword. A friend gave him to me.

Um, I wouldn’t dare take your coin. You might use that steel baton on me.

    • 126 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:18

Well, show him I say! Does he have a lance, too?

*laughs* Well, unless you tried to throw your knife at me. It’d be a war, madam!

      • 127 L. Marie March 3, 2016 at 13:25

I will email a photo of him. Prepare to be dazzled.

      • 128 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:50

He was awesome! I wanna be like him when I grow up.

  14. 129 Debbie March 1, 2016 at 15:37

Professor, you’re VERY brave for showing us your office. One can learn valuable details about a person from where he spends a lot of his time. I had a photo taken of me in my office once for the local newspaper, and I felt positively naked when I realized what strangers could be learning about me *shudders*

Your plant looks like a lucky bamboo. Is it? If so, perhaps you might Google Chinese warriors and find a name you like there. I had one, too, but it bit the dust — you probably take better care of yours!

    • 130 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:17

Oh, the people in the paper were probably really interested in seeing such things, don’t you see. I would be. But the professors desk tells so much it really doesn’t tell, see.

Yes, that’s it! How did you know?! *is surprised*

    • 131 Jackie March 3, 2016 at 00:40

You’re correct, it is a lucky bamboo plant.

I’d be glad to rearrange your office if you ask nicely. And I think you need more closets. A small aggregator would be helpful. Oh, and a painting of the Ferdinand.

    • 133 Professor VJ Duke March 2, 2016 at 19:13

Rearrange it? But whyever why, madam? It’s rather spicy at the moment. *looks about* I think. Ferdinand. Now who is this?

      • 134 Susan P March 2, 2016 at 22:32

      • 135 Professor VJ Duke March 3, 2016 at 14:45

Haha. I’m a fan of Ferdinand, the sudden.

      • 136 Susan P March 3, 2016 at 14:55

We all loved him at our house.

      • 137 Professor VJ Duke March 4, 2016 at 15:16

He needs to get a bit more manly, tho.

      • 138 Susan P March 4, 2016 at 15:49

Do you want to have a meeting in Madrid>

      • 139 Professor VJ Duke March 7, 2016 at 20:34

Yes, I think so. If the food is okay.

      • 140 Susan P March 8, 2016 at 18:33

There is no way to tell from one meal to another. You have to take it on faith.

      • 141 Professor VJ Duke March 9, 2016 at 14:39

        Blind faith?

      • 142 Susan P March 9, 2016 at 16:35

        Aww…wisdom.

      • 143 Professor VJ Duke March 10, 2016 at 13:59

        I only have nuggets.

      • 144 Susan P March 10, 2016 at 14:21

        Fried?

      • 145 Professor VJ Duke March 11, 2016 at 13:55

        Always. With pepper.

      • 146 Susan P March 11, 2016 at 14:27

“I speak severely to my boy,
        I beat him when he sneezes;
        For he can thoroughly enjoy
The pepper when he pleases!” – Lewis Carroll

      • 147 Professor VJ Duke March 14, 2016 at 13:52

*laughing* I love that poem! I’m always saying it, you know.

      • 148 Susan P March 14, 2016 at 14:00

Are you on the receiving end or the deliverer?

      • 149 Professor VJ Duke March 14, 2016 at 14:12

        Umm…deliverer!

      • 150 Susan P March 14, 2016 at 18:09

        Ah. It must be truth.

      • 151 Professor VJ Duke March 15, 2016 at 13:14

        I think it is.

      • 152 Susan P March 15, 2016 at 14:26

        What is truth?

      • 153 Professor VJ Duke March 17, 2016 at 02:49

        Pilate!

      • 154 Susan P April 3, 2016 at 00:33

        But…he didn’t know?

      • 155 Professor VJ Duke April 3, 2016 at 20:52

        Nah. He didn’t. poor beast.

      • 156 Susan P April 3, 2016 at 23:49

It seems that it was a dangerous thing.

      • 157 Professor VJ Duke April 4, 2016 at 15:06

What? Not knowing? I think so.

      • 158 Susan P April 4, 2016 at 17:08

        How did you escape?

      • 159 Professor VJ Duke April 5, 2016 at 13:47

My feet did for me. Cause they’re super fast.
